It works! Inexpensive and simple to use. My comet goldfish love it. It’s also much cleaner than flakes. I used it as an alternative food source as a test and I highly recommend it. They eat this throughout the day and I give them worms or shrimp twice a day as treats and to balance the diet. Will surely be purchasing again. More photos coming soon.

6 Day Vacation, all fish are healthy!

Went away for 6 days, all fish are thriving, water is clear (20 Gal Tank). We had a choice of paying a sitter to stop in occasionally, which would have been about $35. We took a chance and it worked as advertised. I read some fish didn't eat the food, so I loosened the food in 3 small spots with a paperclip. I was surprised when placed in the tank that it floated upside down. The fish (12), mostly Tetras and guppies, almost immediately showed interest. Upon our return the food was at the bottom of the tank, approximately 1/3 of the food was eaten. For me, as long as my fish were alive, this product did its job. I would buy again and recommend!

I bought this and went on vacation. I am so glad I had someone drop in a different feeder during the middle of my time away. When I came back after 3 weeks, this feeder was the same size as when I put it in, and one of my fish was dead. Buy something, anything else! Or deal with the consequences when you return.

DO NOT BUY! MESSED UP MY LEVELS!
11 August 2021

So I had my fishes for a few months and my levels were always fine. No ammonia no nothing. I was so proud too cause it was my first fish tank. But I do I had to go on a trip and had no one to feed them. So I bought this…. I check my levels every week btw ever since I first made my tank before even getting my fishes and after. After I came back home while being away hoping this would do a good job… I saw my tank FILTHY and most of it still there. My babies barely ate it. I had to clean the tank like I always do and maybe I should have gotten rid of the sand completely but got rid of half of it cause it was truly filthy. The ammonia has been so high that I’m nervous and tried everything. It screwed up my tank completely and also there were lil insects that looked like ... MoreSo I had my fishes for a few months and my levels were always fine. No ammonia no nothing. Do not buy. Fish don't eat this
12 August 2017

I bought this vacation feeder almost a week before I left for a 6 week trip. I read the Tetra web page carefully. I saw that this product had many bad reviews, and some good ones. I followed the directions given in the Tetra website to change more of the water than I usually do.Before I left, my fish showed no interest in the feeder. They ate nothing. When I was away, the two people watching over my house also saw that the fish would not eat this product. They removed the first feeder and tried a second one. Still the fish would not touch the feeder. My friends were coming by most weekdays, and they ended up feeding the fish their usual Tetra tropical flakes on those days. So my fish survived just fine.I returned the feeders to Petco, got a refund, and asked ... MoreI bought this vacation feeder almost a week before I left for a 6 week trip. I then talked to the person who usually helps me in the fish area. This person said, "Well, it's up to corporate." I then asked to talk to a manager and requested that Petco stop carrying this product.

I wouldn’t If I where you

DO NOT BUY. We used it in a 55 Gallon Tank. We left our healthy fish with this product. When we returned my husband checked on our fish. He told me in no other words for me to not enter the room. All our fish where dead. Not only one. All of them. What a heartbreak. Never again will we purchase this product again.

Killed my only betta fish.
4 April 2018

Killed my betta! Per instructions was a disc dropped. Seven day getaway to come back to extremely brown murky water that left me panicking to find our fish. He was dead at the bottom of the tank with body looked wasting and melting away. Felt so awful for the way he suffered and died. Buried him with my kids. This product should not be sold anymore or the instructions need to be changed based on some more testing. I also should have read other reviews that this product killed their fish and should have tested myself before leaving on vacation. I had this betta for almost one year now. We had a filter system, a five gallon tank, and change and clean his water routinely. We have test strips to test his water and only buy spring water from the store. Tested his water with test strips. His death is not caused by our tank, water, or filter system at all. Definitely at least not until Tetra vacation feeder was used. And he was very lively when we left. Absolutely do not recommend.

Not a Good Fit for a Small Bowl
8 April 2019

I bought this before going out of town for a week. I left the tablet in my beta's 3 gallon bowl and hoped it would. When we came home after a 9 day trip, the tank was a murky tea color and lots of algae had grown on the water surface and tank decorations. Fish was fine, and we just swapped out the water.Giving it a 5 star rating because:* It did its job (kept our boy alive for 9 days)* I was expecting the tank to be even filthier.. I just have a 3 gallon bowl and this tab is obviously meant for a larger tank with multiple fish. The instructions cover large tanks, but don't go into details about the number of fish you're housing so I just tried to err on the side of caution.Next time, I'm going to try using half of the tab and see how that goes.

Terrible product
23 July 2022

I bought 2 of these for a 10 day vacation. They float which keeps the corys and plecos from feeding. And none of the other fish ate off of the feeders anyway. I’m glad my daughter could come by and check on the tanks while we were gone. Total waste of money.
