Small enough to fit in your pocket and powered by a pair of AA batteries, the Teenage Engineering PO-16 Factory Synthesizer features multiple real synthesizer engines including FM, subtractive synthesis, wave table, and physically modeled strings with 16 punch-in effects including delay, bit crusher, and filters. It also includes 16 punch-in arpeggio and chord playing styles. The punch-in play styles are a quick way to create melodies. The concept is to minimize the effort of entering a complete series of notes in a sequence by simply adding one or a few notes and then allowing the punch-in function to fill in variations of the notes that follow. The synthesizer parameters can be locked while an auto compressor and hardware limiter ensure adequate signal generation without clipping. A 16-step sequencer features 16 available patterns and up to 16 patterns can be chained together. An integrated clock and alarm clock expands the creative possibilities of the instrument. A jam sync function with 3.5mm audio in and out connections allows for multiple synthesizer units to be linked together. Using high quality components with low power consumption, the synthesizer is cleverly designed with a Silabs EFM 32 Gecko CPU, a Cirrus Logic DAC, and a Knowles speaker placed under a novel animated LCD on a single circuit board. A fold out stand makes it easier to play and rear panel speaker solder terminals allow you hook up the unit to a larger sound system. An optional tailor made silicone pro case (sold separately) adds anti-sleep feet, battery protection, and professional feel buttons to this very unique music making device.

I already had a few POs, and wanted to see where it all started. This drum machine may be small, but it packs A LOT!The sound won't be clean hi-fi, but rather has some characterful dirt and grit. Despite being deceptively simple, it's quite usable, sound great and comes with interesting performance effects and features. For the price, you can't ask for more! But don't be fooled: it's not a toy, and can fit perfectly in a mix or in for your sample collection.

Whadya wan' for 60 euros? This. This lil' bee's sting right here. It'll stick a pointer up your b-ox and you will be able to set a bass line that kicks your genitalia--and everyone else's sexualised erotic neuronal pathways--like nobody's business. And ain't that what we want from music? Passion, pathos, tension/release, the whole bedroom in a box phenom, right? Yeah, if you want flowers light and breezy and clinique you can probably do that here, but if you want sex in every form from garbage to minima you would not do anybody any harm by bringing this boite with you at all times. It ain't gonna bites your breasts off like a Moog, but it will tickle your tiger in that bass chasing dog kinda way. You don't need the technical specs right? I know that's a bit strong, but how many machines are able to transcend the life-death barrier and come back and talk about it--or at least make a baseline out of it? You want life and death shenanigans you came to the right hole in the wall mr and missus.

I think it's a great little device, but this one didn't thrill me like the po-12 or the po-133 I had bought previously. I can't tell whether drum machine and sampler concepts fit into the pocket operator form factor better, or that I'm harder to impress with audioequipment now. Like drum machines don't usually require midi.5 stars because I still play with it almost every day after a month of use, and I do use it to make cool stuff that sounds good to me.I'd recommend this to someone who wanted to try their first pocket operator, who wants synth sounds, but wouldn't mind limited control. If you're someone looking to advance beyond a pocket operator ever and your looking at this because the budget is tight, I might advise you look at a Korg Volca Keys or ... MoreI think it's a great little device, but this one didn't thrill me like the po-12 or the po-133 I had bought previously. Fun to play or to experiment. The sounds are gritty and you can hear them online. Sequencing and effects are not really intuitive, but you'll get there. The thing that kind of kills it is that it's not chromatic. You're stuck in C major. There's an ugly workaround on YouTube but it's a pretty big limitation for me.
What a rad little synth for so little money! I picked this up used, already having owned a PO-12 but having no instructions, and within five minutes it was synced to my Volca setup and Bastl Kastle. These things are a bargain at twice the price! I still havent delved too deeply into it because it only just arrived, but already I am stoked!
I am a bigger fan of the PO-12 Rhythm, but this one is super fun too! I have them sitting on my desk at home, and I just play around with them when I'm bored. A fun and creative pastime when I'm bored at work :)As for the device itself: so satisfyingly well designed and constructed. Nearly perfect!
Mine was a returned item: so I got open box, the upper tab removed and a fat discount :-); other than that the unit functions perfectly.Pocket Operators are a lot of fun and I already got a cople. I am a guitar player and I use them to build small jam along tunes or, rarely, perform small live electronic sets for friends. Once you learn to use them, they are a simple and fast way to create music without relying to a computer (wich I am not a fan of). This one is really a powerful, probably the most powerful, pocket operator. It is also the most complicated to learn (but not by much) and it has great expressive possibilities. The loaded samples are very good, and you can build full songs out of them but, of course, the fun is building YOUR samples collection and ... MoreMine was a returned item: so I got open box, the upper tab removed and a fat discount :-); other than that the unit functions perfectly.Pocket Operators are a lot of fun and I already got a cople. And you can back up them! They say audio quality is low... that this is only a toy... not for professional use... then they spend a fortune for a vintage casio sk (a vintage toy synth of course) just because some famous artist used it. Just let me play with my new toy and shut up.
nice little lead numeric synth. as small as a credit card. Sound interesting but limited in a certains way the effect help to correct that. Ideal for beginner and for peoples who want to experiment. Look like a toys but its not . Unfortunnately , it miss an midi input. Great for the price you can have fun with it and may be can be insert in a professional track
I have a few other pocket operators - this one does not disappoint. If all you need is a simple portable drum machine, this works great. But adding the lead sounds and effects really takes this to another level. You would be surprised at the range of sounds and styles you can get from this thing. The ability to sync this with many midi and CV capable devices makes this a great machine.
