Good jacket but...

Bought as a replacement on a TNF warranty claim. What happened to the exterior chest pocket? My old jacket had one! When wearing a watch, difficult to take jacket off because sleeve of Thermoball liner gets stuck. Only a sliver of velcro on the sleeve straps.Seems like cheaper quality.

Good quality jacket. Be aware of awful chemical aroma though

Well-made jacket as are all Northface clothes. But I am giving this jacket only 4 stars due to the horrible chemical aroma that I am guessing is due to the waterproof coating. It seems to emanate from the jacket itself and not the quilted removable vest. The smell was very strong when removed from the package and it has remained strong through 2 wearings. It permeated the closet and the other clothes in my closet began to absorb the odor as well. So I moved the jacket to another closet by itself and placed a dish of baking soda on the shelf. This seems to be helping to lessen the smell a bit. Keeping my fingers crossed that the odor will continue to abate. Good jacket. Bad smell.

Great, lightweight jacket for multiple uses

Looked long and hard for a comfortable, lightweight jacket that I could wear in cool, cold, windy, and/or rainy weather. The Thermoball Triclimate jacket meets my goals! When the jacket arrived in a smallish plastic bag, I thought maybe my wife had bought a shirt or something. To my surprise, this wonderful and amazing jacket was inside! The outer shell is comfortable, breathable, and with a nice feel (Gortex is too "crunchy" for me). I wear it by itself most of the time. The Thermoball inner jacket is very lightweight and super comfortable - adds just the right touch of warmth for a cool day and combined with the shell keeps me warm on cold ones.I'm a big guy (6 ft, 235 lbs) but the XL fit snug but comfortable, even with both the inner and outer jackets on.I plan ... MoreLooked long and hard for a comfortable, lightweight jacket that I could wear in cool, cold, windy, and/or rainy weather. I would but it again
28 March 2024

I have enjoyed the new jacket [2 in 1] options is a plus. Comfortable and good fit. Easy to don/doff and separate the jackets. One complaint: The inner jacket zips in/out easily and sleeves. But it would have been so much better if there was a "button/attachment" for the inner jacket to talk up at the collar to the rest of the jacket. Trying to hang it and they hang separately at the top is very odd.

I would buy this product again...and I did!

I gave this jacket to my adult son as a replacement for one he had and had enjoyed for many years. He is quite pleased to have it and has worn it every day since Christmas. It is warm and comfortable. Great quality and great color. It fits well, however, if it were an inch or two wider in the chest area, it would be perfect.

North Face has hit rock bottom
24 February 2021

When I was growing up and an avid camper, hiker, climber, North Face was a brand we all wanted to own. We knew we could count on it to keep us warm and dry, no matter the conditions. Sadly, this isn't the case any longer. The Men's ThermoBall Eco Triclimat was an investment for me as I live in New England and we have wet cold winters. Unfortunately this investment was a failure from the start. When I first put on the jacket, the pocket zipper came right off because the stitching of the pocket hadn't been completed, there was literally no stitching for several inches at the bottom of the pocket. How could that pass Quality inspection, I have no idea. The color and size were on back order, so returning wasn't an option. How could that pass Quality inspection, I have no idea. The color and size were on back order, so returning wasn't an option. I was given a discount and had a local seamstress repair the jacket. Then one of the loops that holds the sleeves together broke, it can't be repaired. The jacket is not waterproof, especially the sleeves- even in a light rain the sleeves start to soak through. Also, the hood will never stay on your head in wind, there are no clips to hold the drawstrings. This is a jacket to look stylish in the city, not for wearing in bad weather, and certainly not for any type of outdoor activity. Overall, it's the quality I would expect form a $100 jacket, not a $300+ piece of clothing.

Only if i was able to see the complete inner jacket first
28 February 2024

Was a not happy that the ThermoBall inner jacket sleeves have zero stitching. So does not have the puffer look. But that also makes the jacket loud in the wind. Also a bummer. The outer shell is what i thought so that is great. I have an older snowboarding version of the same thing with a true thermoball puffer inner jacket. Really thought was getting the same this time..

Superb Jacket

I actually now own two of these - one in the TNF black, and one in the summit blue - it's the best bang for your buck. You get two incredible jackets for the price of one, and together they're a power team. Truly impressed with this combo. It's my go-to jacket for casual wear (I usually separate them and wear one or the other in less colder weather) and my go-to jacket for colder weather, wearing them together. The thermoball really does keep you warm and the outside keeps you dry / protects you against the wind. The only con, and it's not much of a con with this type of jacket, is the overall breathability when they're combined, but that shouldn't be an issue for most since when you're wearing them together you're protecting yourself from colder weather. Purchased the Thermoball eco triclumate and am very happy. The shell, perfect for a rain coat worn separately...The liner (inner jacket) thermoball eco....warm enough. Wasn't looking for a super heavy inner jacket. Can wear on its on. Only downside is look of the sleeves. It doesn't have the stitching like the body does or other eco thermonuclear stand alone jackets. It's just a look.Combined nice for colder weather like skiing.

The North Face is Dead

This can be considered a joint review for the Clement Triclimate jacket, the Mountain light Triclimate Gore Tex jacket, the Thermoball Eco Triclimate jacket and the Side Cut Gore Tex jacket, as over the past month I've owned and returned all of them, as I don't believe any of them are remotely worth the prices tnf is charging for them.In virtually every aspect the quality of The North Face has dropped dramatically compared to just eight years ago.The shells on all the jackets were unbelievably thin, not retaining warmth and barely resisting moisture. Many short cuts and compromises are obvious in the construction resulting in a product that feels cheap and flimsy, a far cry from what the company was producing a decade ago.The zippers struggle to catch and it's awkward to work them up the front of the jackets. The overall sizing of each jacket was awkward and inconsistent, all of them trending too small, another hallmark of cheap, uninvolved garment manufacturing. The drawstrings all loosen with the slightest bit of movement, thus exposing the wearer to cold wind. Another thing older tnf products never did. Both the gore Tex and DryVent shells, regardless of the material composition and density are unbelievably thin across all the jackets I tried. And to top it all off, despite producing products that are only 30 to 40 percent the quality of past years, the prices for tnf products are higher than ever.As it stands, I'll never purchase another North Face product, and cannot recommend them to anyone.
