It's great to be able to go through at the beginning of the week and plan the weekly meals. Such easy quick recipes make life in the kitchen a breeze. The daily dozen is a good reference point when shopping, and the cross reference at the bottom of the recipes show how many you've had when cooking the recipe. Dr Greger's thought of everything!

This cook book is more than a way to eat a better diet. It is a paradigm shift in culinary technique, removing cooking oil, salt and sugar from cooking food. It is a totally Vegan cook book, and it presents a good range of meals free from animal products for people like you who want to eat less meat and save that money to purchase only grass-fed or organic meat and other similar animal products; better for the animals, better for the soil, better for the environment. You know it makes sense.
I am not a vegan, but I am enjoying many of these recipes. I am not super comfortable with some of the ingredients because it just isn't how I've been eating most of my life so I tend to avoid those more copying meat type recipes. I prefer the ones that are just letting the ingredients be what they are, and there are several good ones of those. It is not a "get dinner on the table quick" kind of cookbook, but I didn't expect it to be. All in all, glad I bought it.
It's worth it just for the incredible nutty parm (a vegan alternative to parmesan cheese that is even better than the "real thing" in my opinion, and I was dubious since I dislike the main ingredient, nutritional yeast). The other recipes have been over seasoned so far, but that's easy enough to fix by simply cutting back to let the natural food flavors be better balanced. The recipes have nice variety in required effort, and they are very consistent with a heart-healthy diet without being preachy or pseudo-scientific. It's all backed by good science (and good taste)!
This book is amazing, not only is it based on nutritional science but it has 4-5 items you prep and freeze or keep in a jar that goes into a lot of the dishes. None of it is hard cooking and it doesn't take hours either! I buy this for anyone who wants to boost their approach to food as medicine, who just wants to feel better or who is looking for gluten free and dairy free. Its not a fad book, its literally eat this stuff and the cells in your whole body will love you! - I buy this book for anyone who is looking to increase their food education and improve what they eat from a health perspective.
A wide variety of very healthy recipes and tips which encourages you to eat healthily. I tweak them a bit as they're quite purist but some good ideas and attractive photos. Lots of practical tips on ingredients and food preparation. Checklist for each recipe of beneficial foods included. We've enjoyed what I've made so far. Ideally read the book How not to die as well but not essential.
This is the cookbook that compliments Dr Greger's How Not to Die bestseller, espousing the value of evidence-based nutrition. This is not a book of weight-loss recipes, or particularly simple recipes (which is why I wanted the lay flat format). It is nutritious whole plant based eating. You'll need a well-stocked spice shelf, some herbs, lots of greens, beans, whole grains and other vegetables. Enjoy your health!
I just had a blood test and had a scare with high cholestrol. I m in my 30s! Upon research and repetitive articles about eating lots of greens and eating clean I think incorporating a lot of vegan recipes even if not vegan 100% of the time will be the best way to lower my bad numbers. Some people may be disgusted by the numerous recipes that use nutritional yeast as a substitute for cheese. You can always just use real cheese. I plan to make the meals as is for myself but have protien on hand to top off my partner s meal because he can t do vegan. Although I am not in love with all the recipes this recipe book shows me a way of life and how I have been eating wrong for years.
