A great coat ruined by horrible sizing

I read reviews online that said this coat ran large so I purposely sized down to a small to accommodate AND I purposely wore a heavier sweatshirt when I tried it on and it was STILL baggy. No aspect of the coat seemed to fit well except the hood. Even the sleeves are unusually wide. My hands looked like little doll hands sticking out of them. These items are too expensive to not be near perfect.

Hands down the best value in winter parkas

The velcro might seem lower end than other jacket's hardware but it's easy to seal and does a better job at keeping the elements out. Everything seems very durable and well made. PLENTY of pockets. Lastly I wish there was a way to cinch the bottom so cold air wouldn't creep up but that's not a big concern either. Do make sure to size down because it sizes very big. I normally wear medium and am glad I ordered a small. Even the small fits me a bit loosely, which is fine for layering.

The zippers are sturdy and don't snag, and the stitching is tight and secure. Too baggy. Returned

I have a lot of puffers for hiking but wanted something super warm yet waterproof and windproof for commuting in wintery conditions. This parka checked all the boxes. However I was not expecting this coat to be so baggy. Both the sleeves and body of the coat feel oversized. I knew from reading reviews that it ran large so I purposely sized down to a small but it's still too big. even the sleeves and sleeve cuffs are goofy wide, making my hands look like little doll hands by sticking out. What was TNF thinking here? You pretty much have to use the Velcro cuff tabs to tighten them. Otherwise cold air will go right up your sleeve. Upscale version of the USAF N-3B winter parka

When I was stationed in upstate New York doing my base in-processing at the supply section a sergeant directed me to a rack of parkas with fur trimmed hoods (N-3B) and told me to select one in my size. Just coming in from North Carolina I questioned the need for such an 'arctic' wear item and he assured me in a couple of months I would be glad I had it.He was right of course and this 600 fill down North Face parka is a much nicer version of that old N-3B issue jacket I had in the Air Force. Very Warm, Best Value, Bit Loose

I bought this from TNF Renewed. Had been looking for a deal but with what a great value they are, that never happens. I found the McMurdo by googling for "warmest jacket for sitting still." This and the one named after the northern birds that bring down planes were the highest recommended. However those are over $1,000 and aren't nearly as durable as TNF. The MSRP on this McMurdo is the highest of all my non-merino clothing. I'm glad I bit the bullet, because I'm cold-natured and had been suffering, particularly the last 2 winters after losing 100 lbs.Loves:1. Warmth. Breathable. Despite being very warm when it's cold, I wore it inside at 68 and was comfortable with just the zip open. That said, I am very cold-natured and have my heat set to 74 in winter.3. Detachable hood fur. Could see it being useful when I'm visiting Canada, but in NC it just gets in my eyes.4. Large lined chest pockets for wet gloves.5. Value. As said above, MSRP is less than 1/3 of what I would've paid for the competitor.Dislikes:1. Exterior pockets (besides the chest ones) aren't lined with soft material, so when I'm not wearing gloves they aren't comfortable. However, none of the pockets are in a good position to rest your hands anyway (none are angled upwards or at the right position/level to rest your hands with your arms at a right angle) so I don't do this much.2. Fit isn't my favorite. It looks a little frumpy, but that is somewhat to be expected given the amount of insulation and at this price point. To be lighter, they'd probably need to use less higher-fill-power down, which would be more expensive. I'm usually a S or XS in most things (I have a runner's physique: 37" chest, 30" waist, 36" hips) and prefer a tight fit. I got a S and have a ton of space under if I'd want to layer. I'd prefer to have an option for an XS.3. Wish the Velcro sleeves were buttons. Dog hair attaches to the Velcro.Honestly apart from fit I'm really nit-picking. I'd definitely buy this again and have already recommended it to a friend who has a similar physique and cold nature.

Bigger deeper pockets. More pockets. Including one on the left sleeve.Urban Navy is a great colour. Also loving the fact this a recycled version. So making use of materials used previously. Lower footprint.Hood is a better design than the old one and great the fur folds over. Also feels that this design is more protective with no gaps when you turn your head. Also the fur trim feels more secure and windproof.Only a couple of constructive points for TNF to consider.1) add a hinch cord to the top of the hood. Allow it to be fully adjustable.2) add a tab to the main front zip. All the pocket zips have one. Makes it easier to zip with gloves on.

This jacket doesn't work for all situations but it does it job of keeping me warm when standing still and pulling focus. This jacket fits very relaxed and allows for my walkies and equipment belt to fit comfortably under it. This jacket is perfect for the coldest of days and nights while on location.Fit is relaxed but not too big all the way around.

Warmth, Comfort & Style

My wife purchased the Women's Arctic Parka in January, 2023, I purchased the McMurdo Expedition Parka in February. With 700 fill, this is by far the warmest piece of clothing I've ever worn. I originally bought an XL which swallowed me up. In a surprisingly easy and friendly return process I was able to get a large parka in a short period of time. In December I bought a regular McMurdo, and it's my go to winter wear for average Michigan winters, yet the expedition takes warmth, comfort and style to another level. We got through the 2023 Michigan Ice Storm, 3 days without power with no concern for our warmth & comfort. Amazing, durable, tactical and comfortable. A wonderful piece of winter kit for protecting my old bones. Thanks Guys.
