I really wanted to like these shoes, but they cause a very specific pain in my feet on the far outside by my toes. I THINK they would otherwise be very comfortable hiking shoes, but I have to be careful about how I step or redistribute my weight to avoid a shooting and uncomfortable pain. I have never experienced this before with any pair of shoes. I have owned them for a few months now and breaking them in has not fixed the issue. They really cute and I wanted to love them. Would return them if I could.

Super comfortable. I have an ankle that is pretty finicky and these had great ankle stability. I hiked 30 miles in them without any issue to my ankle. Only giving it 4 stars because little tiny rocks got inside the seams somehow and I cannot get them out. So I now have permanent rocks in them.

My 7 year old Vasques gave out and I needed a new pair of boots. I bought these last night and took them on a 5 mile hike today. They felt fantastic right out of the box, and were very comfortable the whole hike. No break in time needed! I prefer good ankle support in my boots and I felt pretty supported by these, while still have the flexibility I needed for some scrambling. So far loving these and would recommend them, but I’ll review again in a few months after some more use. I got my regular size 9 and they fit perfectly with my preferred lightweight socks, but those who like to wear a thicker sock might want to consider sizing up.

I really wanted to like these shoes, but they cause a very specific pain in my feet on the far outside by my toes. This boot was very sneaker-like. Seemed sort of comfortable, toe box seemed roomy, but it seemed kinda cheaply built in my opinion. The inside didn’t offer much support and the outside didn’t seem durable, overall more like a fashion boot not something that would hold up in various conditions and terrain, i was concerned it wouldn’t be comfortable at mile 5 on a rocky slope. For the price I decided to return and not risk it. I do seek the vibrum sole so this got my attention as I was looking to replace an ahnu boot which fit like a glove (haha) thought this was it, but not so much.
I purchased these boots for a 2 week hiking trip across Israel and Jordan. The weather in Israel was HORRIBLE with non stop RAIN, hail, cold, and windy weather. These boots kept my feet WARM & DRY!! I was amazed at how well they worked to keep the rain out even though I was standing in and stepping in puddles of water. If that wasn't good enough, I also hiked to the top of the Ruins in Petra in Jordan in these boots. That trail is not SAFE, but the grip on these boots kept me from going over the side of the mountain. I didn't even slip while climbing up and over the boulders and the boots also have great ankle support!It's important to note that I also have plantar fasciitis and was averaging no less than 18,000 steps a day in these boots and my feet didn't hurt ... If you plan on wearing socks, then I recommend going up a half or full size. Once you lace them up they fit snug to protect the ankles and to keep the water out so that needs to be taken into consideration.

Yesterday, I did a 9.5 mile hike and today my feet are killing me, which unfortunately, has been a common outcome of distance hikes for me in these. I would say these can be great shoes but definitely not go-to boots for all your hiking needsThat said, they are waterproof, I've forded streams and stepped directly into puddles that were deeper than I thought they'd be, my feet always come up dry. They're also quite durable, the color has faded but the seams and soles are in good nick; the boot remains intact. I've tried different levels of sock thickness, lacing configurations and even pretaping my hotspots but consistently around mile 3-4 ... I am so disappointed I had to return these. I have been wearing Ahnu, then Teva Montana boots for 5 years to hike mountains. I ordered these because it said “over the ankle” boots. I had also ordered the grand view hiking shoes “under the ankle” & both versions sit under the ankle at the same height! So I can’t wear these hiking. The wording is misleading as they are the same height.
I'm not sure how no one has mentioned how large these run. I bought the Ahnu a few years ago in a size 7.5. My foot is a 7, but wear 1/2 size bigger to allow for foot swelling on the trails. I decided to buy a 7.5 in the Ridgeview since Ahnu's are no longer available and made the mistake of assuming the sizing would be the same. Wrong! My foot is swimming in these. End to end both shoes are approx. 11 inches in length, HOWEVER the Ahnu has extra length in the sole at the heel. If you look at where your heel actually starts in the boot vs. the sole, you'll see how much longer the Ridgeview is. I took pics and put a measuring tape in a straight line across so it's easier to see the difference in length. I would suggest sizing 1/2 to a full size down. I ordered the ... I'll update here once I receive.Aside from the sizing discrepancy (reason for 3 stars), the ankle height around the boot is slightly shorter than the Ahnu, but softer, and the shoelaces are shorter and fatter, but it's better not having so much lace and they stay in place better.At the top of the laces, instead of 2 hooks like the Ahnu, they have 2 orange tabs the laces go into. I didn't think I would like not having hooks, but I actually like these tabs as they seem to grab onto the laces and hold them in place better which is appreciated when trying to tie boots tight.They feel lightweight and much less clunkier than other hiking boots I've tried on. They don't feel as cushiony as the Ahnu and are wider in the toe box and across the arch and heel.
Worn for about 2 hours in 60 degree weather and feet were sweaty. I bought them for summer landscaping work as I wanted something lighter and hopefully more breathable than my more durable leather boots. Don't think I will fair well in them with real summer weather.... Very spacious toe box. Feels nice but makes you less sure footed.
I bought these hiking shoes specifically because they are waterproof. I have worn the twice in fairly heavy rain and they did not disappoint.! I have also worn them street walking because I don't have other waterproof shoes. Generally this if for 3-6 miles. They are comfortable and warm.I am very happy with my purchase. True to sneaker size ( which is generally a tad bigger than regular shoe)
