These pants are very light and use a comfortable waterproof material. The best feature is the half zip which means I do not have to remove my boots to put them on. My previous pair of another brand were also good but of heavier material, less comfortable and the zip was not high enough to clear the boot.

Pros - Got these for my husband years ago! Great pants for rain and bonus for slipping on over any shoes quickly! At 6'2" the regular inseam actually worked out! Cons - same issue I find for all NF pants with a short inseam! Both women's pants and men's pants that offer short inseam options? They are NEVER in stock! My dad has wanted a pair since seeing my husband's pair! But, at 5'7" tall - there's no way a 32" inseam won't drag the ground on his frame! He needs the short 30" inseam! So, great buy for men have a 32" inseam! Just wish that when NF actually gives a choice in various inseam lengths - they would have enough to handle the demand! I look at these often hoping to find the S inseam, but only find the R available!

Great waterproofing, I would want these to have some abrasion protective material on bottom cuffs and add one more front thigh pocket. A tear on one bottom cuff occurred after only 3 days of light hiking in cold rainy conditions. I returned it for warranty repair and they said that wear and tear is not covered. If it had torn it after heavy use or several seasons, I might agree. I was testing out what I heard was a great warranty by Northface. The service department did offer to sell me one at half price but they didn't have my size in stock ( large short) so they were courteous and sent me a full value $80 gift card. So in the end they did have great service, but they said that it was a one time exception.

I like the thin and waterproof fabric so my legs won't be sweating in the rain, but the pants are too long as other reviewers have mentioned. My pants fit is 34" waist / 30" inseam, I got a size M, the waist fits well but they are several inches too long. (I can't imagine how long the "LNG" version is.) The crotch also rides a bit high so the pants can't be pulled up above the waist. This combination of features makes it difficult to keep the pants from sagging when walking. I will need to use suspenders with these pants to make them work.
These are the second pair of these pants I have bought. the first ones were purchased in 2015 and were getting a bit old so I bought these ones. The material is a bit more flexible than the previous version and they are bit shorter (perfect for me as I am 5'6'' and the Small is perfect). I use them almost everyday while walking my dog. They are wind resistant so I just need to wear a pair of jogging pants under even in the winter and I don't get cold. Overall a great pair of pants if you are looking to something that is wind / water resistant.
After doing some research, I found that these rain pants were consistently rating in the top ten for quality, price, fit, and of course - keeping you dry!I am 5'9" tall, 30" inseam and 205 lbs, so I ordered the XL short, based on the size chart provided on your website.I am very pleased to report that the size was right on the mark! These pants are roomy enough to slip on over jeans or sweatpants for cool weather, but light weight and packable for summer hiking over shorts.I really appreciate the half zip leg and the Velcro cuffs to tighten around your ankles, but the best part is the pockets! Its great to just unzip the rain pant pocket to pull out your trusty pocket knife or a compass in the rain!
I love these hiking/camping trousers. They are so versatile for turning them into shorts when the sun comes out and great for when it rains you can zip them back on (and they are colour coded). Very breathable and they come with a built-in belt! They are hardy and won't fail you... until you put on a few extra pounds! Like my title says, they are not stretchy which I find quite important now I have a pair of North Face stretchy ones. The stretchy ones are super comfortable, kinda like leggings for men, and great for unexpected climbs during hikes.
I live in the PNW and I didn't want to be sidelined by the rain this fall. I wanted a pair of rain pants that have zip up legs, zip up pockets and a fly. These fit the bill. I can get them on over a regular set of pants. I've taken them out a couple of times in some pretty good rain and winds and I've stayed dry and warm. You can unzip the pockets to allow for additional ventilation. Nice long Velcro strip on the bottom of the legs allows you to get a nice fit around your ankle. Pretty lightweight too. I can't speak for how well they will hold up over time but The North Face makes good quality stuff. I'm confident they will last for plenty of adventures.
With a description that mentioned "quick vapor transfer" and "breathable", I was expecting something closer to a true breathable waterproof membrane like Gore Tex or one of the many comparable technologies. This is nowhere near that. These pants are more like the noisy nylon tarp-like material you see inexpensive waterproof clothes made of. It's not overly functional. I'm not going to send them back because for the $47 that I paid (after sales, discount and promo credit) they'll be fine for occasional use close to home to save wear and tear on better pants. However, I wouldn't take these on a hike or physical activity where flexibility (there is none) and breathability (I'm doubtful) are important. One further note. I followed advice in these comments and ordered a ... MoreWith a description that mentioned "quick vapor transfer" and "breathable", I was expecting something closer to a true breathable waterproof membrane like Gore Tex or one of the many comparable technologies. Firstly, the crotch sits VERY low making them very hard to maneuver in. The material is poor, so poor that if I brushed my leg on an exposed branch on a trail that the pants would most likely tear! A real-time example is when I went to tighten and secure the pants around my waist that the drawstrings ripped through the material of the pants! With that said, based on the warranty these cannot be returned for a refund. The pants can only be repaired! Why would I want to repair something that I feel is not made well enough to be used! I would much rather get my money back! Do not waste your money on these pants!
