My previous fryer failed so I bought this as a replacement thinking it did the same thing, But is is much more basic. It fries the chips fine but it doesn't have any warning to tell you when the fat is up to temperature and no fat filter. I had those on the last one which was excellent - same brand but different model. It's quite small but caters enough for two or three people. A family of 4 or more with growing hungry kids might find it too small.

It states in your product description JL: This model can be fully dismantled; the bowl, basket and lid are all removable and dishwasher safe, which ensures washing up is a breeze.List fulfilled by this model, bought, prepared and cooked chips.Then found amongst the paperwork in the box a single sheet that states: Contrary to what is written in the instructions or in the packaging, the lid cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher due to the aggressive nature of cleaning agents (Tablets/Liquid and Powders) on the market. Only hand washing is allowed.Purchase otherwise met our requirements and pleased with "proper" chips.Please JL update your product description.

This fryer is both easy to use and easy to clean. I recommend using it under a cooker hood but that's not essential as it's designed to be used with a vented lid after the first minute or so. It is much easier and safer to use than a conventional chip pan and the recommended temperatures and cooking times seem to work well. The four parts - oil bath, heating element & controls, basket and lid - come apart easily making cleaning straightforward.

Although it appears a bit tinny, the fat heats up very quickly. The shape lends itself for taking up less space than a conventional round one for storing on the worktop and again under the extraction, on the hob, still room to cook other things.The folding handle is a good idea, however it does drip when unfolding to cook because the hinge is in the oil. The 'full' mark is difficult to see and not a lot of difference between full and not enough oil to cook, but once you get used to it it's fine.It takes 3 litres to fill from new, so when purchasing put a large bottle on the grocery order list.Easy to keep clean. I like it. Bought when JL had discount too. What's not to like and with a 2 year guarantee that you don't get elsewhere. Well done JL
An amazing piece of equipment well worth the money. I needed a deep fat fryer for cooking pheasant goujons once a week during the pheasant shoot season. Having never had a fryer before I was apprehensive about its reliability to stand the course. I am amazed and delighted, it's so easy to use, comes apart so easily and the basket and fat container can be put in the dishwasher so no messy bits to wash.Highly recommend this product.

As I live alone my portions tend to be small therefore they cook a bit quicker. There is a detachable handle and most Importantly a thermostat cut off. I use beef dripping as it adds to the flavour, personal choice. I would like to point out having read a lot of reviews, there are instructions in English, not a lot but sufficient, also, the highest temperature is 190° but when food is put into basket the temperature drops to 170° and remains so. Really easy to set up and to use. Most of the parts are dishwasher safe, which is a bonus. Easy to pour out the oil when you are done and makes really great fried food. We haven't used it often as it's for the occasional treat, but made churros, doughnuts and tempura all successfully.
Good Points: This is very easy to use. It is sturdy with a good basket and handle. It's a good size to cook for 2 adults and when cool very easy to move and store - the handle folds backwards taking up less room. Heats up quickly. Food is cooked well. Easy to wash/clean.Improvement Points: The instructions were useless. Although it was advertised as dishwasher safe when it arrived there was a very clear warning note stating that the lid must not go in the dishwasher. That said the lid is easily washed by hand. The only real negative point is the emptying and filtering of the oil, which I've found difficult and a nuisance. A filtration and storage feature would be better.
Good Points: I love that you can put this in the dishwasher after you've used it. Pour the cooled oil back into the bottle and pack it all away. Perfect if you only use it occasionally. It's just big enough for our family - I do chips in 2 batches - pretty much fully do the first batch, then do the second batch, then pop the first batch in for 30 seconds to heat them back up. It's a great fryer. I would definitely recommend. So much so that I bought one for my best friend who had been making chips on the hob - I was worried she might set the house on fire! I feel safe using this with it pushed right back into the corner of the unit. Have even let my teenage daughter use it.
I will be returning this product; I am extremely disappointed with my purchase. After reading and following the instructions I used the product for the first time tonight; the product failed to produce good results. Our evening meal ending up in the bin!During cooking the product struggled to maintain a constant cooking temperature. I decided to check the actual cooking temperature using a digital cooks thermometer; setting the appliance to its maximum temperature of 190c I waited for the red light to indicate the appliance had reached its set temperature; using the digital cooks thermometer the temperature reading showed 149c; the temperature appeared to fluctuated between 135c and 149c and failed to reach the maximum temperature for the appliance (190c).
