TI-84 Graphing CalculatorI'm a senior in a high school and I've used this calculator since 7th grade. I have learned lots of the tricks and shortcuts while using it. It has a curved shape that fits nicely into your hand and feels good. As far as a calculator goes, it's pretty thick, but it isn't too heavy. The rubber pads on the back make it easy to place on any slope of desk if your hand does start to get tired. Not only does it look awesome, but it works that way too. It's very user-friendly and straightforward if you know what and where the functions you want to use are. Included on the calculator are all the tools you would ever need to succeed in a school class from calculus to statistics to trigonometry to algebra. The cover easily slides on and off the front which protects the screen from damage while you're carrying it around, but it also slides on the back for easy storage while you are utilizing the calculator's designed purpose: to calculate. The only complaint I have with the calculator is the hefty price. But, like I said, I've been using it for six years now and haven't had any problems with it. The calculator has served its purpose, and continue to serve for many years. The price is high, but it's well worth it. I would hate to do all the calculations in my AP Stats class by hand. I'm grateful to the calculator for providing me with answers in my time of need. I'm grateful to Texas Instruments for their dedicated service and research that had produced such a great product. I recommend this calculator to anyone who is searching for a better life.

A decent product, with a plethora of features!

I have used this product for a month and I am satisfied with how responsive it is to the input commands. I have not tinkered with the included USB mini cable but it is good to know that there is a wide range of extra functionality available to install for it. This device enters sleep mode automatically, which is a lifesaver considering that it runs on battery power. I am a satisfied customer and look forward to discovering more of its features.

This is a very technically advanced Calculator that has helped me successfully solve so many math equations! One of the best I’ve ever had. I’m 60 and taking advanced math for the first time in 40+ years. Of course I also had to learn how to use the calculator but having learned it definitely simplifies things for me. While it was a bit costly it was a great investment.

Got three different versions of the TI-84 Plus... Silver can be gotten for $50, used. That's best selling point.

I have two TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculators, a TI-84 Plus CE and this TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. Why? Well, I got one TI-83 Plus for $2.50 at a thrift store. Another for $7.50 with the manual (unopened) at a thrift store and use these two when I take my calculator into places where they might get robbed (I live in Phoenix, and sometimes go to events downtown; bringing the calculator if I get bored). Also, EVERY SOFTWARE works for the TI-83 Plus and the TI Keyboard that I have works nicely to program on it. However, it's small and I *LIKE* having, and using, MathPrint. I don't know why it got such bad reviews. Slows it down? Just how fast do you need a graphing calcuator to be? What, are you rendering 3D images on it? Thus, this is the best they got, still having the old capability to add the wonderful keyboard to it. Thus, this one can connect with the simpler cord and also take the keyboard to program easier on it. However, I can only get TI-Connect working on an old Windows XP computer that I have. Can't get it working properly on Windows 7 64 bit. The CE? Love it; but it doesn't allow use of the keyboard. Why couldn't they have combined BOTH interfaces with it; so it would also still work with the TI Keyboard. Don't like that Assembly language is different (more tokens; soif anybody uses those functions the program will break). Oh well. I love the bigger screen of the CE, love the backlight. Love the extra space. Love the speed. Which is the best, best, best one of the three? Hmmmmm... Probably the CE 1st, this Silver 2nd, and coming in last is the TI-83 Plus (for obvious reasons).

My experience

Value: Texas Instruments responds to questions via email, can be reached by phone, and has troubleshooting info online. That’s IF you have trouble years down the road.Ease of use: It takes some effort to learn the power and variety of how to use this calculator in math and science applications, but that is easily facilitated by concise public instructive videos.

Pricey but pays off

I bought this for my daughter for high school. It didn’t quite show in the picture just how bulky it is. Compared to the others I’ve seen, I was pretty surprised when we got it. So far, she said it’s pretty easy to operate and is holding it’s charge well. Just wish it was a bit more reasonable in price.

School Requirement and I had to buy it for my son.

The calculator works as expected, there is no issues about the performance. The only draw back is the price which it is too expensive for what it does. You can do more with your cell phone with a free software or you just can buy different applications for a small fraction of the cost, order a pizza, watch a movie and still have some money left for the next 2 days.. I am not saying that the product has issues or its bad because Texas Instruments is a Great Company. Perhaps there might be many other hidden features that I am not aware, ore just simply, I am not the person to speak about the product other than what it can do versus the price, it is not practical. Over all The product is good because of the Company behind it, The product might be appealing to engineers, scientists, mathematicians, physicists, advance students. Unfortunately there is not an option to check I do not know if I can or cannot recommend this product other than leaving it at the consumers discretion. I will leave the check mark on the yes by default.

So Far So good
31 August 2020

First of all, who knew that calculators can be expensive. I bought this for my son before he went of to college. In my research this calculator constantly popped up as one of the top calculators. Yes, there are other calculators that have more features and color. But, this does the trick and is simpler to use. Several of the complaints from the other more expensive and colorful calculators was their complexity. Most stated that you spend more time trying to figure out how to use it than calculating the problem. So far so good this calculator has everything my son needs for his schoolwork. It is also approved for use on exams such as ACT, SAT. Most calculator requested by instructors!

Way too expensive for what it is

It's the TI-84 Graphing Calculator. It's the standard calculator for schools. It's easy to use. It's also built around the Zilog Z80 microprocessor--a microprocessor that first went on the market in 1976. This calculator descends from the TI-81, which entered the market in 1990. The first TI-84 entered the market in 2004. These calculators are by now dirt cheap to make and the R&D costs have long since been recovered. They should be checkout lane impulse buys by now.But they're the calculators all the schools use because they're the calculators in all the math textbooks. So they charge this much because they can.Yes, I would "recommend this to a friend", but only grudgingly, because I know it' the calculator all the other kids are using and it's probably the ... MoreIt's the TI-84 Graphing Calculator. a reasonable purchase for my needs

I bought 8 of these school bus yellow TI-84Plus calculators to replace ones that had been taken from my classroom. All 8 were in working order with unblemished displays. Even though I didn't need them, they did not come with link cables or CD's as advertised. One of the calculators was missing the back-up lithium battery. One of the calculators had significant battery acid leakage which I easily cleaned up. One of the calculators had the "School Property" label scratched off the front side, which is usually a good indication that it was either stolen from a school or the district disposed of the calculator, and the new owner did not want the label visable. Six of the calculators were missing all six of the tiny non-skid rubber feet; the other two were missing 3 or 4 of the feet. One of the calculators was missing the large rubber foot at the bottom. The missing feet was a disappointment, because they do help keep the calculators from sliding around on your desk. They came with operating systems varying from version 2.30 to 2.40 to 2.53 to 2.55, but these can be updated or changed relatively easily. One had a cracked cover, but I don't use the covers for the classroom, so it didn't bother me that much. All of them had some kind of engraved identifying marks on them fromprevious schools/owners, but I found plenty of space on the back to engrave our own school identifying marks. The main thing is that they were all in working order with clearly visible buttons and unblemished screens.
