Thorne Research - Basic Prenatal - 90 Capsules

Description A gentle and effective daily multi- for women who are trying to conceive, are pregnant, or are nursing. A well-researched multi- formulated to nourish mom and support baby’s development, from pre-conception through nursing. It’s made without the additives and coatings found in mainstream prenatal supplements. Pre-conception, pregnancy, and nursing are critical times to optimize a mother's health and nutrition, which is important for both for mom and baby. Overall nutritional and caloric needs greatly increase during this time. However, it is often difficult for a woman to fulfill her daily nutrient needs through diet alone. Thorne’s Basic Prenatal is specifically formulated with the special needs of conception, pregnancy, and breastfeeding in mind. This formula contains well-absorbed, tissue-ready vitamins and minerals that are gentle on the stomach and non-constipating.

Excellent prenatal supplement

Great all round prenatal supplement which was exactly what I was after. Contains more than the New Zealand RDI for folate and for iodine in pregnancy so I could do without those extra tablets while taking this thorne prenatal. Impressed with quality and very minor smell/taste. Capsules are a bit on the large size. I had a lot of nausea initially so found it better taking these later in the day once that alleviated and with a denser, flavoured drink instead of plain water (going nuts for lemon cordial!). Think these did help the nausea somewhat too. Also found the iron content affected my GI system so instead of taking 3 capsules at the same time I take these across the day.

Excellent!

I welcome everyone! I started taking these vitamins when my second trimester of pregnancy ended. The main reason is the lack of strength. Honestly, I lay 2/3 of my pregnancy on the bed. Saw drugs recommended by a gynecologist in consultation. The effect of zero, iron still fell (. I bought this one from reviews. The effect did not make itself wait long, in two weeks, already in the third trimester I felt new. Guys, I redid all the housework. What my hands did not reach before, walked and walked a lot. I have the strength, and most importantly the desire for everything. Apathy completely passed. Vitamins are not cheap, but they are highly efficient. I gave birth to my daughter, I already drink the second jar. So they are suitable for nursing. And here they pleased ... MoreI welcome everyone! Great Prenatal!
2 December 2022

This is great Prenatal. You get 90 capsules in the bottle. The directions state to take three pills daily so this bottle will last you one month. The capsules are on the larger size but had no issues swallowing them. I was also pleasantly surprised that they didn’t cause any stomach issues. After taking these prenatal vitamins for a few weeks the morning sickness actually improved. These capsules also left no weird aftertaste. The ingredients in these capsules are great for Mom’s and babies. These prenatal by Thorne offer great vitamins compared to other brands. I also like how they are gluten & soy free, non-dairy and contain no artificial flavors.

High Quality Ingredients but 3X a day
16 December 2022

I love this brand and their array of vitamins. Thorne is known for their high quality ingredients tested and used by athletes/influencers. This isn't the reason I enjoy their supplements though, their products don't give me side effects like bloat, metallic aftertaste, and nausea. The average rating is comparing this prenatal vitamin to other quality brands. I was taking New Chapter and this was one large pill per day compared to Thorne's 3 capsules a day. It's a personal decision; however, I prefer to only take 1 horse pill per day. Thorne's are a normal capsule but, coupling these with other prescribed meds are a handful for me.

Mama Bear vitamins
13 December 2022

Great quality pre and post natal vitamin!! This is such a quality product. I could tell the difference soon after starting to take them. I felt better overall, my body felt supported, hair and nails grow like crazy, and my milk supply was unchamged. The ingredient list is balanced and clean, but not gluten free if that's a concern. They come in capsule form making them easy to take. I would prefer only having to take one or two pills a day but there isn't a big deal. Like most prenatal vitamins they did make me nauseous. Now, I just take it at night before bed and don't have any issues.

Might cause nausea first
16 September 2022

I am not pregnant yet, but taking these to prepare. At first, these made me very nauseous. But now as I am in my second bottle, I have no issues with nausea anymore. I started taking these one capsule a day before bed (so I would be asleep and not know about nausea, a great tip found from other reviews). My body adjusted and after a week or so I was able to take the whole serving amount in the daytime without nausea. The quality seems to be excellent. My hair and nails are growing super fast. I have done laser treatment to remove my body hair, but the hair started growing back in some places. I also have to get my nails done more frequently. So the nutrients seem to be great and effective. The only thing I don't like is the taste, but I kind of got used to that as ... MoreI am not pregnant yet, but taking these to prepare. I have trouble swallowing pills so I open these up, mix them with some plant milk in a shaker bottle, and drink them as a shot.

Three is not the magic number

The bottle design is lovely. It’s feminine and soft with the art on a white background so it gives out a clean feeling. I’ve compared this bottle against two other brands in my possession and I loved how many more nutrients/vitamins this bottle lists on its label. With that being said, I’m not exactly sure if a pregnant person really needs all that extra supplements. To be frank, in order to receive all the extra supplements, one needs to take 3 pills each day. 3 pills!! That isn’t even counting all the other supplements/medications a pregnant woman may need to take during the pregnancy.Crazy.Personally I supplement my diet daily with prenatal due to medical reasoning. In addition, I can’t tell the difference between the different brands as I can’t do blood works to compare. Therefore, Thorne prenatal supplements will not be in my future medicine pantry. I mean, do you see how big the pills are?!
