amazing sound and much much better touch controls (just a light tap will do) compared to Jabra (need to press abit hard and shove the earbud more into your ear) and Sony (crazy difficult swipe controls). this pair of buds really deserve the accolades in the various forums. the Technics app was also far superior compared to Jabra Sound+ and Sony. it was very well designed and optimised for the consumer profile. the sound is indeed on the softer side but the ANC more than compensates. the hear through was also amazingly clear as though there is no earbud in your ears. this is definitely worth the investment just that it is abit big (similar to Sony WF MX5). grabbed it during the 7-7 sale!

The sound quality is outstanding, with clear highs and deep bass. The performance is top-notch, especially for noise cancellation and battery life. One of its best features is the comfortable fit, making it ideal for long listening sessions. Overall, I’m impressed with the product and glad I made the purchase.

Fantastic sound but lacking in other areas.

Let’s get the good things out of the way first, the sound that these earbuds produce is nothing short of fantastic. I have adjusted the EQ very slightly and now in my opinion the sound is better than the Bose QuietComfort 2, Apple AirPods Pro Gen 2 USB-C and Sony WF1000XM3, all of which I compared directly with them. These are the first earbuds that have great punch and attack in kick drums, especially on tracks like Still Dre. Every frequency is well controlled, sub bass is rich and not distorted, mids stand out just right and highs are so well controlled, crisp but not harsh and so don’t cause fatigue like you get with other earbuds. Whether you’re listening to Rap music, tracks like Omen by The Prodigy, London Grammar or Ludovici Einaudi these earbuds deliver ... MoreLet’s get the good things out of the way first, the sound that these earbuds produce is nothing short of fantastic. Whether you’re listening to Rap music, tracks like Omen by The Prodigy, London Grammar or Ludovici Einaudi these earbuds deliver with aplomb. Now for the not so good, the noise cancelling. Even after ensuring I have the best fit ear tips and played about with the noise cancelling settings it’s just not great. It’s way behind the AirPods Pro and Bose, and not as good as the old WF1000XM3’s. On a recent plane journey I could still hear a slight drone of the engines, and I could hear every announcement from the tannoy system. Very disappointing. I contacted Technics regarding this as I see that every review complains about the same thing but Technics have no plans to try and fix this (if they can). The other issue is that I find they cause me pain after about an hour’s use. I appreciate this will be different for everyone but I find the external ear/concha gets very uncomfortable and I have to take the buds out for a while regardless of tip size used.

I love these headphones!
12 September 2024

I had been looking for a pair of great quality, great sounding and great fit headphones for some time. I had tried a number of other headphones, and none of them quite fit the bill. I did a bit of research and these kept coming up as top rated from a number of expert review sites so figured I'd take the plunge, and I am not disappointed! The sound is what makes these really stand out, there are various settings that can be controlled with the app, the noise canceling works really well which to be honest isn;t something I'd thought I'd use, but I find myself putting these in when I want to concentrate in noisy environments but don't want any music on.Price is on the higher side, but this seems to be the case for any decent wireless headphones, and you get what you ... MoreI had been looking for a pair of great quality, great sounding and great fit headphones for some time. Most practical earbuds out there

I will try to make a proper review about those earbuds.Connectivity is 10/10.My first impressions was really great, it was my first earbuds that connected immediately without any difficulty or reading the manual. It was super fast. I did the firmware update and chose in the settings the Dynamic mode of sound.Sound quality 8/10. It is accurate enough, good separation of different instruments. The bass could be better. There is a setting for extra bass but then you lose the other aspects of quality of the sound. The maximum volume is unfortunately low.Battery 10/10. The Battery lasts forever. I never seen something like that. Sometimes I check the app just to see the Battery percentage and it's above 50%. The Battery lasts forever. I never seen something like that. Sometimes I check the app just to see the Battery percentage and it's above 50%. Also the case can charge at least twice fully your earbuds.Price 9/10. In my case, I bought them for 238chf the silver version. For what it provides I think it's a great value.Phone Calls 9/10. Very clear to the other person and very clear for you to hear.Earbuds app 10/10. Probably one of the few apps that actually work every time. Very easy to understand and user friendly.Active noise cancelation 8/10. It does the work, of course if something is too loud close to you, you can hear it.Design 9/10. I like the design a lot, especially in the silver. It looks great in your ears and the case is small in comparison of other manufacturers.Comfortability 9/10. Easy to wear for long hours.Practicality 10/10. For me the reason I wear those more than my beoplay ex's is because it's too easy to take them out and put them on your ears. It's great for music, great for calls, great to watch videos. Also easy to put them back.Transparency mode 8/10. It does the work, nothing crazy, nothing bad.General rating 8/10. I like those earbuds for everyday activity plus music. If I really wanna listen high quality of music and loud I use my ex's for everything else I use the az80. Highly recommend them if you don't mind the lower volume.

It's not an exaggeration to say that the EAH-AZ80Es are the best earbuds I have ever used. They fit in my ears (and stay there) which is something that other earbuds have never been able to do for me.The sound quality is so good, I am hearing things in songs that I have never picked up on before. They are powerful, so the volume does not need to go too high most of the time either.I haven't used the noise cancelling much because the great design blocks out most outside sounds very well on their own - which must be doing great things for the battery life. I have found them to be seamless in this regard. They switch between different devices and services with ease. I can hear the people I'm talking to clearly - and they can hear me just fine.I find myself not worrying about battery life because the EAH-AZ80Es just keep on working through a normal work day.I would not hesitate to recommend the EAH-AZ80Es to anyone.

I found the Technics EAH-AZ80E-S on one of those 'best of' lists. The reviews were all generally positive, with only the price and noise-cancelling being considered an issue. My old Galaxy Buds don't have noise-cancelling, and I've never missed it. As for the price - the other models featured in the "best of" lists either had (according to reviews) some weakness that the Technics buds didn't, or were even more expensive, or both.I chose the silver/grey colourway - the brushed metal look of the case and the top side of the buds reminded me of my parents' hi-fi from way back when =DUnfortunately, I was in for an aesthetic disappointment - the colour of the plastic body of the buds isn't to my taste. In the photos, it looks like it's a cool grey that goes well with the colour of the metal covering the top. The plastic in my buds is a warmer grey - almost a pale beige - which in my eyes clashes somewhat with the colour of the metal. Both the metal and plastic are visible when I'm wearing the earbuds. The sound was an absolute epiphany, though - detailed, balanced, and clear. Whether listening to a podcast or music, these earbuds are a delight. I was also pleasantly surprised by how securely they sit in my ear, and how comfortable they are to wear, despite their size and weight.Their battery life is shorter than I'd like - maybe 6, 7 hours. And they seem to gobble up the case's power, too - it's fine for the first full charge, but only for a partial charge the second time.I haven't used them for calls yet, so can't comment on that.I don't intend to download the app, as the earbuds work fine on iOS, Android and Windows without it.
