This is my first guitar. I am just beginning to learn. I had a sales associate play a number of different acoustic guitars and I also sat an held and played 1-2 chords with various guitars. This guitar sounded the best in the price range and was by far the most comfortable to play!

Great First Guitar

I recently purchased this as my first guitar. In the description Taylor talks about how a first guitar should be nice enough to encourage a beginner by sounding good and being reliable but not so flashy as to be intimidating. I think this guitar really hit the mark. I think it's a beautiful crafted musical instrument. It sounds wonderful, it's fun to play but unassuming and not intimidating to take out a play. I'm really happy I paid up for this as opposed to starting with a cheaper first-time guitar.

Great beginner or intermediate acoustic

It's marketed as a beginner guitar but feels and sounds great for any level. It is very resonant, probably because of the thin satin finish. I was very surprised by how good it sounds and how loud it can get compared to the other guitars I tried at the store. Nice case too.

Great guitar
19 March 2023

I bought the academy 10 used in excellent condition. I look for guitars with Sitka spruce tops and ebony fretboard and bridge, hard to find at this price point. I installed a Taylor pickguard and a fishman pick up. It sounds great. The A10 and my Taylor 214 will be with me at all my gigs this year. Certainly not just a beginner guitar.

Great guitar: good price, excellent playability, good sound.

If you're a teenager or adult looking for a quality first guitar purchase this is a great place to start. The playability is great because: Narrow 1 11/16 nut width, 24 7/8 scale means less stretching, light strings with low action equals less hand/finger fatigue. Solid top with laminated sides means less changes to weather and humidity, great for travel, back up guitar that's less expensive. I liked this Academy 10 more than the Academy 12 because it has a fuller sound (Dreadnought shape) and is great for playing chords. I also prefer this over the GS mini because it has better projection as it is a bigger body, and I feel the sound is a little brighter yet more bottom end Punch than the mini. A GS mini is better suited for a child or someone with really small ... MoreIf you're a teenager or adult looking for a quality first guitar purchase this is a great place to start. I was very pleasantly surprised

I was very pleasantly surprised with this guitar. Whilst the finish was very much understated, the build quality and most importantly the tone and playability seemed that of a far more expensive instrument. It most definitely punches above its weight in most departments!

Should have been my first guitar.

I absolutely love my Taylor. I started out on an Epiphone DR-100, which is a fine instrument for its price, but after about 8 months this guitar is exactly the upgrade that I had hoped it would be. Everything is just that much tighter and more refined. There is just that much more attention to detail. The tuners are high quality. There's a precision in dialing in the note while tuning that I hadn't experienced. The beveled edge may seem gimmicky, but between that and the smaller size, this instrument just sits so comfortably in my lap, whether I'm on the couch, a chair or standing up. The unvarnished wood was surprising at first, (There is no gloss whatsoever) but I quickly grew to appreciate the simple elegance of the construction. The unvarnished wood was surprising at first, (There is no gloss whatsoever) but I quickly grew to appreciate the simple elegance of the construction. In terms of fit and finish, even as a beginner I can tell that this is more than one should reasonably expect at this price point. The whole guitar is sonically alive in a way that my Epiphone never was. The spruce top and sapele sides are beautiful, and the whole body resonates wondrously. I've also now gotten to experience the high-end sparkle that I'd read about with Taylors firsthand, and it really is quite something. The sound is just so much cleaner and lovelier than I even imagined. I also worried that the slightly smaller scale would be a problem, but I didn't miss a step. The first chords I strummed on it rang out with a satisfying responsiveness. Everything about this guitar...everything...makes me just want to grab it and play it.And the bag is waaaay nicer than I expected.Taylor has made a fan for life.I realize this is a glowing review from a beginner and there are probably nuances I would criticize if I had more experience, but after all I am the market for this line of instruments, and as far as I'm concerned Taylor has hit it out of the park.

Taylor Academy 10e
19 July 2022

I already had Taylor guitars, including the 12e, but I wanted to have the 10e as well, so I ordered it. The guitar arrived very quickly and perfectly packaged. I even liked the guitar setup, it played right out of the box. The only complaint is the uneven color on the fingerboard in the form of a line, lighter in color, 20 cm long. However, I don't want to go through the hassle of returning and waiting for a new guitar.
