(3.5/5 stars) i received this product free from influenster and theordinary in exchange for my honest review. overall i am a big fan of the ordinary brand; i love their simplistic design packaging and wide array of products at an affordable price point. i find some of their products to be highly effective and they have remained in my routine for years. the Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan light surface hydration is a clear gel moisturizer. i love a gel moisturizer, but this looks very much like you’re putting hair gel on your face 😂 this is meant to be the last step in your skincare routine (or before spf in the daytime) and while i found it pleasant to apply, i think for nighttime skin care i prefer something a little heavier to lock everything in. i ... More(3.5/5 stars) i received this product free from influenster and theordinary in exchange for my honest review. overall i am a big fan of the ordinary brand; i love their simplistic design packaging and wide array of products at an affordable price point. i find some of their products to be highly effective and they have remained in my routine for years. the Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan light surface hydration is a clear gel moisturizer. i love a gel moisturizer, but this looks very much like you’re putting hair gel on your face 😂 this is meant to be the last step in your skincare routine (or before spf in the daytime) and while i found it pleasant to apply, i think for nighttime skin care i prefer something a little heavier to lock everything in. i also noticed VERY slight tingling/irritation when applying this at night after some of my other skincare steps (e.g, retinol) - not enough to wash it all off, but enough for me to notice. this is definitely lightweight and might be good for oilier folks or to use during the summer, so it’ll definitely become some part of my routine over the next few months. i also felt a *slight* tackiness after applying, so i’ve tested it as a priming step before makeup a couple times, but i can’t confidently say that it works just yet — i’m going to keep experimenting with it. this formula is oil, silicone, alcohol and gluten-free and is vegan and cruelty free 👏 overall i think this is a decent product and worth giving a try if you like a lighter moisturizer. it retails for $13.50 for the larger 100ml size which is amazing — you really don’t need to spend $100s on your skincare routine. the most important part is consistency.

Accidental scar treatment?

I think this faded 15+ year old scars…?!? It’s the only new product I’ve used, and the only thing that I apply to my neck and upper chest. I’ve had these 2 small keloid scars forever, and tried a variety of both cheap and expensive topical scar treatments. None worked, although silicon tape seemed to soften them a bit years ago. Anyway, I’d given up on trying stuff and didn’t really feel very self conscious about them anyway.I just tried this moisturizer because it was new and my sensitive, combo skin typically does fine with the Ordinary products. Excellent for oily/clog-prone skin

I really like this moisturiser. I have combo skin, with some parts being oilier and others fairly balanced. My skin is very prone to CCs and becoming clogged. I was looking for a good, basic moisturiser (without all the fancy bells and whistles) to apply over my serums. A lot of moisturisers I’ve tried have caused CCs, so I was interested to try this gel moisturiser. I’m glad I did because this moisturiser is great. Doesn’t clog my skin at all, it’s not oily (there’s no oils in it), it’s lightweight and it hydrates nicely - especially in conjunction with my other skincare items. This is all I was looking for in a moisturiser. It is a little tacky on the skin, but this feeling fades after about 10-15 minutes. I will definitely continue to use a repurchase :)

Fungal acne skin - I use this as a serum

Daytime, this on wet skin. Once dried fully I apply drmtlgy universal tinted spf. Beautiful. At night, I use this like a serum on wet skin, then immediately follow with cerave moisturizing baby cream (not the moisturizer, comes in a 227g tube). Alternating nights I use Oridinary’s azelaic acid, on wet skin, topped with that cerave cream. I have oily, fungal acne prone skin and this routine has kept my skin clear and glowing. My skin cleansers are bioderma sebium cleanser (blue bottle) for daytime. Then for night, same bioderma and cetaphil’s gentle SA cleanser. Hope this helps somebody!

Great summer moisturizer for normal/dry skin

I have dry skin in the winter/fall months and normal (but still leaning towards dry) skin in the spring/summer months. I bought this in the transition between spring and summer when I noticed my skin often felt a bit sore and dry from the sudden change of season. I live in Canada and spent a lot of time outdoors as soon as the sun started shining and temperatures rose. The moisturizer is clear and is similar in texture to a hair gel just without any stickiness. It feels cool and soothing on the skin and soaks in pretty much right away leaving no trace behind. Also basically no scent besides a tiny hint of like generic lotion smell. Overall I don't think I'll be repurchasing just because it didn't quite give me enough juice to make my skin extra happy. It was just kinda meh. That being said, I can see it being incredible for post-sunburn care (and will be taking it with me to Cuba just in case) or if you have oily skin to use as a daily moisturizer.

This stuff is honestly the best moisturiser I’ve ever used, and I have tried many. I have very oily and sensitive skin and eyes. Had been using another sensitive gel moisturiser for a while now due to a history of perioral dermatitis, and have been looking to switch to something cruelty free. To my surprise this is even better than my previous one! My skin is so bright and clear and plump and obviously well moisturised while not getting shiny and oily through the day. I’m super sensitive to nearly everything and prone to contact dermatitis around my eyes as well as perioral dermatitis, and this hasn’t bothered my skin one bit. This is the best moisturizer for those with oily skin! I work in a hospital and this is the only moisturizer that has been able to keep my oil at bay to reduce breakouts without drying out my skin. It probably wouldn't work for those with normal and dry skin. I do have normal patches around my eyes so I use the Derma-E Skin Restore Advanced Peptides at night. Together, these are a dream team for those who want beautifully moisturized but not too oily skin that work in a hospital!For refernce, I have oily, acne-prone skin. I use Derma-E Acne Deep Pore Cleansing face cleanser, The Ordinary's niacinamide serum, and this moisturizer for day time plus the Derma-E moisturizer mentioned above at night time.
