From The North Face description of this jacket:- 'Waterproof fabric provides an impenetrable moisture barrier for guaranteed dryness.' I'm sorry Very, I have to show just how wet my T-shirt was after a 20 minutes walk last night. The first time use in rain and my 2nd time of wearing the jacket. Yes, I was soaked through and yes I could feel the wind blowing through the cold wet jacket... This was meant to have been my 'new everyday jacket'. Total Fail...

Fits huge so you will defo have to size down one or possibly 2 sizes if you're in between a size. It's surprisingly warm for how little insulation is inside and I pretty much like everything about it besides the hood. The hood is AWFUL. There's a load of extra fabric that I assume is supposed to be a peak of sorts but there's nothing to keep it in place so It just hangs down right in the middle of your face with no shape to it at all. Looks ridiculous. When it rains it just flops down right over your face and obscures your view as well. I'm returning it for this reason :(NF - Why would you ruin a perfectly good jacket with such terrible hood design?

Bought this as needed a thinner jacket for autumn. Got an xxl at first but was too big so sent back and got xl. Fits great the xl, I like the hood as has bit that makes it more stable when you have it up when it ls raining and it's waterproof. Has 2 big pockets but no inside pocket. Good for going about in when the weather isn't that cold. Wouldn't be suitable for winter but have a winter jacket already

Owned this jacket nearly a year. Worn it hiking in Sweden & Norway, the Lake District and the Brecon Beacons and it's been great on all of these trips. The Hyvent fabric is very waterproof and is breathable to some extent. Packs down very small. The green looks a bit garish in the website pictures but looks nice in real life, particularly when worn with black. The fit is very good. I have quite broad shoulders and a smaller waist and often find that garments big enough for my shoulders are too big in the body, but this jacket is nicely tapered.I would have preferred adjustable cuffs (which you get on the higher end jackets) rather than elasticated ones here. I always wear a long sleeved t-shirt or baselayer if I'm anticipating hiking in this jacket without a midlayer because otherwise the sleeves stick to my arms a bit. For the price though it's a great jacket despite these gripes.
The jacket itself is very nice but within my first week of owning it I got a mark on the front. I used clean and non abrasive sponge to wipe this off and now the area where I wiped has lost its hydrophobicity and it becomes quickly saturated when out in the rain. It's disappointing that it's not more hardwearing. I wouldn't buy it again.
Been using this for the last few weeks mostly in light drizzle and have no problem. Best experience was last week. Was queuing in heavy rain for about 30 min and then a 15 min walk to work. Got to work and was bone try (apart from my legs). Also this not a foldable jacket however I roll it up into the hood and store it in my back back as this is now an essential for every day.
I have a few The North Face jackets for different uses, but I was in need of an all rounder for wet, dry, chilly and cold. This jacket ticks all those boxes. It's warm and keeps me dry in wet conditions. Drawstrings are a nice addition for waist pull in and hood too. For the price, I would have like to see the branding embroidered instead of vinyl branding. Also, I think black fabric on the zip would have added a bit more class to the product. Overall, I'm really happy and impressed, just a couple of minor aesthetic gripes which I'm sure I'll get over.
This isn't my first North Face Jacket! The one before this one was an expensive dawn jacket and it was horrible as it ripped very fast, sheds a lot of feather and the brand fell over. Unlike my first one, this one is perrect, I usually get very hot un big jackets this one keeps my body temperature perfect; not hot not cold. Furthermore, I can't stress more on the waterproof aspect of it, waterproof and breathable. I would definitely buy this again and recommend it to a friend. It would've been even better if it had a pocket in the inside.
The jacket is comfortable and very warm considering that it is thin. Unfortunately, after only 3 months of wearing it, the material on the back part started to wear out due to wearing a LIGHT backpack. The logo on the back has started to peel off. I really did not expect the quality to be this BAD. Definitely the price does not justify the quality...
Had this jacket since November, and even though the insulation isn't that thick, it's kept me perfectly warm throughout some pretty cold winter spells. And yeah, quite a few people have commented on how good it looks. But, like some other reviewers have found, it's really not that waterproof. Right from first use in rain, water would soak into the coat, rather than run off. And would reach through to the inside withing about 10 mins. And for whatever design reason, within just a few minutes in anything other than light rain, the pockets are wet inside. Not great for electronics. It's warmth and style save it. But it could be so much better.Oh... The hood's fine! Or maybe I've a massive head.
