I'm not going to lie I use this thing for everything as far as usability works great if I go to haul something and I realize I don't have enough room a lot of times I've thrown it up top and made it home without making another trip all kinds of crazy stuff has been on top of mine in the short time I've had it. But I will say as far as looks it does not look very good the piece that goes on it for looks never quite fit right no matter which way I adjust it I get it straight I drive down the road I look at it and it's wobbly again. Not good when you spend that kind of money on this I mean a brand new car I want everything to look right all my other accessories look good besides this one. I think it's just not cut right to size off a little bit. I'm sure it's affecting it somehow this is a wind flap that doesn't sit right in the Wind.

Honestly, I'm so tired of dealing with this thing that I'm going to keep this short. They didn't provide me with shipping updates so it sat outside my apartment building for a full day before i realized it had been delivered. Very lucky it didn't get stolen. They also gave me a defective piece so 2 hours of work on a beautiful Sunday totally wasted until i can get that part. Flimsy wind guard and don't love the reliance on some of the plastic pieces that could easily be metal.

The young girl from REI that helped me with getting my Thule Canyon XT out to my car was an extraordinary person. Very helpful and polite. There was a 6” x6” hole in the side of the box that looked like it was torn open but other than that the entire box was undamaged. So I never said anything. I did find that when I got home and opened the box the hole was made so someone could remove the Thule logo placard that was on the side of the Canyon XT.

Did a lot of research and the Canyon XT (+XT extension) roof basket setup has been a great addition to our 2015 RAV4 XLE. Got this basket for camping and increasing general utility of the vehicle which doesn't have a ton a trunk space. We can throw the collapsible camp wagon, double stroller, beachside sunshade and more on top with just two straps to secure.I paid close attention to the RAV4's stock crossbars max weight limit (100lbs), and accommodated for weight of Canyon XT + extension (~40lbs), so I only loaded about 55lbs of the remaining 60lbs of the limit. I felt completely happy with a 4hr drive up to 75MPH, with plenty of turns and some average bumps (not offroading). Screws didn't loosen, and didn't notice much humming as other racks create. Will plan on ... MoreDid a lot of research and the Canyon XT (+XT extension) roof basket setup has been a great addition to our 2015 RAV4 XLE. Pleased so far with my Thule Wingbar Evo crossbars and Thule Canyon Cargo Basket combo (installed on 2017 CRV) purchased from Rack Attack. Timely delivery, ease of assembly, and installation. One disappointment: three of five bolt / wingnut combos securing the basket wind screen vibrated loose and were lost on first trip. Contacted Rack Attack customer service and was referred to Thule. Thule promptly mailed replacement bolts, etc. (GREAT customer service rep and response; replacement hardware delivered before we returned from our trip.) Caution future purchasers to add LocTite or similar product to these bolts.
I installed my Thule Canyon XT cargo basket using a different brand of cross rails. The Thule bars were out of my budget. I had to flip the Thule mounting brackets on the mounting rail to face the center of the car. Otherwise the bracket would rest on the rails plastic end caps. It only moved the mounting u-bolt 2” to center and points the locking mechanism to the center of car. The u-bolt connects the cross bars to the mounting bracket and the mounting bracket connects to a nylon coupler that connects to the basket. Everything is steel except the 4 mounting points that are nylon. Other than the nylon couplersThe Canyon XT is put together well and is large enough for the 2023 Outback Wilderness.
I knew that my Subaru may be my primary residence along with my tent. I also have a bike. I looked into small trailers/pop-up, hitches-I am a fugal person and a minimalist who does not want to "pay the man" any more than I have to. I researched and decided on this rack for my Subaru outback- along with a Saris Bones 3, and to decided to primarily sleep in my tent. (I can also sleep in the Subaru if weather is threatening lightning.) Why forgo the attachments?-cost and the Subaru has a low hitch/tail weight of 250 lbs, a hitch is costly, and license and storage pay to a camper-all are costly and not practical for me. I did by rack on sale and picked it up in Orlando-I use a luggage bag in it-totally worth it-this is my home away from nowhere city.
I bought this because we are a family of four and have a small hatchback and never have enough room. The basket is fairly easy to assemble but I would suggest two people to getting it up on top of your vehicle… it’s sturdy and heavy (I’m a woman and I needed my teenage son to help me lift it). The rack itself is very sturdy and clearly well made. My biggest issue is there are these screw tops you use to screw down the plastic fairing (and they’re used for a couple other areas). Well I recommend checking them after every long drive because they can come loose… and fall off. I lost one on a 6 hour car drive up the east coast and it’s not easy to find a replacement- check them often and tighten as needed or you’ll lose one like me. I don’t have the extension part yet ... MoreI bought this because we are a family of four and have a small hatchback and never have enough room. I don’t have the extension part yet but without it I still find plenty of room for a cooler, and at least 3 large duffel bags. And I’m sure I could stack and put more stuff up there. Definitely worth the purchase (and it’s stylish).
Perfect for providing a little additional cargo capacity to our compact wagon. We also have a Thule cargo box which we use for long road trips. In retrospect, this basket is more practical because it is easy to leave on the roof when we are around town (99% of the time). Assembly and installation were straightforward - IKEA could learn a thing or two from Thule's pictorial instructions!
Cargo basket looks and works great for my purpose (transporting camping gear).Marking down because the mounting was a pain in the butt and I am worried about getting this on again if I need to take the rack off. Also, I found that accessories related to this rack have been discontinued, so have not been able to add an accessory bar. Wishing I spent a little extra money on another rack. Would be great if there was a trade in program.Everyone at the shop was super helpful.
