The set has all your basic colours to allow you to mix and blend to make any colour you need, plus leather and flesh tones to save you from having to mix those yourself. It would be even better with a second metallic tone, to enable some variation in metallics, but that's a minor complaint. Not all colours are created equal here, with a few of the lighter colours going on slightly patchy, but every paint brand has one or two colours that are on the weaker side. Overall, the paints are highly pigmented and thin down wonderfully. The set comes with their "strong tone" wash (a great timesaver), but the paints are high quality enough that you can thin down any colour to create washes of your own.

includes all the basic colors, which can be mixed. High quality paint with good coverage and consistency. Even get to try out an effect. Would be nice to have basic metallic included (ie silver and gold)

This set is great for beginners. It has all the colors you need to get started without overwhelming you with color choices. The free starter brush is a great bonus. What’s more, two of the bottles have primer and quickshade, the former necessary for painting and the latter of which really makes the details pop out on your minis. Great set.

Army painter paints are on par quality wise with Vallejo, and Citadel. But for a cheaper price. They do have one downside tho, thats led to many to not fully give them a chance, and thats they do not perform best right off the bat, the paints have a thick heavy pigment compared to other brands, and it settles quite badly when stored for extended periods.Best thing to do is, get a pack of their steel mixing balls, they are some of the best on the market.Using some pliars pop the tip out of the bottle and drop 1-2 balls in the bottle, and using the handle of a brush or some other mixing stick, give the paint as really good stir, scraping the sides and bottom of the bottle. Then give them a really thorough shake, and once mixed well, they come out vibrant and ... MoreArmy painter paints are on par quality wise with Vallejo, and Citadel. Then give them a really thorough shake, and once mixed well, they come out vibrant and cover really well.Army painter is my go to for normal colors when I can get them, as the quality is fantastic and the price is even better.9/10 you see someone complaining about army painter having poor quality paints, its a matter of they never mixed them right. If you can afford it, one of those vortex paint mixers are great to own if you plan to get serious in the hobby too.
This is a great starter set with some primary colors to help mix your own if these don't work. I use a lot of the metal, wash, and flesh tone included in this kit, and you can find single bottles to reorder once you work thru them as needed.
This set of paints (with a few addons like gold and copper) cover just about every basis you would need for painting humanoid miniatures. It comes with a good brush and an instruction booklet, but I didn't use the latter as I had already researched everything about painting my first mini. The paints look beautiful even when watered down. If you don't use preprimed minis like from wizkids, don't forget to get some primer!
Fantastic set to get a beginner, nervous about if they like the hobby enough to jump in, started. The paints are great quality, go on easy, and the wash makes it a game changer.
Are you going to paint minis? Yes? Cool, so shut up and buy this. SHHH! Buy this. You're welcome.
I ordered these, more as a general replacement/top up because I was running low on a bunch of standard colours. It is the first I have used Army Painter products. As they have been criticised for, by others, you have to shake the heck out of them before use. Once you do though the coverage is smooth and complete. The brush it comes with is nice too. I'd recommend it, just make sure to warm up your arm so you don't pull anything.
absolutely the best paint for all hobbyist. the colors are rich and saturated. the constancy of the paint is perfect for everything from base coats to fine details. the dropper top makes controlling how much you dispense very easy. i have used these for a while now and will never buy another brand again. there's no need to because they hit every mark I'm looking for.
