I was very sceptical of this product before seeing some first hand reviews. It lives up the hype and actually made my audio system sound clearer and punchier thanks to the power filter. A bit expensive, but totally worthwhile if you can grab one with an eBay discount applied.

We are really impressed with our Thor power boards. The latest one from CHT was the A12BF. We just had a power glitch which caused the weather station connected to the top of the line Belkin board to reboot. But all our computer and home theatre gear is connected through the Thors and so they didn’t even notice it. Thor passes with flying colours!

Most boards over $100 will give you good surge / lightening protection so if that's all you care about, there are better value options in Thors' range.I bought this one for the mains filtering and the earth-separated banks ( x3). Plug spacing, pin grip, angled socket and good quality main lead and plug are all winners.BTW the single 'isolated' socket is for PoE supplies - it has surge protection but no filtering. Thor buries this important detail in their on-line only brochure. I used it for the motor that raises/lowers the side curtains on my movie screen. I have two of these boards. Ordered 2 Thor A12 powerboards, they arrived in a timely manner in a cardboard box but the box only contained 2 pieces of bubble wrap in it supposedly protecting the powerboards inside, main issue though was that both pieces of bubble wrap were on the top of the powerboards .. nothing in the bottom on the box at all which is where the main impact is going to be in transportation. Luckily the powerboards don't seem to have taken any damage although one of the boxes did have a nice dent in it presumably when the box got thrown around in transit.Surely it wouldn't be too much to ask and pretty much common sense really to actually package these delicate items with a bit more care and consideration ... surely ?
Excellent and efficient order and delivery from CHT.The Tor A12BF replaced a Belkin board that was “tripping” and cutting power to devices regularly for no reason. So far so good Thor seems to be working well.The product would be better if the plug spacing was wider to accomodate the large number of plug packs. The angled socket on the end helps for those that are horizontal, but many others are just a bit too wide to fit the standard spacing side by side.Not the most stylish of looks - but so far does the job.
It's a powerboard surge protector - not much I can say until disaster strikes :-). That's when the rubber really hits the road! I bought quite a few of these powerboards, the A12BF. They seem to work well, couldn't say until a power surge tries to take me out! I can only say from reading many reviews before I bought from audiophiles who swear their music sounds clearer. That speaks volumes (pardon pun). They are widely reputed to be the best powerboard surge protectors money can buy so I feel very comfortable using them for my car battery chargers, 86 inch 8K TV (and others) and all the computers in the house with valuable data on them and fragile components to protect. Overall, highly recommended I'd say.
I have had this unit around a month and have been super impressed with the performance. I have all my AV & TV splitters and NBN router powerered through this board and the picture quality is noticably clearer and no interfereance. With the storms at the weekend we had a powercut and last time we had a powercut (using a standard power board) one of my TV splitters blew out and had to replace the unit , but this time around no such problems and all appliacnces were unaffected. On top of this with the wide plug spacing and layout of the board, I can plug everything into the one board to help reeuce the clutter in my comms cupbard
I haven't yet been able to connect my hi-fi and review the sound as yet. However, the Thor A12BF certainly looks to be a quality product, with the separation of 3 circuits (2 filtered) a definite plus for me in a hi-fi application. Delivery time, packaging and price were all very good, though I did note fingerprints on the back of the unit which made me wonder whether perhaps I have been shipped a demo (rather than a brand new) unit. Advice of when it would be appropriate to use the separate, surge protected but non filtered circuit seems hard to find in the accompanying documentation.
Purchased a Thor A12BF 8-Way Smart Surge Protection Power Board online - they were the cheapest. I received a $40 discount on next purchase, bought another one with discount. I was kept updated and it was a quick delivery. Highly recommend if you prefer to purchase online.
