Oh wow I love this rucksack. I like north face in general clothing & accessories. I recently got a smaller north face bag but needed something bigger this bag has the lot- 2 separate main compartments and loads of side pockets bottle holders and it holds loads. I can get my laptop & a good amount of books ir clothing depending. I also like that the back is padded & the strap for clipping over the chest is easily adjusted. Happy with the purchase especially on sale.

As a preface I commute to work via bicycle 5 days a week, 2.5 miles each way. I upgraded to this bag from a $25 day bag i had bought off amazon, and have been using it for about 2 weeks now, maybe points in my review will change as i break in the bag more. i have considered going back to using my old bag so ill start with negatives. The zippers do not open smoothly when trying to pull the pocket open with one hand, so you have to unzip each zipper deliberately. the arm straps are a concern: when pulling on the backpack the straps get stuck on my wrists, i pulled a little harder to get the straps to slide on and heard a popping like the stitching was ripping, when riding the straps bunch at the neck so to prevent chaffing i have to pull my shirt up to cover the area. ... I bought this pack for traveling with a family. I have large and small hiking packs and a couple of small daypacks but I wanted something in between. This fit the bill. It obviously is not meant for hiking so I would not consider it if that's what you need. But it is easy to adjust for comfort, has enough structure to stand itself up, the back is well padded and ventilated and the straps are wide so it won't cut into your shoulders when it is loaded with weight. That is an issue with some other daypacks. The front pocket is a decent size but there is no small 3rd stash pocket which would be one of my only complaints. The other thing to know is that the zippers are very fast and smooth. Which is usually a good thing except they can open a lot further than intended. ... The fabric seems durable and kept the interior dry in light but steady rain. It does have an integrated laptop / tablet pocket and for students this could probably last your entire college career. I already had this model of a backpack from previous years like 2017 and it was the best backpack I've ever had. It served very well, but it was a little burned out and shabby. I decided to purchase a new model.Firstly, the quality of the material has become noticeably worse, also applies to fittings - cheap plastic, worse locks, no whistle on the front lock. There's no compartment for laptop also. At first I thought it was a fake, but compared the photos with the official ones and it looks like this model was simply cheaper to manufacture.I really hope that TNF will reconsider its attitude and return to the old quality criteria
This was bought for a middle schooler who dirt bikes and according to him it is the most comfortable and useful backpack he has owned. He rides in the rain, mud and does store runs using his backpack and through it all it has stayed dry and pristine. He loves all the useful compartments inside and the size and fit. He is small but this backpack works BETTER than a kids sized one he previously had due to the adjustable chest strap and ergonomic padding on the back.
I bought this backpack for a high school student after the last cheap backpack I purchased months ago completely fell apart. This is a great choice for a school backpack because of the following:Style - minimalist, modern and unisex.Function - Back support, padded back, handles and straps, deep mesh side pockets, multiple functional components, designated laptop pocket, two handles on top, double zippers, large size but not too bulky.Quality - looks very well made and designed with simplicity, functionality and longevity in mind. This applies to materials, style, function, size...everything really.Overall I am super happy with this purchase. Now if it makes it okay through the next school year, I will be extatic.
I have had this bag for a few months now and have decided to replace it as it has some terrible design faults. Firstly it does not stand up on it's own, will just slip over despite what it looks like in the pictures. Secondly, it will not stay on one shoulder which is primarily how I carry it when about(commuting). With any sort of weight in it, it will just slip off and constantly needs to be pulled up, I do not like wearing it with both straps in place as to much hassle to take on and off.
I had 2 Jesters, 1 Vault previously and these have been the best backpacks I owned. This new updated model is not fit for purpose. Design and quality is shocking. TNF has gone so downhill. Technically this bag is appalling for many reasons, from thin nasty shoulder straps, to a front pocket which is genuinely useless. I returned today for a refund after comparing this new model with previous. I'm going to research a new brand after 20 years of loyalty.
Not what I expected from North Face. The material is thin. There's a laptop sleeve that will hold a 14" laptop, but it doesn't go to the bottom of the backtop, so there's a space under the laptop where smaller loose things, like a spiral notebook, can slip and bend. The second large pocket looks big in the pictures, but it is verys small in real life. Asked about returning, but was told I'd have a pay return shipping at a fixed rate that was 1/3 the price of the backpack. This is designed to discourage returns, even though Sunny claims to have a generous return policy.
