I tried the free sample Keralan coconut curry and was very impressed with the taste and presentation of the dish. I have visited Kerala so can vouch for the authenticity of this dish, which I note was made in India. I added a generous portion of raw jumbo prawns, as per the recipe provided, and added some fresh ginger, chillies, red onion and red pepper to the spice mix, as suggested. With basmati rice there was a generous portion for three adults. I would be happy to purchase this product and will be checking out the shops for this and other kits in the range as they are so tasty and convenient; highly recommended!

Made perfect chicken curry. Just added chicken breast, chopped into pieces and lightly tossed in hot oil in a pan for few mins before adding to the curry sauce mix. I like it cooked slowly if adding meat so 30-40 mins on a lowish large hob ring in large deep wok/frying pan. Fantastic coconut based curry, not as harsh as some of the other non coconut based Currys. Mild along the lines of a Madras but very easy to add heat by adding chillies. You add extra liquid to it in the wok/fry pan, water is suggested but I added extra tinned coconut milk to keep a thicker consistency as well as extra chillies for extra heat just chopped and dropped or add dried chilli flakes. If you like large portions, I recommend 2 packs for 4 people served on lots of boiled rice. In summary, ... MoreMade perfect chicken curry. I have never had a coconut curry before and wasn’t sure it would be to my taste - but it was free! What had I to loose. I bought the prawns ready and apart from preparing a bit of boiled rice, all I had to do was fry the spices and add the sauce and prawns and Hey Presto! I had a delicious meal ready in minutes! So impressed with this curry and it’s simplicity. I placed an order for a selection of the curry range and a biryani and they arrived very quickly. Sampled the butter chicken last night and just as pleased with the result this time. Just so pleased I found Spice Tailor. If I could by the naan online it would be the icing on the cake, but had to buy some chapatis locally instead.

Got the free sample pack, Opened the packet, first impression was "what's this" Followed the cooking instructions to the letter, (word of warning have lid ready for pan when spices start popping, lol) Poured the sauce in with the touch of water, the aroma was so good from the ingredients, started to thicken up, in went the prawns. The dish was served up, great consistency for the sauce, depth of taste was quite amazing, you certainly have the spices right guys n gals, spot on.Will be trying other dishes in your repertoire.
We’ve used your spice kits before to make curries, usually accompanied by rice or your superb garlic & coriander naans, so I thought it would be interesting to try your chicken and potato traybake recipe. Unfortunately that turned out to be a big disappointment.I realised that 1cm thick slices of potato was probably too much and they would cook slowly, so I made them 0.5 cm. After 40 minutes they were still too hard to eat. After an hour, we gave up and just ate the chicken, which was by then a bit overdone, and the sauce, which was excellent. I should have known better and cooked the potatoes before putting them in the oven, which is what I would usually do for roast potatoes etc. It’s a pity that instruction was left out of the recipe.
I have to admit to being very pleasantly surprised by how tasty this was. I usually cook all meals from fresh, but I received this as a free sample. It’s been in my cupboard a couple of months and tonight, with it just being my husband I I, I was looking for something easy to cook. In the pan, it looked rather watery and non descript, even when I added raw king prawns it didn’t look too substantial. I added fresh coriander to brighten it up and accompanied it with garlic Naan. But, on tasting, I was so shocked by how nice it was - the flavours were so full of depth, you only needed a small amount of sauce on the rice to make the flavours pop - it really was a beautiful curry. I’ve just added a couple of pouches to my sainsburys online shop as they’re on offer!
I received my free kit and made it with monkfish. Beautiful curry nice and creamy and the right level of spices . Usually i make curries from scratch. The spice tailor curries are good and quick alternative . Ive used the lentil one before and also have used the biryani kits and the chickpea kit too . Love all of them . Ive followed Anjam since she had a cooking series on tv a few year ago and also have a few of her cook books . Id strongly recommend these kits to anybody .
Received my free sample last week but have only just had time to try this out. I normally make curries from scratch and this isn’t fast food for me. Cupboards full of spices, precooked meats and gravey in the freezer. This prawn curry was on the plate in 15 minutes, not quite the same quality of my BIR curries but an amazing result considering the time it took to make and I will be able to tweak these to better suit my tastes. Will be having curries more regularly now.
I have always been a bit dubious about using products based upon prepared sauces. But I felt this one (Keralan Coconut Curry) was delicious and authentic. I used raw prawns suitably defrosted and the whole served with a basmati rice. And, of course, it was amazingly quick to prepare.I still believe nothing beast making a dish from original ingredients (and to a good recipe), but that takes time, and you might not use all the ingredients that you have to buy.In terms of value, time and taste, it is very, very good!
We received a Kerelan Coconut Curry in the post one morning, being short of an idea what to have for dinner that night we decided to try it using some Jumbo Fing Prawns we had in the freezer. To cut a long story short we found it so easy to assemble the ingredients, the majority sent in the kit and cook the curry. The result was truly fabulous, the blend of spices was mouth tingling, probably the best curry made from a kit we had ever had, we were extremely impressed with the fantastic flavour of this curry. Don`t know what to have for dinner.............get yourself a Spice Tailor Curry, you will definitely not be dissapointed.
