I was shopping just for a Tuscan 4x4 to expand my podcast setup to allow four simultaneous inputs. After 18 months with the 2x2, I knew this was the logical upgrade. I was simply checking the price here and I saw this amazing deal for a bundle that throws in two mics, stands, cables, a power supply, and two headphones for the same price as the 4x4 alone at most dealers. I bought the package immediately and I am very pleased with the result. I can't speak on the use as an interface for musicians, but I can definitely say this is a great starter kit for anyone looking to record spoken audio, whether for podcasting, voiceover work, or whatever other purpose you have.

Awesome package deal. The studio mics sound great, they really capture the lows and the highs crisp and clearly. The studio headphones sound great and they are super comfortable, you can wear them for long periods of time without ear ache and head pain. Lastly but not least, the interface. The Tascam 4x4 is awesome. The preamps handle the mics really well and the interface sounds awesome. No latency with my computer and the audio process in my DAW sounds amazing.

I have a small home studio, which I've had for years. Every few years I try to upgrade my equipment. This was one upgrade thstvwas more of a downgrade. It was unheard of to me that if my computer went to "sleep" I would have to unplug the unit by power and usb cords, and reconnect both just got my computer to RE-recognize the unit. This is INCREDIBLY annoying when I'm used to being able to just leave my computer, come back and everything's ready to go

I use this to record line in as well as mic'd amps and it has a clear sound. Using headphones I hear no noise coming from the preamps. It's built very well and seems like it could survive drops of that should occur. The knobs are easy to us and everything is clearly identified.
TASCAM US-4x4 USB Audio Interface has great audio quality and ergonomic design for a 4-in/4-out USB 2.0 interface. Four of TASCAM's Ultra-HDDA mic/line preamps provide up to 57dB. The high-performance, musical components give rich sound quality without coloring the source. Driverless operation is possible for plug-and-play operation on Mac OSX and iOS devices like the iPad, and a simple driver adds ASIO compatibility for Windows. MIDI in and out are also included. The interface includes two DAW applications Cakewalk SONAR X3 LE and Abelton Live Lite 9. In all this is a great 4-channel interface for home, project, and mobile studios. I use this with four analog microphones to capture presentations for hybrid meetings involving Zoom. This works very well. Online participants can hear what is being said at the meeting and the output of the interface feeds well into the sound system so the in-person attendees hear what is being said via the Zoom participants. Each mic output has its own volume control. Problem solved.PW/Sarasota, Florida
If you want a piece of technology that's durable, high-quality, and affordable - If you'd like to pay 200 dollars and get two channels with flashy lights, this is not your product *cough* Focusrite. If you'd like to pay 200 dollars and get 4 channels then pay 10 dollars for a desk lamp then maybe you're in the right place. Also, the software settings are pretty cool and let you have more room than trying to cram everything into a physical setting on the interface. Pretty cool stuff.
The driver date is 2018 which makes the product current. I haven't done any recording yet. IT HAS A SERIOUS ON / OFF PROBLEM. If you are not a professional you will have a lot of problems. I'm pretty familiar with interfaces. Soundwise, it's very smooth and should perform well. I have had no pops or interference.Tascam could (and should) update the driver software.
I have been an avid Tascam user for almost 20 years. From starting out using a 4 channel cassette porta studio then moving to the original US-122. I then moved up to the FW 1082. Now, the sound, just keeps on getting better and Tascam makes it easy to keep moving up to better sound. The price is great compared to other brands and they have been in the recording business since it started. The drivers are constantly being updated as to keep up with the demand of better sound with newer operating systems And the look, is really freakin cool!. Try one out, you will not be disappointed."This is a real hands-on review from Jamie at Sam Ash Music Indy".
I bought this interface for multipurpose use, including events and temporary art installations. All of the basics work (input and output sound fine, although there's a bit of hiss that starts the first time I output audio from a computer), but in the end I'm returning it to try another interface.1. It's big and heavy.2. Its power requirements are unpredictable: it comes with a USB C to A cable, but the manual states that this cable won't provide enough power to operate the interface (and a warning light blinks if I'm using this cable without the external power supply) and suggests using a separately-purchased USB-C cable (which I verified works without external power).3. By default, some of the inputs and outputs are set up for monitoring, so a mic will get passed through to outputs 1-2. The only way to change this is by installing their software and changing a setting. The setting is remembered, but doesn't apply when the USB bus is down. So if I shut down the computer but have the interface connected to power, it immediately patches the mic through to the outputs (blast of feedback!). But if I just power the interface with the included adapter and never connect it to the computer, it *does not* patch the mic through to the outputs.4. The manual has some confusing language and says, for example, that the interface *must* be used with their software for it to work properly. In the end, I need an interface with fewer surprises.
