An excellent book with much food for thought. Peters uses lots of metaphors to convey a complex subject. At times I felt these got in the way of my understanding but by the time I'd finished the book they made sense.

I've read this book more than once and I get something different from it each time. It's quite meaty but there are reflection prompts and questions at the end of each chapter. Everything is explained clearly and gave me lots of insight into how my brain actually works. Highly recommended!
Profound. Very real. Astonishingly important and relevant writing. Essentially the book talks about the importance of mind management and a number of ways in which this can be achieved. Some of the book (in effect all of the book) is about the way our brains actually function - quite outside whatever norms of outlook we might ordinarily have or have been handed down to us or supposedly correct in popular culture. The book is about reality as supported by evidence of brain function observed in brain scanner. It will challenge you, do not expect an easy read. It is hard to overestimate the quality of the content.
I was looking forward to read this book but didn't find it as useful as expected. Some chapters are better than others with good points but overall it didn't change my life as stated in some reviews. Worth buying. An interesting book written by a psychologist.
It covers the basics and a few technics that can help you on the daily basis to change the way you perceive things and help you be perceived in a more positive matter. Its easy to read and it can get very interesting. Youll be able to see and think differently if you choose to do so because its your choice to change. Great read! I enjoy it. I have six days with its and Im already halfway done!
In introducing Chimps, Gremlins and other representations for brain activities, Steve Peters has taken a unique approach to explaining how the brain processes information in decision-making. Some may find the explanations useful. However, Peters' explanatory devices may tend to be a source of additional confusion/complication, rather than an aid, to readers unfamiliar with the subject matter.Having studied psychology and being familiar with the material discussed, whilst Peters' model is useful, I found its presentation to be too convoluted and somewhat repetitive in examples/explanations for my liking.Whilst I was looking forward to reading this book, I soon found I was "pushing on with getting through it" more as a task than an enjoyable read - always hoping ... MoreIn introducing Chimps, Gremlins and other representations for brain activities, Steve Peters has taken a unique approach to explaining how the brain processes information in decision-making. An interesting concept, but one that didn't click for me. I believe there are better books available covering the same material better pitched to the man-in-the-street.
Life changing book that everyone must read. I read it cover to cover in one weekend. Will use it as a reference book for years to come. It is so easy to read and understand. I changed just a few things in the way I walked into a room and grumpy people at work who have never ever spoken to me suddenly were saying hi! Caught myself about to react to situations and was able to stop and implement the books advice to make the situation have a completely different outcome!! Amazing!!!!
I'm finding this book so helpful in coping with my broken marriage - understanding both mine and my husband's point of view! I've also given it to my teenage daughter as I think it will help with friendships and dealing with exams and school coursework. It's also helping me focus on my goals and not getting so stressed with things! I've recommended it to several friends.
