The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% is a powerful exfoliating solution that promises to brighten and smoothen the skin's texture. However, after trying it, I found that it was too strong for my skin. Fortunately, I found that this product works wonders on other parts of my body with pigmentation, such as my elbows and knees. When used in those areas, I saw a noticeable improvement in the texture and color of my skin after a few uses. Overall, if you have sensitive skin, it's essential to patch-test first and be cautious when using it on your face. However, for those with pigmentation concerns on other parts of their body, this product could be a game-changer.

I'm about to repurchase this for the 4th time, so I thought now would be a great time to tell you why! This stuff is amazing, definitely has helped with my skin texture without causing sensitivity. That being said, I did start with the 5% and moved up to 10% when I felt like my skin was ready! It has also helped with my hyper-pigmentation from acne. Those are the results you will see from lactic acid from any company, but for this price point and considering this has no fragrance or filler nonsense in it, this is my favorite lactic acid treatment. I got this after using because that's a great product, but the price point kills me. Texturally they are very different products, and Good Genes lactic acid percentage is closer to 5% than the 10% in this one. If you are trying to decide between them, they are both great, but this is fragrance free and a fraction of the price even if you add another serum from the Ordinary on top of it.it

This is and empty bottle of 5% Lactic acid. I could not find this here on influenster. So I will leave my review under the 10% one. Hope this be useful for someone. Compared to the hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and buffet serums from The Ordinary, this Lactic Acid serum has a watery and less sticky texture, thus more comfortable to apply. I applied this serum every evening as my nighttime routine after cleaning and toner and before moisturizer. When I used one bottle for around 3 months, I did actually notice some brightness in my skin and acne scars, but it was not that huge effect. Other than that I could not feel any effect from this serum, which was expected because I have already used other products from The Ordinary and know what they do for my skin. I really like this product. It's scent-free, yet provides an effective exfoliation that works for me very well. I can't use glycolic acid serums; they tend to be too intense for me. But, this one provides added exfoliation on days when my retinol serum just won't cut it (I don't use them the same night). I also like to use this (or any remaining glycolic acid serum in my cupboard) on my bikini line after waxing or shaving; it helps prevent ingrown hairs. I would not advise doing that if you have very sensitive skin, though! Great product, amazing price, and fantastic vehicle for using it.

It is not surprising that these pharmaceutical vials quickly gained popularity and universal love. This serum has a gel-watery texture with a slightly sour aroma (it smells like dried fruit to my nose). In the bottle, it has a light orange tint, but in fact it is transparent. For the entire face, neck and dΓ©colletΓ©, I need 5-6 drops. Due to the presence of a pipette, it is very convenient to dose the serum. I apply the serum after cleansing and toning the skin, wait a couple of minutes, then apply the cream all over my face. Serum is applied easily, pleasantly and gently glides over the skin. Absorbs quickly, leaving a slight stickiness behind. But after applying the cream, this feeling of slight discomfort disappears. My skin does not sting after application, but some note that there may be a slight tingling sensation. I started to notice the first changes in my skin after 1.5 weeks of use. The skin became more hydrated and incredibly soft and pleasant to the touch, but most importantly, the traces of rashes on the chin disappeared. I have acne spots for a very long time, but with lactic acid I get rid of them much faster. But do not forget that when using products with acids in your care, you must definitely use a cream with an SPF filter! Minimum SPF30, even in winter, and even when there is no sun. For 1.5 months of regular use, I lost 1/3 of the bottle.

This water based serum absorbs incredibly quickly into the skin… lightning fast. This targets dullness, uneven texture, and aging, but exfoliants like this help with acne scars and overall acne for me. This is a great product for those that are introducing lactic acid into their routine, as they can step it up to their 10% formula for quicker and more intense results… but first your skin needs to get used to this. Personally, I only exfoliate with this 1-3 nights a week, because my skin gets irritated and red when I exfoliate too oftenβ€”especially on my cheeks! The lactic acid concentration helps reduce the appearance of healing acne, and just gives an overall healthier and brightened skin texture. For me, uneven texture comes from small acne bumps, so this is great for my acne-prone t-zone. The Tasmanian pepper berry is added to calm your skin because of the exfoliation, and the Hyaluronic acid is great for hydration. Overall bang-on product that’s incredibly cost effective, and something that will bring you results. You need to be consistent with this to see them, however, especially since this is a lower concentration. Overall, you know your skin best. If you want to try out a chemical exfoliant, this is dirt cheap (8 CAD) if you want to introduce lactic acid into your routine!

This is a great gentle exfoliator! It really helped to brighten my complexion, get rid of dark spots and closed comedones. Depending on what you’re using it for. These things can take time to work but for sloughing off dead skin, you can see the results within the first week. AHA’s are naturally hydrating in themselves, they’re humectants meaning they attract water and In Turn, your skin soaks that moisture in. This has the added benefit of hyaluronic acid, another strong humectant so while this is an exfoliator, it does so without drying your skin out, it actually hydrates it. Don’t get me wrong, this would not take the place of a hydrating serum. But it does exfoliate your skin without drying you out! This works best if you leave it on your skin for 25 minutes before you add any other products to your skin. Also, you want this to be the first product you apply to your skin, unless you use a ph adjusting toner (in this case u want one that will bring the ph of your skin down to 3.2-3.5 for ideal results). The ph level and not disturbing it is extremely Important with chemical exfoliators. So I’d advise reading a little on that. It this works great!!!!

That has never happened to me before, but now I am glad to say I have a routine that is simple, and effective. My pores appear smaller, my smile lines have been erased, and my makeup looks better than ever, since I no longer have a layer of dead skin. I don't usually leave reviews for products, but I would recommend this to ANYONE who is struggling with dry skin that is stubborn to exfoliate.HOW I USE:After washing my face at night, I let my skin air dry. I wash my hands, put a whole dropper full of this product in the palm of my hand (more is more with this I have found) and I spread it around my whole face except my under-eye area.I will leave this on for five minutes, I feel that this helps it be more effective. After that, I moisturize and go to sleep. When I wake up, I rinse and apply my spf lotion. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Every toner/chemical peel will cause sun sensitivity, so you will be going backwards if you skip this step.My skin has ever looked smoother, even textured, and the best part is that this does NOT dry my skin. It has helps me maintain my skins balance better than ever.

The hyperpigmentation is noticeably faded, my skin is less congested, skin tone is evened out, and it's hydrating. And it doesn't break me out!!! I actually can't believe it.I used to get so disappointed seeing my efforts not improving anything, and would start skipping days on my routine because I knew it wouldn't help. The past few days I've actually been excited to look in the mirror and see the progress.

I’ve been using my Ordinary products for a solid month. I started with Lactic Acid 5% plus HA and Niacinamide 10% Zinc 1%. I was treating a new diagnosis of Rosacea with Metronidazole.75% in the first 1.5 weeks. I realized my past problem was that I was still treating my skin as if I was a young person with T zone issues & clogged pores : harshly. My skin was in shambles & getting worse. If I treated the clogged pores with cleanser & witch hazel my skin dried & cracked but the clogged pores were hardly improved. I was worried moisturizer would cause full blown acne for me. Absolutely not. In one month, my improved skin is remarkable. The pores have reduced and no longer act the same. My skin is not cracked & painful and the rosacea is down to 1 tiny pimple today. My nose even looks smaller lol! My skin texture is well in the way to being described as β€œfine” instead of on the way to course. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey and learning more. I cannot recommend The Ordinary more.
