At times I like to watch YouTube videos, or review other information on my television, using HDMI cables. This allows me to sit some distance from my computer/TV and control the information. I did find this a little slow reacting and cumbersome to using right and left click. I had an older version (not same manufacturer) that worked very well, but would not connect on more recent laptop operating systems.

I bought this presentation tool because of the look on Home Essentials Direct's stock photo. When you actually hold the item, it feels light and cheap like it's easy to break. The plastic exterior has this finish that seems very easy to scratch. Within a week of moderate use, it already looks banged up. The USB receiver itself was somewhat of a pain to get to and took FOREVER to load the drivers on the school's DELL Optiplex 780 computers. Because I used this for my Green Chemistry class, when other groups asked to borrow it, everyone would have to wait literally 4 minutes for the drivers to go through. The device may look simple, but oddly enough, people in the class just couldn't distinguish what button did what. Alot of times, people would press the 'slideshow start' button to advance to the next slide. Not to mention, the buttons really weren't all that responsive. You'd have to press REAL hard to get the remote to work. Pros: -Small, lightweight -Somewhat modern design with cool Green/Red lighting -USB transmitter safely remains inside Cons: -Cheap feeling plastic that's really prone to scratching -USB's a pain to get to -Drivers take FOREVER to load (at least through my experience) -Buttons are a bit unresponsive -Laser function really isn't even that strong (barely visible) -Apparently confusing to some people (though this may be attributed to their stage fright ;D ) With my experience, I cannot justify the high price tag for this mediocre product...

I have used this specific model of a presentation remote for quite a long time nowat least 8 years, give or take. I've tried numerous types/models, but I still stick with this one for a few very important reasons (I've listed them in the "Pros" section below). Admittedly, these reasons are critical for me and because of how I use this device. I'm a high school Social Studies Teacher who uses this not only for advancing slides/screens in presentations, but in its alternate mode, I also use it as a cursor to navigate on screen, select buttons (like Enter, Scroll up/down, Return, etc.) This latter feature is a must-have for me personally. Despite this, it has 1 significant flaw that has resulted in my having to purchase a new one of these devices every 4 to 8 months or so, and this has really been irritating me. Therefore, if I could find a pointer that does EXACTLY what this one does, I'd switch. I've tried 6 other models here, and none of them have all the features I need in the classroom. PROS: * Laser pointer that, despite what others have said to the contrary here, does have a bright, effective red appearance. (The key is to maintain a fresh AAA batteryforget Duracell; they suck. Go with Energizer's top AAA ones.) * Advance left/right is easy to use, and they're located to the left/right of the pointer button. * Mode selector switchthis allows me to quickly and easily switch from presentation mode to keyboard mode, so to speak; that is, I can immediately move the switch and then use the cursor on the screen to scroll up/down the website page, close a tab or browser, open a tab or browser, click on Enter (or any other key, for that matter), and more. This prevents me from having to run back to my desk to do things. * Storage dept. for the USB dongle that gets inserted into a USB port to allow this to be controlled remotely. * Good grip on itthe underside and sides are a light gray color that are also not flat; they're more of a serrated or ruffled texture to allow the holder to get a good grip and not have this thing be loose in one's hand. * Remote control capability works throughout a room (I don't know if it would work in a large ballroom or auditorium size venue, though). * Plug-and-play, for the most part. I don't know why people were having so many issues with drivers and other stuff like that. I never had to deal with that, even after buying replacements for this. CONS: * It's definitely not inexpensive. The cost runs around $53 with tax, depending on whether this is ever on sale. * Very susceptible to damage, and I'm not talking only cosmetic (see next bullet point)! * One major flaw that has affected EVERY one of these that I have purchased and used over the years. Invariably, every one of these eventually had its rear compartment door go bad. Specifically and totally inexplicably, it just wouldn't snap shut anymore. At all. Nothing I tried could fix that issue, either. It's very weird. This, of course, means that I have to tape the door shut, then when I use it, I tape it, take the USB dongle out, reclose the door (albeit only partially), etc. What a royal pain in the ass THAT is! I've had techie geeks look at it, a fellow teacher who's an engineering genius look at it, but all for naught. None of us could figure out why this happens. Regardless of the reason, it means I have to buy yet another replacement, and that begins to add up financially.
This pointer seems to be a newer version of the one I have used for several years. I was very pleased with the former one, and I think that it simply wore out with daily use. The functions on this recent purchase are clear, and the transmitter (USB connection) is much smaller. One positive feature is that the USB transmitter stores inside the device. The disadvantage to that, is that you must open the case each time that you want to store the USB. I hope that the case can handle regular opening and closing for the storage of the USB transmitter. This device is simple to use and effective. There are no special instructions or surprising strategies. I would give the product 5 stars if the USB storage did not require me to open the case each time.
Product sucks! It never worked. I still have it new. My Logitech on the other hand, works beautifully! As soon as I connected it, it started working. Stay away from Targus products at all cost!
Simple to use with both Bluetooth and USB connections for versatile use. My only qualm is the tacky/sticky rubberized grip coating. The construction feels slightly flimsy yet sturdy enough for occasional use. Overall I'm happy with its performance.
This is fantastic clicker that works very well in the classroom. Its sturdy and it design makes it very easy to use. Some downsides to it include the fact that the on/off switch is a bit difficult to use (I am constantly leaving it one). The battery also gets jar loose very easily in the device, leading to you constantly have to adjust it, if it doesn't appear to be working.
This remote works well and even has a dip switch to select/change between PC (Windows) and Mac (including Keynote)! it has two modes of operation as well, one of which is to control your mouse remotely (which does work on my Chromebook too). It works quite well, but I bought it in hopes of being able to use it with my Chromebook and PowerPoint Mobile. Unfortunately, it can only advance the PowerPoints in PowerPoint Mobile, it cannot go back to a previous slide. This is not Targus' fault though, it is Microsoft's. For some reason, Microsoft has STILL not made PowerPoint Mobile work with PgUp and PgDn keypresses to go to next and previous slides (PgUp and PgDn work fine on Windows PowerPoint! C'mon Microsoft, get with the program ... literally!). Bought and requested same day delivery. As always MightApe delivered the item within the closure of the day.I already use it in a MAC PC and it was pretty much plug and play, I had to use an adapter for the thunderbolt port in my laptop as MAC model I have does not support USB, but that is another subject.Laser pointer works ok in an Epson Projector, However, this pointer is a no no if you are going to use in a very bright TV like projector, the monitor brightness nullify the pointer. As a slide changer it does its job, provided you don’t need to stay to far away from your laptop. I tested till 10 meters away ish, and you can tell that the pointer response is delayed when reaching the 10 meters mark.
