Great picture quality, My reason for Not 5 stars is as follows- I have a home theater setup and am very disappointed with the Google streaming app. I connected the toslink audio out to my receiver and the Google streaming app only sends in 2ch stereo. The HDMI-connected and air TV devices will pass through the encoded surround channel encoding through the toslink.. So if you have a external speaker setup and you are paying for Hulu, Peacock, Netflix, etc or any streaming service that streams in Digital Surround, or Atmos you aren't getting it. You have to use a pseudo surround of Nero 6 or Dolby PLII. The only way to get streaming surround is to get an HDMI Dongle at least on TCL SMART TV with Google Streaming. While I don't know for sure about TCL SMART TVs equipped with ROKU streaming, I would assume it would be the same deal of just getting 2-channel transmission through the optical out toslink to external speakers and theater setups. While not a deal breaker, it is a disappointment and I want people with external sound system setups to be aware of this limitation in using any of the streaming services built into this TV. If you don't have an external sound system setup this TV will meet all your expectations as the built-in sound does just fine in being clear and with good volume, but don't expect any wow factor no matter what setting you put on it

Hanging it from the wall doesn’t seem practical since it is so big that there is no need to put it higher and finding an economical, sturdy and decent swivel bracket for a 120 lb TV is not cheap and difficult to guarantee that the arm is not going to start leaning forward and give up due to the heavy weight.Picture quality is decent and for this price I won’t complain. Based on a couple of tests, I can say that the streaming from the native apps from google TV works better than plugging in a Roku 4K or an Apple TV.We are super happy with this purchase and the geek squad team that did the delivery, unwrapping and setup on top of our furniture was super professional and respectful. Also, the bestbuy financing of 24 months with NO interest is super convenient and avoids taking a $2k instantaneous hit in your finances. I just make sure it’s on autopay and set up the amount that will pay it off before the promotion period ends. The sound is hard to criticize since a screen this big needs a surround system and I don't think it will be playing the audio by itself.Last but not least the operating system with Google OS has impressed me. I’m invested in the apple ecosystem but this is quick, responsive, and it has all the apps that I need including apple’s Airplay that I use a lot casting gopro videos and pictures. Let’s hope it lasts several years to come.

Pros1) Picture quality is great! Moved up from an older (2018) Onida 4K LCD TV and I can tell the difference in the brightness and picture quality.2) Price - Perfectly good for a budget TV (bought at 299 before taxes).3) Smart TV features - we love the AirPlay feature with Apple products. We use it to watch movies and mirror screens when discussing/planning trips and zoom calls with the family.4) Packaging - packaging was secure and well packed to avoid any damage in transit5) Gaming - can do 120fps @ 1440p on the playstation 5! I have tested this and looks great. You can play games at 40 fps that support it (Spiderman 2 and Miles Morales for instance) and the experience is very close to a 60fps game.Cons:1) Not a con per se, but don't be surprised at the ... MorePros1) Picture quality is great! It's somewhat tinny when compared my older TV which had some good bass to it. Mids aren't great either. Invest in a sound bar.2) The TV panel doesn't do well with reflections (see image) - so don't keep any lamps/lights or even a window behind you or keep them turned offOverall a great purchase. Just don't expect amazing HDR quality but then again, you only notice what's missing when you compare TV panels side-by-side.

I'm also game developer, and part of my job is to design and code User Interfaces--I know what I'm doing, and I know when something like this is fundamentally broken.I've never been so angry over a product that should be exceeding simple to get right. This is inexcusable (in this day and age) and TCL does NOT deserve your money.

I'm glad I chose to go with a Google TV type television, as it works very well with my Samsung mobile phone. I basically just use my phone as a sort of TV Guide and then cast my channel choice easily to the television. In short, I'm very happy with my purchase and the support that I received from TCL.

[Rewarded Review] Great TV, for Value and in General!
22 August 2024

I came from a pretty cheap, non-smart 1080p TV that started getting dead pixel lines after about 2 years of use, so we were looking for a nicer TV that wouldn't break the bank and that would last for a while longer. Suffice to say, this TV is wonderful!! I got it on a deal, and at that price I don't think we could've done much better.I've always been a bit skeptical of smart TVs since you can just buy a Chromecast, but I'm happy to say that this one is just smart enough for our needs without being overly dense. I remember some people complaining about sound, but to be honest the built-in speakers are perfectly serviceable—I'm not picky. The build quality is also very good too.Great value for the price!!My phone made the room look way darker in this picture, but here's a still from Gravity Falls I guess!

[Rewarded Review] Great Video Quality, Perfect Size!
17 June 2024

The TCL 43” Q Class 4K UHD QLED Smart TV with Google TV is perfect for my home! We love watching movies on the weekends and an episode or two of a show each night. Our house is quaint, so we prefer a modest size television. It was time to upgrade our smaller, five year old TV and this was an excellent improvement. There are several different picture options depending on what you’re watching and they are worth adjusting each time you turn on something new for the appropriate type of video quality. The google tv voice feature on the remote is awesome. I guess some could consider it slow, but it’s searching through all my apps to play from the right spot. Sometimes I know exactly what I want on, so I can tell it what to do and walk away. It’s great. The google tv voice feature on the remote is awesome. I guess some could consider it slow, but it’s searching through all my apps to play from the right spot. Sometimes I know exactly what I want on, so I can tell it what to do and walk away. It’s great. There are a lot of different search features and apps. They have all been easy to access and navigate. Nothing has crashed or frozen (which used to happen a lot with my old tv). Setting it up was a little tricky. It struggled staying connecting to the internet which make setup time take longer than anticipated. But once you get through setup, you run a firmware update and it’s good to go. It hasn’t disconnected from WiFi since. It’s too big for my old TV mount, but I know when I get a new one installed, it will look perfect on my living room wall. The remote it came with is a good size. I like that it’s sleek but large enough to not get lost in my couch the second I set it down! It has one touch app buttons, voice control/google tv and they are going to get a lot of mileage. I’m really happy with it all in all and hope it lasts many years.

[Rewarded Review] Great bedroom television
31 August 2024

I've had this over a month now, and I'm very happy with this, especially for the price. Colors are excellent. It's much brighter than i expected, to the extent that at times in a dark room at night it's almost too bright. I haven't played with the calibration or advanced settings much, it's that the whites at almost too prominent. It's not a flaw, I'm sure i can tweak it a bit. And it's perfectly bright when the morning sun comes in through the window, colors still popping clear. So it would be great in a really bright room.Motion judder is usually non-existent, with one caveat (more on that below) i have little experience with the higher end OLEDs with higher refresh rates, so maybe it could be better, but for a 43" TV that we normally watch from about 15' away, ... MoreI've had this over a month now, and I'm very happy with this, especially for the price. Very clean and looks great.Sound is really nice. Plenty of power to fill a medium sized bedroom with the volume set near the middle so there's no over distortion.A really nice feature here is with one button on the remote all the most common picture and sound settings pop up discreetly across the bottom of the screen, including all the presets (HDR modes & Sound modes), so anyone can easily, and after a few weeks intuitively, switch to the best settings for whatever they are watching (Movies, sports, talk shows, Tv shows, nature docs, etc). This is one of my favorite things, as i said, this thing can almost be too bright and colorful, so based on what I'm watching, &/or when I'm watching it and the room conditions, i can tweak the basic modes, brightness, color saturation, etc, easily without and quickly, without worrying about getting out back to my "favorite" settings, because it's just as easy to get it back. This is something that's been more work with all the other 4k & HDR TVs I've had. With this it's simple. So the software (GoogleTV). I'm getting used to it. I still miss my FireTV. It's generally pretty quick. Very little lag between apps, etc. It's a little more "suggestive" like you'd expect, but not in an interfering way. But some of the apos, most notably Pluto so far, seem to have an occasional judder issue. Meaning I'm watching a show or movie with ads, and an ad plays, when the organ program starts up again, it judders/lags/unsynchs. And it can compound, and get worse with each ad. Semi regular with pluto, happened with something else too. I'm not sure if it's GoogleTV, the Plutob App, the TVs AI switching between the movie and ad (switching Resolutons/HDR/etc). Most of what we watch has no ads, and losing Pluto isn't a big deal, but thought I'd point that out.

[Rewarded Review] TCL Q651G 43 INCH - GOOD TV, GREAT PRICE!
22 August 2024

This is a budget television with enough features that will please most people at its particularly low price point. First off the packaging is extensive enough and gets an A+. The TV is super thin and light weight, only weighing 14.6 pounds. Navigating through the menu of the Google OS is smooth as can be on this TV, which I can say, isn’t quite the case on my Hisense U7N, a step above this TV in overall terms of quality. As far as the picture goes the images are high quality. Anything HD, Full HD, or 4K/4K HDR looks really good for the most part. I will say though the images will lack in depth as far as contrast ratios and brightness are concerned. This TV doesn’t get nearly as bright as mid range or higher end models. You will notice this moreso in outdoor scenes ... MoreThis is a budget television with enough features that will please most people at its particularly low price point. Anything HD, Full HD, or 4K/4K HDR looks really good for the most part. I will say though the images will lack in depth as far as contrast ratios and brightness are concerned. This TV doesn’t get nearly as bright as mid range or higher end models. You will notice this moreso in outdoor scenes in movies/tv shows. You will not see bright specular highlights reflecting off various objects. It still gets bright enough to fight off some glare from various light sources in rooms including sunlight.I would like to comment that the controller fits in my hand well and the TV responds quickly to my button presses. Also the Quantum Dot color is vibrant. As far as negatives go though, I will say there will be some noticeable issues concerning motion hiccups, the blurring of small images in sports such as the football/soccerball/baseball, also issues with banding/macroblocking/artifacting. There is an option in the menu to smooth out digital noise/film grain to various extents while retaining certain degrees of image detail. I would also like to express that this TV isn’t good for having wider seating arrangements featuring more than 2 or 3 people. The quality of the image degrades as you start to move off angle just a few degrees or so.One more thing I’ll touch upon is the sound. Me personally I like the surround sound experience. You can achieve this partially by having Dolby Atoms enabled. I also turned the bass all the weigh up. It does sound decent and definitely adds an extra layer of dimension. However if you want better bass, a better sounding center channel, and better sounding Dolby Atoms/surround sound, I’d go with at least a 3.1.2 soundbar. So finally, I’ll conclude, the bottom line is that this TV will impress most casual viewers while also satisfying even your more fine tuned TV enthusiasts, due to value/quality/price. I would definitely go get this for a guest bedroom, a smaller size, or even a living room, one of the larger 50 plus inch sizes. This TV shouldn’t disappoint! When comparing this TV to some of my more higher end TVs, including my LG C2, Samsung QN90A, and Hisense U7N, I’ll rank this giving it a 4/5 stars. Overall at this particular price point and for all that you get, I’ll easily give it a 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
