I purchased this jacket after conducting research on the web. It certainly lives up to The North Face hype. The breathability is outstanding and heavy rain beads beautifully, only requiring the jacket to be shaken dry. Furthermore, the price charged by Ellis Brigham for the jacket was amazingly low: and it arrived after just two working days! Fabulous product, fabulous price.

Cool jacket, but material is already starting to fall apart

I have used it for occasional wear walking to and from classes at school. The outer layer soaks up water which I don't like considering it's supposed to be a rain jacket. The inner layer is the waterproof part and feels kind of weird on the skin, it's almost as if the two layers were accidentally flipped.Anyway, I've had the jacket only a year now, I take good care of it, I haven't put it through strenuous conditions, and the inside is already breaking down. The waterproofing has micro tears in areas where the jacket sits (shoulders, armpits, mid back). Which is sad because The North Face is supposed to provide attire for some of the most austere environments.

I bought this in Grey, and this coat performs perfectly. It has a well crafted design and is surprisingly robust, wouldn't really expect it for a coat, its rigid and hood withstands stronger winds (does fall off your head).Keeps you nice and warm for a coat of that size, provides nice insulation to the cold.Glad I bought it! Klarna is worth it too.The only thing I would like to mention, that little marks of dirt and stuff are kind of hard to get out, will have to properly wash it to clean (can just use a wet cloth for example). I guess its just the material, but its okay.

Futurelight is great. This jacket is just okay.
20 April 2020

Let me start with the good. Futurelight seems like an amazing product. It is extremely comfortable, in stark contrast to GoreTex Paclite which can feel like you're wearing a trash bag. This jacket was intended to replace an Arcteryx Beta SL and, in terms of breathability, it is no contest. Futurelight appears to be the real deal. Unfortunately, the design of the Dryzzle jacket itself is less impressive, feeling as though it was designed to be more walk-around-the-city-in-the-rain than hike-into-the-wilderness. In terms of sizing, it felt like I was wearing a tent-and not because I bought the wrong size. This could be a good thing if you are going to be using it as a shell over a bulky mid-layer but when worn by itself the jacket feels huge. Most of the zippers are ... MoreLet me start with the good. This could be a good thing if you are going to be using it as a shell over a bulky mid-layer but when worn by itself the jacket feels huge. Most of the zippers are not waterproof including the main zipper that opens and closes the jacket. Instead, they are covered by flaps. This design may be just as effective as a waterproof zipper without a flap but it feels dated to me, reminding me of my very first GoreTex jacket purchased in 1990. The Dryzzle also lacks a tapered hem that is higher in front and lower in back for greater mobility; and higher side pockets for easier access when wearing a pack. Both are features of my Beta SL that I've come to appreciate over time. The bottom line is that I could have lived with the Dryzzle's bulk, its straight hem, and its side pockets but I couldn't live with its dated aesthetic.

Good value for minimalist rain jacket
11 March 2023

Best air permeabie, lightweight, and travel packable jacket I've owned. It remains to be seen how durable the Futurelight lining will last compared to Goretex. I own several TNF Goretex jackets that have lasted forever but are heavier and less comfortable than Futurelight. I'm hoping Futurelight will turn out to be a really great improvement in technical garments for rain.

Great Jacket!
6 September 2023

So far so good on dryzzle days. ! Soft inside on my short sleeve shirts. Love it better than my old Resolve jacket. Waiting to see the results on a pouring rain day (monsoon). I bought this size for the following reasons. Order a size up from normal, I bought a large and it ripped down both armpits side while reaching for something! Sending that back for an exchange in size. Also, if you want room for a sweater or heavier clothing.

Great jacket
26 January 2023

I purchased this jacket for my VERY picky boyfriend. After reading the reviews I thought it would be the perfect jacket for hiking in the Northern California rains. He was very close to keeping it, which says a lot since as I mentioned he is very picky. After some back and forth he decided that he would like pit zips for ventilation just in case he wanted to wear the jacket while riding his bike.... So sorry to say, the jacket was returned. During my inspection, I thought it was a great light-weight jacket especially for the sale price. I would have liked to have seen a bit of a sturdier zipper or even snaps on the overlapping zipper vent to allow for more comfort flexibility and ventilation. Overall I would give this product without ever having been worn a 4 star. ... MoreI purchased this jacket for my VERY picky boyfriend. Not perfect but pretty close

I’ll start with the good: This jacket is by a quantum mile the most breathable and comfortable rain jacket I’ve ever owned. FUTURELIGHT doesn’t feel stuffy like a half-finished dryer cycle like most GORE-TEX jackets do. It’s also just as home in an urban setting as in the mountains since it doesn’t have that “technical” look which plagues many rain jackets. The bad: The significantly increased breathability over GORE-TEX comes at the cost of weather resistance. If you’re stuck in a heavy enough downpour for enough time, it will begin to “wet out” particularly around the seams and pockets. I found that treating BOTH the inside and outside of the jacket with a waterproofing spray every couple of months does help cut back on this. However I would not quite count on it for a long hike where sustained rainfall is something you’re expecting.

I have been wearing the drizzle futurelight for two weeks. It is a major upgrade from the north face venture. The breathability is great and no need for armpit vents. I really like the pocket design to keep out moisture and inside breast pocket is greatly appreciated. The material seems very durable and still allows for good movement. Very happy with jacket at the sale price point. 6’1” with athletic build and large fits well alone but with enough room to layer underneath if needed.

Very comfortable and breathable
14 June 2023

I was after a really breathable yet water resistant rain jacket as I work in weddings and my previous Kathmandu one made me sweat after 5mins of wearing it. But after buying the dryzzle by North face it keeps me at a very comfortable temperature even while running around in direct sunlight. Despite lacking armpit gussets which are commonly found on breathable jackets, the material of this jacket helps dissipate heat really well I'm seriously impressed. I'll have to give it a full test in summer though during the wet season but during autumn and winter so far it's held up really well. Be sure to wash it using a gentle/ handwash cycle in your washing machine to preserve the material quality and rain resistant properties.
