Does five SATA HDDs in RAID 5 over USB 3.1 type-c as fast as possible. Perfect, simple, small, silent-y, well-built, well-designed and inexpensive, too. For me, THE Mac Time Machine appliance. Easy config and setup. Exceeds my expectations.

Extremely easy to set up. It has all hardware required (even a magnetic screwdriver). Took me only 5 minutes to have assembled and it running. Keep in mind - in order to setup a RAID - you will need a Windows or Mac PC. After that - you can use it on any system, which has USB (2.0, 3.0, 3.1)

I had been struggling with on and off unreliability with my Drobo 5D for years along with terrible tech support by the company. I finally gave up and on the advice of Alfred from B&H, I purchased the TerraMaster. I have had this device for about a month and I am happy to report it runs beautifully. It is solid, quiet, and efficient. Paired with Carbon Copy Cloner software, my files are backed up securely on a daily basis.
Setup is straightforward. RAID5 is what I was after and this enclosure is designed for that. With a pair of these on different floors in the house mirroring each other, I have greater peace of mind. Some data can't be replaced.
It had appeared to be a good product when it works. the product is 3 months old. On 3 separate occasions, after performing well, the D5 300 abruptly upon a normal computer restart failed. The Terramaster was corrupted and inaccessible. I followed there instructions to the letter in reformatting each time. The issue became when I reached out to Terra Master, who promises 24 hour help, after disclosing the issue they asked if it was NFTS , which I replied yes , i also stated it was set up raid 5 . Terra Master has refused to respond. There is no excuse for not providing the promised help. I have never experienced this problem with Synology, Western Digital nor Seagate.
