This is required reading if you want to learn the awk programming language; IMO, this is the definitive text as it's by the authors (A)ho, (W)einberger, and (K)ernighan. Sure, the information is available on the internet, but everything you need to learn is right here. It starts with the basics and moves to advanced topics, like pattern matching, internal functions, user functions, etc. The book's examples were developed on unix, but still should be useful for a Window's programmer wanting to learn awk. Be advised that this is an old book (1987) so it does not cover the newer GNU extensions (i.e. Linux) of awk.

Well, what can you say that hasn't been said before? This is the timeless classic on the AWK programming language. It is written by the language creators: Aho, Weinberger and Kernighan. Even though I already know AWK fairly well and have read this book before, I still decided to buy it. Highly recommended.
