A good ski jacket depending on your preference

Pretty good ski jacket. Has a lot of great features one would want like pockets, goggle wipe, etc.The zip in thermoball liner is just OK though. It seems sufficiently warm and convenient to dress down this jacket into 2 separate pieces as needed. The thermoball liner is warm enough for the fall or spring but combined with the outer shell seems warm enough for freezing temperatures (with a sweater underneath). Wished it could be a tad warmer for the price. The outer shell is good for a substitute rain coat and is sufficiently water resistant. If you decide to go down instead, you could get something warmer and lighter in weight but down looses its warmth when wet so thermoball is a win there.

Excellent Jacket for Globe Trekking

This is an excellent versatile jacket. This versatility is why I bought it to travel the world for 10 months. Whether I'm hiking the Dolomites of Italy in the Spring, or hiking up Mt. Fuji of Japan in the Fall, this jacket has me covered. I love all the pockets and built in glasses cleaner. The interior drop pocket can even carry my 11" iPad Pro or Nintendo Switch with no problems. If I lost this jacket, I would buy it again.

Huge design changes

Love the jacket but not the design changes. I bought this jacket about 4 years ago. The original one I have is still in great condition, i just wanted a different color. The old design had two breast pockets on the outside, this model has 1. The older model's inner jacket had fur lined pockets with zippers, this model's inner jacket doesn't have these features. The pull strings on the hood of old model had a lock to keep the tension, unless I'm missing something, the new model just has pull strings with no locks so you're constantly pulling them to retighten. The older model had a flap over the zipper of the outer jacket to prevent rain/ snow and wind from getting through, this one doesn't have that. Even down to the logo, the older model has the logo stitched on ... MoreLove the jacket but not the design changes. I bought this jacket about 4 years ago. I can only imagine that cost was the reason for all these features changes, yet we still pay the same price. Huge huge disappointment.

I would buy another Tri-Climate! BEST JACKET EVER
4 September 2024

I really love the feel, and the warmth the jacket provides. The color and quality match the photo, and I am very very happy with the product. This is not my first Tri-Climate jacket from The North Face, and it will not be my last! Thanks for Peter Glenn for getting me the item expeditiously fast! I will be returning to Peter Glenn for items in the future! #sweepstakes '#sweepstakes"

Kept me very warm and dry, but there are a few design issues
17 March 2023

I bought this jacket for a ski trip in Utah. The jacket itself perform very well, including the liner. However, I wish there was an interior chest pocket in the liner. If you have the liner zipped in the powder skirt is between the liner and the jacket itself so it is very awkward to try to snap a Powder skirt. Also, when wearing a helmet, the helmet scuffed the inner hood material pretty badly. I wish they would've used a stronger material for the hood lining. Otherwise it kept me very warm and very dry.

Looks awesome, extremely warm!
25 February 2024

Bought this for my husband for his birthday before our trip to Whistler, BC. It is INCREDIBLY WARM! Love the look and the fit. Both the shell and the midlayer are easy to wear separately. For warmer skiing days (35°F or so) I'd recommend using just the shell and getting a thin midlayer vest. The midlayer insulated coat and the shell together is too much.

Only received half a coat!
6 November 2024

Ordered the coat from Al's website. Finally received at the store a couple weeks later only to find out the jacket did not have its inner component. The representative gave me three options. Refund my money, pay the difference for one of the other coats on the website that were the exact same only different colors or to keep the half coat that I received. He said that this was the second time having to deal with this issue with this exact same coat. The warehouse made the mistake and I had to wait over two weeks to find out I wasn't going to be able to get the coat I ordered.Huge disappointment. Not a good experience.

TNF warranty can't be beat! Nice durable coat, many features
2 November 2023

This jacket is a lot like my old Triclimate from 2005, but has a permanent hood (which I am used to having removed). The hood does have cinch straps to make it tight on the helmet (I believe that's the purpose). That should make the hood MUCH better, as the old style always blocks my side views (turn head, see hood). Lighter material, but likely just as durable which is good for me because I am very hard on gear. Good look, good fit. A clear pass pocket window would be a nice addition. Overall I'm looking forward to shredding everything but this coat!

Updated jacket
3 October 2024

I bought my first Triclimate Jacket in Spring of 2005. It lasted me until winter of 2023. I used the jacket heavily between Snowsports and everyday wear from the Michigan to Oregon. The shell finally started to fail in the waterproofing and zipper. The North Face warranty department was unable to fix the jacket and replaced it with the above jacket. I have not been able to use this jacket due to receiving it in August but can't wait to use it this winter.

maybe not
6 January 2024

My son wore this for two winters, skiing and to high school. Reasonable wear for a $300+ jacket. At the start of the third winter, 2023, the main zipper stopped zipping. The zipper wouldn't hold, so wasn't reliable to wear skiing or to school. I'm thinkin' the zipper should have lasted a lot longer than two winters. It's not like he was on expeditions, and he didn't abuse the zipper. Beware...
