I did a good amount of research before buying this for my wife. She is a hobbyist photographer that loves taking A LOT of photos. She especially loves landscape photography so a good wide angle lens was a must. She loved this lens right from the get go. She uses it with her Canon 5D Mark III and it's really elevated her game. She can't stop talking about how much she loves this lens! It seems pretty durable, we've taken in to Europe already to 3 different countries and although it is a heavier lens (lots of glass) it makes up for it's weight with it's image quality. I also like the fact that Tamron provides a 5 year warranty versus Canon's wide angle lenses that only come with 1 year! Tamron really stand behind their product.

I like ultra-wide lenses, as this one is, moreover, Tamron has image stabilisation, which is perfect for hand-hold, picture quality is excellent. The only cons is the weight. So... live is not black and white only.
