I’ve had my share of hiking sandals but none felt like sandals, just heavy vented shoes. I think my problem was buying hiking sandals from hiking shoe companies and not looking at sandal companies for hiking sandals. My last pair (Keen), trapped rocks in the sandals, the sandals was so difficult to put on that I would suffer with the rocks under my foot rather than try to remove the sandals and put them back on. Most of my sandals have last 2-3 hikes before I gave up on them. Not this Teva.I’ve worn the Hurricane XLT2 Teva on 4 hikes already and I’ve had zero issues. They feel like sandals and the sole has plenty of support and protection from the terrain. I’ve yet to stub my toe which was a big concern.I’m in between sizes so got a size above per recommendation. ... MoreI’ve had my share of hiking sandals but none felt like sandals, just heavy vented shoes. When I got the sandals I was really worried it was too big but with three adjustable straps, it was never an issue. I slid my foot as far forward as possible and strapped down the heel strap so my foot wouldn’t slide and it hasn’t. Another concern was the plastic triangle holding the straps was hitting a knuckle when I tried it on. But once on the trail it wasn’t an issue and I totally forgot about it.I’m really happy with this purchase. I had been looking at this sandals for some time but they always sold out. If this one ever ware out, I’ll purchase the exact same one. No more shopping around.

These are great sandals to walk around in and for hiking; however, they need to be broken in. I had only worn them for short level hikes before I took them on miles of uneven terrain. The toe strap on both sides cut my foot right below both my big toes. A week later and I'm still needing to bandage up both my feet. In all other aspects, these sandals are great. They are very supportive, comfortable (other than the big toe area), and have good traction on all types of terrain. I am a size 8-8.5 in women's and the M6/W8 fit perfect. I would definitely recommend these, but say to be cautious about the toe straps.

I picked up these sandals to serve as my water shoes on a recent trip canoeing in the Boundary Waters. I was nervous about their ability to workout for portaging the canoe, but another camper who had done it before assured me it would be fine. And wouldn't you know it, it was!I didn't buy these in advance enough to fully get used to where the straps land, but despite that (and after spending a while adjusting them), I only got a couple small blisters right at the end of the trip. This was with constantly getting in and out of water and hiking bags or canoes through portages.I never felt like my feet got specifically tired because of my shoes. They stayed decently anchored even when trying to take big steps in water, or when my feet got stuck in deep mud. They felt decently secure over wet surfaces and rocks (I didn't slip any more than anyone else, at least.)I'm looking forward to continuing to use these a lot at home as they look pretty nice, and they'll probably be my go-to water shoes for most things going forward.

I bought these to replace a pair of Tevas that finally blew out a strap after 10 years of heavy use. On their 2nd day I wore the new ones to the trailhead for a 3 day backpack trip, only to find I had left my hiking boots at home. On went the Tevas, over a pair of waterproof socks. On trail they were awesome, good traction and stability. Off trail I stuck to heather meadows and low angle terrain. Snow fields were a little sketchy, boulder fields were risky for broken toes and sprained ankles, and scree was right out. But hey, they're sandals! Great traction and no blown straps. Scrubbed them clean when I got home and they look brand new. 5 stars!
I've owned these sandals for about a month now. Upon my first few wears I proclaimed to my girlfriend that it was one of the greatest purchases I've ever made. Unfortunately I've had to walk back that statement (no pun intended). After about a week the left sandal started squeaking loudly and also kind of feels squishy under foot. After another week the straps started fraying. The Velcro pieces are unraveling or something so there are long strings of nylon hanging off. These issues make for a somewhat annoying wear and they definitely cost this product some points in my opinion. That being said however, they are very comfortable and supportive, and look great too. I would buy these again one day and hope to not have these problems again. If I did then I would stay ... MoreI've owned these sandals for about a month now. Buyer beware. 3/5.
I like that they were comfortable on my feet with very little break in. Wore them periodically around the house for a couple of days and adjusted the straps here and there till i got both feet fitting in the sandals to my liking. This review is for the Teva Hurricane xlt2 . I since have ordered another pair of Teva sandals and this time i purchased original universal cotopaxi . The hurricanes were a more subdued color Atmosphere black/ grey and the cotopaxi are bright and flashy. One suggestion would be to offer the custom line as a standard of purchase for very little cost increase rather than $140 a pair. I had dabbled into a custom pair and found colors i really liked but cannot justify the price after i was done .
These are the best sandals, possibly the best footwear I've ever worn. I wore them at an amusement park all day and my feet did not hurt once!! Even my bad foot which cramps often very easily was completely fine until about 8 hours of walking around. I should also note that they were not "broken in" as this was my first time every wearing them. Sure the strap was a bit stiff but nothing that was too uncomfortable. I would wear these 24/7 365 if I could!!! They are a bit pricey but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. Amazing! (Some people mentioned sizing issues, I am a half size and went down as recommended and they fit well)
At first, the little plastic triangle was absolutely KILLING my feet as it sat right where my foot bends when I walk. After researching online, I found out I was wearing them too far back. I loosened all the straps, placed my foot squarely on the arch, and tightened the heel strap snuggly without moving my foot. Then I went for the toe strap, making sure to flex my foot a bit so it'd be loose. Finally, I strapped the ankle strap, leaning forward on my foot so it wouldn't be too tight when I lift my foot up.Now my toes are right at the end of the sandal (which isn't awesome, I'd rather have a bit of buffer there) but the triangle doesn't hurt, and I can wear them every day with now complaints!I've even played Spikeball in them and that wasn't half bad!
First off I'm a TEVA fan; had my last pair for years no issues. I wanted a new pair for jungle hiking and beach. I live in my sandals when by the beach. So I tried these on for two days starlight before I left. Comfortable at first but noticed some red marks on top of my foot by the the end of Day 1 by the front strap. By the end of the second day the front strap had caused noticeable skin irritation on top of my foot in two spots after putting in about 10+ miles on these. (paved walking, 1 mile on a fire trial) I tried to size down and tried a different pair, no go. Had to return the product.Bottom line if you have soft top feet or sensitive skin in the top front part of your foot the front strap may not be comfortable for you. I love these sandals. They are comfy, and they look cool. Sadly, this pair started falling apart on me after just one year. On both sandals the bottom layer of the sole started to separate from the upper layer. By the time I got them in to REI to ask about an exchange, the bottom layer on both was about half off, and flopping around everywhere when I walked. REI said they’d never seen anything like that before - like maybe I got a defective pair. They allowed me to swap them out for another pair of the same. We’ll see what happens. If I can’t get these to last longer than a year I’ll switch back to Chacos.
