Good, solid feel with a smooth black, visually appealing, look over the ball. Club moves well under the ball and produces consistent launch angles with repeatable results. Replaced my old 58° wedge with a 56° model because the gap was too wide between wedges. Currently contemplating adding the 52° to replace my current gap wedge.

Purchased a TW sand wedge with a few custom modifications, I ordered with an alternate shaft and bent strong one degree to be 55*. Club was shipped directly from Taylormade quickly which I was happy about. Unfortunately after having the club checked by a reputable club builder, basically every spec was off. The length which was supposed to be standard was over half an inch short, the loft was 56, and the swingweight was significantly lighter than what’s listed as standard partially due to the shortened length. I am extremely disappointed with the build quality from TM and expected more from such a big/reputable brand in this industry. Now I’m stuck with a club that is too short and would have to use a shaft extension to play at standard length. Subpar quality control from the build shop at TM which unfortunately seems to be a relatively common issue. Side note the club head and grind are great. I’m just disappointed with my experience ordering a club with custom specs.

This wedge beat out some tough competition - namely the SM8s, the Mizuno T22s, and the Zipcores. While I liked all 3 of the other wedges, the MG3 wedges were by far the standouts when it came to performance, and it's carried over to the course as well.Since I've put them in the bag, I've found that they actually don't rust all that much (if at all) if you keep them dry. The black finish is fading a bit on the bottom of the wedge, but overall they're holding up really well.Performance-wise, they are spinny but nothing crazy - it's more the consistency in all conditions and the accuracy I have with them. Something about how they set up behind the ball really suits my eye and makes it easy to start them on line. I see now why Tiger plays these wedges, and will be ... MoreThis wedge beat out some tough competition - namely the SM8s, the Mizuno T22s, and the Zipcores. Everything I would expect from TM. I've tried many brands of wedges. All the big names make good wedges, to each his own. I prefer the mg3 myself. I like the raw. It feels like it gives more spin. It might not. But feeling makes a difference. I also got the black. Man, I wish all my irons were black. It looks awesome! I recommend to any and all golfers!!!
I was reluctant to buy the black ones, but they were the only color available to ship immediately. As soon as I opened the package, I fell in love with them. They're beautiful. My only complaint is that the box looked like it had been dropped in the middle of a busy freeway for an afternoon before it was picked up for shipping. That wouldn't have been so bad had the wedges been packaged like my P790s were when I got those from TaylorMade (i.e., packed in foam). I don't love the grips either (GolfPride CP2 wraps), but that's not TM's fault.
I don’t like giving 5 stars for anything, and I really try to check myself to make sure I’m not just “in the moment” when I leave reviews. That being said, TaylorMade got these wedges right. I mistakenly purchased one at a big box (thought I was buying the Vokey), liked it so much I came back to the TaylorMade site to use my loyalty points to get the exact same wedge in a different loft.My 56 degree is money from the sand. Makes a nice crisp sound and swings through with little effort. My 50 degree replaces my PW, and from the first shot with it, I had full confidence in it. I haven’t hit one bad shot with the 50 degree - I’ve messed up a couple from the bunkers with the 56, but it wasn’t because of the club! These wedges join the HL SIM Max fairway wood as my ... MoreI don’t like giving 5 stars for anything, and I really try to check myself to make sure I’m not just “in the moment” when I leave reviews. That being said, TaylorMade got these wedges right. Zippy, Nippy, Ripping-spinners. Not enough adjectives to describe how a-lot-good these wedges are. Nice click with the chips, and it spins well even with the short bumpy shots. Haven’t seen the face rust yet, which is promising cause I do want them to last. Good sole on the sand wedge which works well in thick green side rough. Even seems to spin when ball and grass is wet
The MG3 wedges are amazing. I previously gamed the MG2s and didn't like them and was preparing to replace them with SM9s. When I saw TM releasing the MG3s, the look along changed my mind and I'm glad it did.The MG3 are a huge improvements over the MG2s. The MG3 has a great look to it (loved the satin finish), has a really nice player profile like shape at address and sits nicely in the bag and at address. I also loved the feel of the MG3 and it provides feedback on both good and bad shots, and it snaps more (could be due to the new micro-ribs in the groove).
These Milled Grind 3 wedges are versatile for my game. I can hit it square or open it up on tight or fluffy lies. But the biggest difference I have experienced is how the MG3 gets the ball out of the bunker. The wedge seems smoother and glides easier (sorry Ping) through the sand (and on grass for that matter). And this is in hard-packed, wet sand or standard muni, coarse sand. My technique is not all that great, but I'm guessing it is due to the milled grind sole, like it won't get stuck. Regarding the grooves and "raw" face, the teeth do seem to grab and spin the ball more than my Vokeys, and I play a firm ball. If there is one complaint, the MG3 definitely feels harder than Vokeys with the MG3 using a Tour Issue shaft. Not sure if that has something to do with ... MoreThese Milled Grind 3 wedges are versatile for my game. I can hit it square or open it up on tight or fluffy lies. While I am still getting used to them, I feel more confident out of the bunker and in trying different shots, like flops to a tight pin location. Both of which I normally dread. While I wish the wedge felt a little softer, I really can't complain about the versatility and confidence it has given me.
The Milled Grind 3 Raw Wedge is a very workable player’s club that provides immediate feedback. You pure it, or miss it, and you know right away. Mid-trajectory with no ballooning. Extremely consistent. You can spin it or run it. An unexpected bonus is how well my 52-12 bent to 53-13 performs from firm and wet sand. Also, TaylorMade provides great customer service before and after purchase.
Milled Grind 3 TaylorMade has once again pushed wedge technology to the next level. The new Milled Grind 3 features RAW Face Micro-Ribs, engineered for added face texture to deliver spin around the greens and added precision on partial shots. Consisten Spin & Raw Performance There’s a reason RAW wedges are preferred by the game’s best players. The unplated material will rust over time to preserve consistent spin while also delivering better performance in wet conditions. With RAW Face Technology, only the face will rust while the rest of the head maintains a premium finish. Greenside Protection All-new Raised Micro-Ribs provide added precision on challenging feel shots around the green. A more abrasive and textured surface area leads to better interaction between club face and ball on finesse shots. Milled Craftsmanship The milling process maximizes consistency, maintaining tolerance levels difficult for a human to repeat. The result is a precisely crafted grind on each and every wedge that produces optimal turf interaction and consistent performance.
