The Prime Plus is a great iteration on the massage gun, and the app and Bluetooth integration is pretty impressive. It comes with an intimidatingly thick manual, but thankfully it’s because it includes a bunch of regulatory declarations and a ton of languages, so there is really only six pages that pertain to operating the massager.Battery came about half full and took less than an hour to fully charge. Both the build quality and design are excellent. The weight is very evenly distributed and the signature triangle Theragun design provides a lot of options to hold the massager. The one weak point in the design is the placement of the power button. The weight is very evenly distributed and the signature triangle Theragun design provides a lot of options to hold the massager. The one weak point in the design is the placement of the power button. It should have been placed far off-axis of the percussive motion. The button is placed almost directly in-line with the motion, which fights your thumb as you try to hold down the button to power down. If you’re not very deliberate and forceful, the button gets repeatedly vibrated into a non-pressed state. It also occasionally rattles, and I worry a bit about the longevity of the button internals being a potential failure point. (Powering on/off is not a problem if you’re not using the app to control the massager; but if you’re using it standalone, you have to use the button.)The biggest weakness in the design is the same as with nearly all rechargeable devices these days: the battery is not removable. Once the battery health is gone, the device is no good. Given the price of this massager, that’s not a small drawback. The Prime Plus has more than enough power for my needs, as I’m pretty cautious when it comes to percussive massagers, so I keep usage to a minimum in both power and duration. The lowest intensity is generally enough for me. Of the four included heads, I prefer the dampened head, but the heated head will definitely be useful at times. It impressively warms to the desired heat setting pretty much immediately after clicking the button.I think the battery is sized far beyond any reasonable expectation. I had used the massager for five minutes daily through a couple of routines at five minutes for about a week, and the battery only drew down to about 40%. I was running it at the lowest intensity, and I was also careful to not use any pressure on the head. Your mileage will vary, depending on the intensity, duration, and whether you use the heated head, but I think the battery is more than big enough. The app (the Android version) is well executed, and I encountered any bugs. The UI is clean and intuitive. Thankfully, there’s a battery gauge in the app which reports the percentage. (The LED on the massager changes color from green to blue to orange then blinking orange for full, half, low, and very low.)The built-in routines are definitely useful for people who aren’t familiar with percussive massagers, but on the face of it it’ll also be useful for people who are familiar with them but want to better address something specific in a comprehensive list of athletics-specific warm-up and recovery use cases. I guess in reality it all depends on how well each of the routines are designed. They target different purposes: warm-up, recovery, pain relief, relaxation, and even things like “travel.” There’s a useful set of filters to narrow down a very lengthy set of routines. I focused on a few for pain, and they seemed to be decently designed.Once you start a routine in the app, it starts the massager and plays through a video guide as the massager is running that illustrates where on your body to point the massager as well as the movement you should be using. Once the routine is done, the app shuts off the massager.I needed the routines for back and neck pain after I pulled my lower back while moving a stacked washer-dryer. I was nearly immobilized once my upper back, neck, and shoulders started compensating for the lower back pain. I ended up with very difficult to manually massage knots in my neck and shoulders, and the Prime Plus definitely helped to shorten the length of time to heal. One slightly gimmicky part of the app is the inclusion of music on some routines, like for the relaxation routines. The Prime Plus isn’t necessarily very loud, but it’s loud enough to make the contrast feel a little silly. With the exception of the power button placement and the non-replaceable battery, I’m quite happy with this massager’s build quality, design, and app integration.

According to Therabody, there’s scientific evidence that heated percussion massage can lead to faster recovery times. In my experience, the heated tip has made the massages much more enjoyable. I believe this benefit will be even more noticeable in colder environments. I’m planning to take this massage gun to Colorado for my snowboarding trip and am really looking forward to using it there! Currently, I use it after rucking sessions, which involve walking with a weighted backpack or vest. I often experience neck soreness from rucking with a backpack, and the heated tip has been particularly effective in relieving tension in those small, sensitive areas. It significantly warms the skin and muscles, which feels great. I’ve also used the gun extensively on my leg muscles. While the heating effect is less noticeable there, the gun’s vibrations are exceptional and penetrate deeply into the muscles. The ergonomics of this massage gun are said to be improved with a more textured finish on the triangular handle. Although I haven’t used other Therabody massage guns to compare, I find the triangular handle design to be fantastic! It allows me to reach awkward angles one-handed. The textured finish also provides a nice grip, making it easy to hold securely. The Theragun Prime Plus has proven to be a valuable tool in my recovery routine over the past week. While it’s challenging to compare it directly to other Theragun models due to the variety available, its features and performance clearly outshine the off-brand massage guns I’ve used before. The heated tip enhances the massage experience, especially in colder environments and for targeting sensitive areas like neck muscles. The ergonomic design, with its triangular handle and textured finish, makes it easy to use and effective for reaching awkward angles. Overall, the Theragun Prime Plus stands out as a superior choice for anyone looking to enhance their recovery process.

Getting older is becoming more and more painful and I’m thankful to be living in 2024 vs like 1954 because of tools like this theragun that help make life a little easier. I’ve owned a few of these massagers in the past and have generally been underwhelmed for whatever reason so I was super excited to get this one that adds heat and cooling to the mix. Came nicely packed from our local carrier and set up is easy. Mine came fully charged ready for action which was a big bonus because I was anxious to try it. All in one is correct with a compact carrying case that holds the massager, four attachments and charging cable. Minimal size makes for easy storage or not an eye sore if you left it out in the open. I tried all attachments and all speeds and heat levels. Anyways I really enjoyed using it and it helped a lot with knitted muscles and aches and pains. The different attachments for different areas of the body are easy to swap out and work well and the case has a guide for which attachment should be used on what. Five speeds and heat settings is awesome however I was speed one was slightly less aggressive. It’s not too heavy but if you are reaching for an area like your lower back it can be a little hard to hold the gun and after a few minutes your hand might be numb from vibration. Overall this is an instant relief to pains but I notice going back to pain the following morning so I wouldn’t expect for this to be a real fix or long term solution to pains. I’m impressed with the build quality and the ease of use along with the multiple attachments included and instant relief to pains. Highly recommend

Amazing massage therapy gun. It comes in a nice compact box and they include a nice carrying case that fits the gun itself, several attachments and charging cable. I was a little doubtful that it would work at first, since I have tried tons of devices for my chronic neck pain and nothing had worked before. I have a couple of pinched discs on the cervical area that make me have knots and stiff nerves/muscles on my neck and shoulders. This gun has really worked wonders. It comes with 4 attachments: a heated percussive one, a dampener, a standard ball and wedge. They also sell optional ones (cold, vibration, micro point and thumb). Each attachment has its own benefits and are meant for different treatments. I doubted the heated one would really heat up, but it really does get hot and helps! The manual and case tell you a few vague descriptions on what each attachment does and is for, however the full power of this gun is unlocked if you pair it with their Therabody app. Once connected you can select what type of therapy you want (ie. to recuperate after exercising, or if you have knots) and also where on your body you want to focus on. The app will tell you which attachment to use and how to use it and for how long, it even times you can connects to the gun. I mainly select it for "knots" and neck pain and it has really helped relieve those tight muscles and annoying knots. I use it through the day while working (bare in mind it can get a little noise, its a vibrating gun none the less). I'm a firm believer now. I plan on getting the cold attachment in the future, if the hot one did really get hot, it gives me hope that the cold one will get really cold. The battery lasts very long, I have used it for days and have not needed to charge it for a while, I usually charge it every 3 or 4 days overnight.I highly recommend this gun, if you suffer from chronic pain like me, or even if you work out a lot and need relief after a hard workout, this massage gun will not disappoint you!!!
To put it all in perspective, I have owned for more than three years a previous model of massage gun that as a runner, I use weekly as part of my recovery routine. From that perspective, I can spend hours talking about the positive impact of those devices on my body and training routine. However, you could need to see why this model, in particular, could be the one, or why you could consider an update from a previous model, like what happened to me.The Theragun Prime Plus is right now is exactly the update that I was looking for. In fact, after using it for more than two weeks, I confirmed that is a great update and one of the best choices I made. There are at least six elements that make this option better than most:1. - The heat option. This model includes not only the traditional attachments that percuss in your muscles but one of the attachments (included in the kit) is heated. Because of that, you can regulate not only the intensity of the massage but also the temperature of the massage. A game changer!, notably for routines before the training when you need warmer muscles in recovery. Note that the gun has five levels of speed and three levels of heat, so you can be sure that the massage is adapted to your needs.2.- Design, this is more than aesthetics, this triangle design is a very smart way of delivering massage to all areas of your body. In fact, the triangle form allows you to access for self-massage areas that before remained inaccessible or forced my hand position to a very unnatural. With an inverted L form from my previous model, there were areas on the back that were only accessible with the help of someone else.3.- In addition to the design, one big aspect is the size and weight, which helps in your massage routine. The 1.38 lbs makes it a lot easier to keep you massaging an area of difficult access without overcharging one of your arms.4.- The combo is great. The gun comes with three heads (attachments) to use depending on the size, area, or type of problem you plan to address: tenderness, tensioned muscles, pain… All is organized, with the power cable, in a nice handbag perfect for your gym bag.The replacement of the attachments is super simple and only requite twisting a bit one before you bring the new one.5.- A huge battery power. After more than 20 hours of usage, I still haven’t needed to do a recharge.6.- A very simple operation that is very intuitive for all types of users. Yes, there is the great Theragun app available but with the manual option with the two buttons, you can also do the job for regular and non-sophisticated users like my wife.A final big consideration for the Therabody app. I need to recognize that, being so new, the model that I have was not available at first and it took one week to update it but the IT guys did an amazing job. The app and the gun connect automatically by Bluetooth. Only need to create your profile, as detailed as interested you are in sharing your data, and start to enjoy the different routines proposed.Easy to download from the Play Store, just by scanning the code in the box.The app is a second game-changer. Probably your pain guides your hand in the area where you need the massage but with the Therabody app you can evolve to a more professional type of service. In fact, the routines are not proposed using the names of your muscles or with fancy muscular injuries’ names but simply with the need for the problem you plan to solve or the sports activity you plan to prepare yourself for. So simple like: “app I have back pain” serves to identify the attachment you need to use and the app will define time, heat, and intensity. This is the closest to having your smart therapist with you and while massaging you can still adjust the parameters to your own massage. Also, a very good idea, if you are open to playing with the app, are the “saved routines” and the “personalized routines”. In the first one, you can save those that you enjoyed the most. With the second option, the Therabody app syncs with your other apps (now Strava and Google Fit) to, based on the recorded activity made by you define your training needs.I use a different app for my routines. This was a limit at first until I connected my app with Google Fit and after it, I enjoyed the benefits of the Therabody app.Three minor elements that could be nice to have, in case the manufacturer reads this. More than the traditional “one-year” guarantee. The power charger, just the power cord is included. Finally, the cold attachment which is currently sold separately, could be an additional feature that I would love to be added even if I have a small price increase.Absolutely love it.
I have been a fan of percussion massagers for years and have relied on them ever since I was first introduced to them by my physical therapist. I have been using the same cheap one I purchased and as soon as I saw that Therabody was introducing the new Theragun Prime with heat therapy and an option for cold therapy I was ready to step my game up with their latest technology. Full disclosure, I have also been a customer and fan of Therabody’s other devices which incorporate some of this technology so I couldn’t wait to see and feel the difference compared to what had been using since they have been setting the bar in this industry for quite a while.I could already feel the quality and durability of the new Theragun Prime Plus right out of the box including the ... MoreI have been a fan of percussion massagers for years and have relied on them ever since I was first introduced to them by my physical therapist. Full disclosure, I have also been a customer and fan of Therabody’s other devices which incorporate some of this technology so I couldn’t wait to see and feel the difference compared to what had been using since they have been setting the bar in this industry for quite a while.I could already feel the quality and durability of the new Theragun Prime Plus right out of the box including the protective storage case and the four attachments it comes with. After a quick charge with the included USB-C charging cable, I was ready to give it a whirl after an intense work out. For reference, they have included reference cards with the package to help with identifying which attachment(s) work for what part of the body. The QR codes on the reference cards are convenient and take you directly to that specific routine in the Therabody app. While initially using the heated attachment, within seconds I could feel it beating up my sore spots and loosening up my stiff muscles. Since I was already accustomed to using some of the other familiar shaped ball attachments with my old percussion massager, I was excited to try out the included wedge scrapper since my therapist will sometimes use this on my back when it was really stiff. The wedge worked great up and down the muscles in my back to stretch them out as I continuously suffer from back pain from a prior injury and my muscles are always wound up from trying to compensate from that pain. The wedge also worked great on my leg and arm muscles to scrape and stretch out those muscles. The gun itself felt comfortable to hold by either handle but felt more balanced using the handle more towards the attachments. Using the buttons on the gun, you can select from five different speeds and three heat levels. You can sync the Theragun to the Therabody smartphone application for specific reference to recovery instructions however they had yet to add this new Prime Plus model during this review but anticipate it being released soon.In my opinion, the Theragun percussion massager is a must have device for anyone who is into fitness and muscle recovery or, like myself, suffer from constant muscle pain and soreness due to an injury. Having heat, and an option for cold therapy using an attachment not included with this package, is a game changer and makes a significant difference when trying to stretch out tight or sore muscles and would recommend the new Theragun Prime Plus to anyone in the market for a next level percussion massager.
I've had a few different percussion massagers and each were good in their own right. Some better than others, some cheaper than others but, none were really quite "right" in terms of overall functionality.I had an older model Theragun and really liked it but it had shown its age and stopped working. I wound get getting a couple different brands since then but they weren't really on par in terms of feel/functionality like the Theragun did. When I had the chance to get this one, was a no brainer for me. Overall, this massager just feels great and well built. Other massagers I had either had really weal motors or felt really cheap and plastic-y.The weight on this one is a little heavier than I expected however it makes up for it when using. Other massagers I had either had really weal motors or felt really cheap and plastic-y.The weight on this one is a little heavier than I expected however it makes up for it when using. Almost works out like a counterbalance when you're using so that it's not bouncing all over the place. The grip can take a little getting used to as it's not the normal, pistol shaped grip like you see with most other percussion massagers. Not really a pro or con but more up to personal preference really. The carrying case is super nice since you can, and will, travel with this. Has slots for all the massage heads and even an infographic on what each of the heads are/should be used for.Along with the massager, there is a companion app you can use for more targeted use of the massager and for physical therapy uses. There's several programs you can use or create your own to suit your needs. Usually I just turn the massager on and hit my legs or arms and call it a day. But now I can get more of a targeted, recuperative massage instead of just addressing some muscle soreness.Honestly, once you have one of these there's really no going back. Even just for relief from normal aches and muscle soreness to physical therapy, it's great to have around the house and, more importantly, in your travel case.
After having used another brand’s percussive massage gun, I gave the Theragun Prime Plus a try. Therabody has been the most prominent brand in massage guns, and there’s a lot to like about the Theragun Prime Plus, but I also had some fundamental reservations about it.The device feels solid, with premium build quality, and their trademark handle allows for easier positioning for hard to reach parts of the body. However, it’s fairly heavy (1.8 pounds), so prolonged usage might get a little fatiguing. The package comes with 4 different massage heads -- a relatively soft and wide “Dampener”, a firmer and more compact “Standard Ball”, a “Wedge”, and a special “Heated Percussive” head that is wired to warm up. The included instructions give advice on how to use each one, and the Therabody app gives specific recommendations based on the routine that the user selects. There are also a few handy cards for the most common use case scenarios. The percussion is VERY strong, even at the lowest setting. I’m a fairly muscular guy, and it was often on the verge of uncomfortable and unpleasant, so I’m not sure how well a person with less developed musculature would tolerate it. It’s so strong that it would often bounce off my body awkwardly, typically if I was massaging my back. The strength of the percussion also translates to a lot of vibration felt in the hand holding the massager, which can become unpleasant if prolonged. The massager has 5 speed settings that can be toggled manually, but if you use the app, a chosen routine will automatically choose the speed for you. The heated massage head works as expected.I have mixed feelings about the Therabody app. Bluetooth connection between the massager and my phone was quick and easy, as was the app setup. On the plus side, there are many routines to choose from, and the app will control the massager automatically (in terms of percussion speed and duration). Each routine shows which head to use, and a video guide of which areas to massage in real time. In addition, there’s a gauge that responds to how much pressure you’re using, and it’ll tell you when you’re in the Optimal range -- but as discussed above, “optimal” was usually pretty uncomfortable. Another downside is that you’re required to create a Therabody account in order to use the app, so it’s yet another account that might be hacked some time in the future.Of course, the app isn’t absolutely necessary, because you can always just toggle the percussive speed using the Power button. The manual says that the button above the Power button is supposed to control the intensity (with 3 intensity levels signified by an LED light), but when I tried it, nothing seemed to happen. There were no other details on how to use the intensity button in the manual nor the app.Charging is via USB-C (a cable is included, but not a wall charging plug). A basic carrying case is included as well.Overall, I would recommend this massager only to more hardcore athletes and fitness buffs due to the almost excessively strong percussion. For everyone else, there are quite a few options out there, so it’s worth shopping around and testing the device before purchasing, if possible.
This is nothing like other massage devices I’ve used in the past. The company describes this as percussive massage, as opposed to most massagers which involve vibration instead. With that in mind, I was not able to just pick this up and start using it intuitively. There’s definitely some training in order to know how to use it and how to benefit from its unique capabilities.Fortunately, Therabody has that covered. Between their website and the app, there’s a lot of training material, videos, and suggested routines targeting specific problems, intended benefits, and parts of the body. For example, as a runner, I occasionally deal with shin splints. The app has a routine specifically for that, and it was able to walk me through exactly how to use this to help my ... MoreThis is nothing like other massage devices I’ve used in the past. For example, as a runner, I occasionally deal with shin splints. The app has a routine specifically for that, and it was able to walk me through exactly how to use this to help my legs recover and allow me to perform without as much pain. When I train hard, and especially as I get older (I am now 47), a small level of pain has become the standard, and I assumed that it was unavoidable. This product, and the science behind it, is showing me that there are things I can do to mitigate and even eliminate those minor aches and pains associated with movement and training.Compared to other percussive massage devices, the Theragun Prime Plus adds a heating element to the massage gun. The heat feels nice, but I personally didn’t feel like I was getting much out of the heat relative to the massage itself. Because of the way the gun works, the head kind of floats above my skin most of the time it is in motion, so the heat doesn’t really get a chance to soak in. If I really wanted to experience heat, I might want to use a heating pad in addition to this device. My favorite part of my experience with this device is definitely the suggested routines built into the app. Not only are there videos and diagrams to suggest how to use the massager, but the app uses Bluetooth to control the device and timers on-screen to walk me through the routine. It’s almost like having a professional in the room taking me through a therapy routine.Physically and mechanically, this device is impressive. The battery is big enough to go through at least several days of individual use without having to recharge. I imagine a whole team of athletes could share one device during a practice (hygeine notwithstanding) without having it run out of juice. It feels very rugged and powerful, too. I don’t see it breaking or stalling even under heavy use.Overall, I am very pleased with this. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in recovering faster and having more energy for workouts or even daily stresses like tight muscles or soreness from sitting at a desk all day.
This is my second Theragun percussion massager and I really saw a huge benefit from the original one that I had. This updated version is a huge improvement. It now offers 5 different speed levels, three levels of heat, and its much quieter than my original model. I mainly use this on my right shoulder area and the triangle design allows me to easily grip it and hit that area by myself. The added heat has made a big difference, and it does feel really good after a session. The powerful 16mm percussive movement with up to 40 lbs. of force can really help work out knots that you may have. You are given a travel type carrying case that is not a hard backed case, but I think it does provide sufficient protection for this device. You are given a travel type carrying case that is not a hard backed case, but I think it does provide sufficient protection for this device. It also holds the included attachments (Heated percussive attachment, Dampener, Standard Ball, and wedge). With up to 150 minutes of battery life, this is something that you can easily take with you anywhere you go and it will assist in recovery from a work out or may assist in relieving some chronic pain that you may have as it does with my chronic pain. The device is also very well built and feels very premium. The USB-C charge port makes it simple to charge it with your phone charger so that is one less thing I have to carry around. This model is also compatible with other Theragun attachments. I am looking forward to purchasing the optional attachments to try them out, there is a Cold therapy one, a Vibration, thumb, and micro-point for targeting of different muscle groups. As I am writing this, the App is not updated to include this model so I can’t speak to that but from what they are promising, it will offer guided wellness routines, track usage just to name a couple of things that it will be offered. This is one of the few things that I can truly give a 5 star review for, it simply works great while offering a premium design and build.
