I am on the fence about this jacket. On the one hand it's a very very cute hooded puffy down jacket of a good weight for a PNW winter that fits me and looks flattering (I'm a 00/0 or XXS/XS and bought the XS). On the other, it lacks features I'd expect to see at this price point (adjustment bungees, at least one more pocket, preferably an inside pocket) and I'd like a little more insulation so it would be useful on really cold days. It feels a tad understuffed and I worry about the down shifting when washed. But mostly it's that it looks more like a chopped off normal jacket (not as obvious in photos as when worn) than a jacket that was designed as a cropped jacket, maybe because it doesn't have a ribbed hem. I also think this cropped silhouette, which I did not realize would look this cropped, is too trendy and will look dated a few years from now. It's not super short on me (I'm 5'2" with a relatively short torso) but I'd still prefer it to be just an inch or so longer. For the sale price I might keep it, but I think I probably won't because if I'm going to spend this much I want something more classic. I can find a cute jacket about this weight (albeit not down) on Amazon for probably $30 if I really want to try the cropped puffer look.

Super cute. Love the cropped look. Not too short. Super warm. Downside- I tried on a small in the store and thought the arms were a smidge too tight so I ordered a medium online. I was surprised when I tried it on once I received the item the arms fit pretty much the same it only got bigger around the torso... no helpful for us girls that have bigger shoulders/arms. I wound up keeping it but definitely not a lot of room to layer under neither it due tot he arms being a little too small my only suggestion to the company would be to make the arm holes a little bigger to correspond with the sizing that's built in the torso.

I really like the jacket but the sizing is different than other North Face jackets I have. All of my other North Face gear is a small but I had to get a medium in this. The small was uncomfortable in the armpits and hung a little tight on the back of my neck. The medium feels good in the armpit but the rest of it is clearly too big for me and looks a little ridiculous. I'm only a 34b so it's not like I'm big chested and yet my usual size doesn't fit. Like another reviewer said, if you lift you might need to size up purely because of the chest and shoulder issue.

I bought this on a whim after owning a Men's 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket in an XS. I love the look on North Face jackets but the men's jacket I have is quite bulky so the Women's Hydrenalite Down Hoodie was the perfect addition to my jacket collection. I love how it's slightly cropped but long enough that my hips are exposed to the cold. I wear a size small and this is definitely true to size. I love this jacket and will be wearing it all winter long!
I love this coat. I bought it in Medford, Oregon. It is so warm and light weight. It reminds me of the jackets I wore in the 70’s, that were puffy and comforting. The Almond Butter color is lovely and a nice change from black.I had the opportunity to wear it on an early morning walk recently when the temperature was only 40 degrees. It kept me warm and the hood was a perfect fit, and so simple, no complex snaps, strings or adjustments.
Nice jacket. I was looking for something lightweight because I don’t care for heavy, bulky jackets. This one is warm without the extra wait. Hood stays up and protects the whole head. My only complaint is that with the lighter colors, you can see the inside feather thru the jacket. I don’t understand the logic of using black feathers to insulate a light color coat. Other than that, it’s nice.
Very warm and comfortable. Living in the PNW it can get really cold, I've worn this almost everyday since I got this jacket and love it. The hood is a great size and stays up well. The fit is true to size. I normally wear a large and purchased a large. It is still roomy enough that I can wear a hoodie or sweater underneath. I only gave the 4 stars because of the bottom of the jacket. It is an elastic bottom. I have wide hips and sometimes the jacket moves up making the it more of a crop jacket than I wanted so I am pulling down frequently, but it isn't a big enough issue to return it.
Warm but no adjusting. That’s why I took off 1 stars. Took off 1 star for no inside pocket or no place to keep gloves or hat. Can’t tighten down the bottom or the hood. The arms could have more padding so short sleeve tshirts could be worn underneath more comfortably. So far performs well in 48-52 degree weather with no or light wind. It’s comfortable and light. Fit is wide but that’s expected.
Nice jacket overall. Bought it as a christmas gift last year. It's very nice and extra warm. Great for those Texas "Dallaska" winters. The only teason I knocked off a star was because it is a little bit on the short side, length wise. Could be a deal breaker for some, it wasn't for the gift receiver in my case. Overall would recommend.
This was nice and warm, and a really pretty colour (I got boysenberry), but the shape didn’t work for my tall hourglass frame.First, the jacket was boxy and loose at the bottom, and couldn’t be cinched in, so it would let air up around my torso, which kind of defeats the purpose of a warm winter coat. There’s no good way to put this, but because I’m tall the zipper placement made it look like I had ummm ‘headlights’, which is not the look I was going for…. This might work better on someone who is shorter and with a less defined waist than me.It was deliciously cuddly and soft, which made me hesitate, but the other issues were a dealbreaker for me.
