Thierry Mugler Angel Eau De Parfum 25 ml

Mugler Angel Eau de Parfum 25ml Spray Angel by Mugler is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women. This extraordinarily sweet scent opens up with fresh notes of pineapple, bergamot and red berries, which are combined with the heart of spicy nutmeg and caraway on an exquisite base of patchouli, vanilla, tonka, praline and sandalwood. Angel was the first scent released by Mugler and has continued to rank among his most successful fragrances, winning a FiFi Award Hall of Fame in 2007. It has an excellent longevity with a unique composition of sweet ingredients that makes it extremely recognizable. It was one of the first fragrances to use what has become known as "gourmet" notes - ingredients inspired by food and sweets. Due to its exceptional success in the last two decades, Angel was followed by many special editions, including “Angel Aqua Chic”, “Angel Muse”, and “Angel Precious Star” - released for the occasion of the scent’s 20th anniversary. Angel was launched by Mugler in 1992.

Even if you don’t love Angel, you have to respect its confident chaos. I do really love this fragrance—*after* it dries down. There’s a ton of fruit and, to me, overwhelmingly sweet accords in the opening. I think I’m just not a fan of pineapple and cotton candy mixed with patchouli; something about it seems/smells incongruous to me. Once you get to the heart notes, and it does take awhile, the fruit/candy bowl is tempered by a decent amount of spice, and it becomes somewhat—SOMEWHAT—more coherent, rounder, subtler. (Note that I said “subtlER,” not “subtle”! This is not your perfume if you want subtle.) And of course there’s the delicious base of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, tonka, musks, amber, and the notorious patchouli. Its influence is felt in countless other perfumes (shoutout to one of my other faves, Lolita Lempicka). It’s one of those “icon” perfumes—and icons can be pretty polarizing! I blind bought this, but unless you’re an unabashed gourmand fan or one of those folks who likes to collect significant perfumes because they’re significant, uh, don’t do that.

It’s a beautiful and unusual fragrance. When you hear it you know it’s Angel (if you a familiar with it). I know it was popular in the 90s, but for some reason no one in my circle wore it and neither did I (because I was a little kid). So my acquaintance with this perfume began when I was a teen. Long story short: at the time I was using a hair spray by some brand and always kept purchasing it because of the smell. I just loved the smell so much (spoiler: the fragrance in that hair spray was inspired by Angel). I was thinking “omg I wish there was a perfume like this†. I was shocked because I found it, I found this scent that was so similar to my hair spray fragrance but of course Angel is better on all levels. It’s deep, long lasting and just magical. It’s positioned as gourmand fragrance but for me personally it’s not something that smells edible. Generally, I just don’t want and can’t break it into notes, I hear it as a whole story. It’s sweet, powerful and futuristic. I read that many people say it smells like a fairy tale. For me it’s smells mysterious in a good way. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried the old version and can’t say if there any difference between two. But if you love interesting, sweet and strong fragrances, I would recommend to try it. It’s one of those fragrances when you need only one spray application. Of course you can use as many as you want, but again it’s very powerful and for me personally more than one spray application would give a headache. Love how it sounds on cold days.

It definitely has the DNA of the original but with a much lighter and sweeter opening. I absolutely adore this fragrance and it's better than I had expected it would be. Mugler perfumes have some of the best lasting power, not to mention the most unique fragrances! I'm so glad I own many of their fragrances because they do not disappoint. I have been using Angel for approximately 23 years. In 2004 I lost my smell due to an accident and this is been the only perfume that I have ever worn since. I have the bottle there that I bring with me and they fill it for me. I always know it’s fresh and always makes me happy. Now lately husband tells me that I smell different. I went to bring my bottle to the Macy’s in Poughkeepsie New York and the lady told me they didn’t have any refills at all they’re having a problem getting the the Formula right. It upsets me a lot because knowing that he didn’t like the way it smelled and me not realizing because I can’t smell and always knowing that the angel always smelt so good on me and now I have a bottle of perfume I spent a fortune on and it doesn’t smell right on me I have no perfume to wear. I’m disgusted about this. And I don’t understand why they would change the product and not keep the same formula. So maybe somebody tell me what’s happened? Is there anything in the world that smells like this? ☺️🥳

HORRIBLE NEW FORMULA AND DOESN'TLAST!!

Horrible! What have you done to this perfume LOREAL? It has gone downhill since they bought it, reformulated it again to contain too much alcohol and cutting down on the beautiful smell. I have been wearing this since 1993 and my one and only perfume. Now it smells like pure rubbing alcohol without texture or the layers of sexiness, plus this is the first time Angel gave me a migraine as soon as I sprayed it on me. Never had an issue before! I compared my old bottle versus the new one I just bought and it is COMPLETE GARBAGE in smell and longevity! Even my husband got a migraine and asked" what is that awful smell?" Why can't you leave this original Angel alone? I tried to switch to the other ones but can't due to the high content of alcohol being added! PLEASE ... MoreHorrible! Make the old Angel an Extrait in a dabber and keep

I tested a fresh bottle of both Angel and Angel Elixer at Macy’s today. I sprayed each on a wrist and walked around for quite awhile after. New bottle of Angel shocked me! It smelled like the old Impressions of sprays at CVS. It’s not deep or smooth or even sweet anymore! It barely went into the air. (Which is fine I don’t wanna choke anyone) I have some of my older bottle left and dabbed a tiny bit on the crook of my elbow to compare. THAT had the dark sweet scent and immediately I could smell it waft around. Will definitely not buy Angel anymore which is incredibly sad to me. PLEASE MAKE THE OLDER VERSION EVEN IF ITS A DABBER AND LABEL IT EXTRAIT DE PARFUM IF YOU NEED TO! Even if it was limited edition every few years or an online exclusive. Angel is down to three notes now?! Bergamot, Cotton candy, and patchouli? Well, it smells like that, and not even strongly. I followed Angel from 1996 and on. Granted, back then it was INCREDIBLY strong and everyone drowned themselves in it, much to other’s chagrin. So I get reining it in a bit. But it was also deep, darkly sweet, complicated. Cotton candy, pralines, honey, fruits, and a deep bitter chocolatey patchouli. I tested this one against my older bottle and it just doesn’t even have any character anymore and was gone in two hours even from my skin. The other arm (the older one) was there for 8. I get moving forward with the times and creating completely new ones like Nova (which is actually a powerhouse!!!) and Elixer (pleasant but quiet) but plenty of us ... MoreAngel is down to three notes now?! IMO mugler is missing out on money by phasing out a good 40 years of buying time from us 90’s teens.

This perfume smells amazing but the customer service from this company is the worst if you have an issue. I have been using this perfume for years but the last time it was given to me by a person who always buys perfumes at reputable companies this Angel perfume just completely evaporated. I have it for a while but I have had perfumes for many many years that have never had this happen. I’ve actually have never had a perfume at all where this occurred. Customer service would not help at all. Wanted an order number that I obviously could not have, since it was a gift, even after I provided pics of the genuine Angel bottle. So just beware that bottles or batches of perfume could be defective & your perfume might evaporate completely after you or someone has paid a lot of $$$$ for it. Unfortunately the company will provide no assistance unless you can find an order number & who knows what would happen even if you had it. My assumption would be based on this experience that they would just find another reason why they couldn’t remedy the issue. Oh, and I just read that they are asking for you to not talk about customer service in the reviews. Hmmmm, I wonder why?? Lol Well we wouldn’t have to if you stood behind your product, helped your customers, & responded to your emails.

Resting on their laurels.

I absolutely adore the Angel scent. It is clearly perfect for me as I have been devoted to only Angel for nearly 30 years. I get compliments every. single. time. I wear it which is daily. I saw a recent review which was the catalyst for me to write one in agreement. The customer service has plummeted & until reading the review that referenced the same perception I didn’t realize that it is likely related to the L’Oreal involvement. I don’t know but what I do know is that Angel/Mugler were once upon a time classy & professional & worth their price point. No. Longer. My 💙favorites list has disappeared. Any attempt to engage with customer service is disappointing. But. That’s what happens isn’t it? A quality product builds up their loyal customer base & then starts to skrimp & diminish their quality, resting on their laurels. Classic. They know I & other fans of this inimitable scent (original Angel) won’t be going anywhere because this is where to get it. I have even started making my own body powder utilizing the perfume & a “recipe” I have worked out to perfection to replace what was once offered but no longer. Lazy & complacent. Sad but definitely the trajectory of the world today.

The Kind of Perfume You Buy Just For The Bottle...
17 December 2021

The Good: The bottle is eye catching but it takes up a ridiculous amount of space on top of your vanity because it doesn't stand upright. After it settles in and diffuses a bit in intensity the scent isn't that awful. This scent gives me a "bad girl" vibe. When I imagine who would like this it's someone bold who isn't afraid to wear a very dark: think leather, chains, purple lipstick and a studded hand bag. So if that's your kind of thing on a regular basis, this might be a good fit for you. The Bad: Seriously why does this perfume bottle take up so much room on my vanity? I didn't reach for this enough to justify keeping it so I passed it along in one of my "take whatever you want out of this bag" friend gatherings. The scent is manly: musky, leathery and quite patchouli-esque. When you initially spray it, it honestly smells offensive. I can see why some of these reviews said it smelled like bug spray because it's does give a kind of this for the first half hour or so. Once you get past that and it mixes with your body chemistry, I think it isn't the worst perfume and can actually hook some compliments. However, there's other "bad girl" type of perfumes that I quite frankly enjoy much more. The Ugly/Honest: Most people (myself included) only bought this for the bottle and probably regret it. I don't think this perfume would gather half it's sales if this bottle was much more standard or basic and that's just me being blunt.
