One of the main factors that led me to this purchase was that I do not like giving him prescription medications, as a pharmacy worker the drugs used for pets can be a little questionable sometimes and with his CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease), I want to make sure he is as healthy as possible and I can avoid those medications unless it is absolutely necessary. I do have one complaint, I think the velcro needs to be stronger to keep the Thundershirt on because he will rip it off. It was $40 which is very expensive if you are on a budget but I think it was worth every penny. I really recommend this product to pet moms and dads who have cats or dogs with anxiety like issues, from my experience, the Thundershirt reduces stress and anxiety for my cat and he doesn't need medication when he is wearing it.

However after using this thundershirt he sits calmly in one spot. Hopefully by using this Thundershirt for a longer period he can be free from all his fear and anxiety during bad weather. At first she seemed like she was afraid to move but then laid down and seemed to be able to breathe OK. The only two things that bring on the anxiety for her are the really loud fireworks and the really loud thunderstorms!! I ordered her a L which followed the measurements that you recommended and the length is perfect, just really tight around the belly. She is only 13 inches at the shoulders and weighs around 65 lbs. Her body type looks like that of an English bulldog but her head is more like a Pittie shape, but smaller of course. Possibly a Staffie mix. Once again I am greatly impressed by the Thundershirt and how fabulously it worked for the entire storm today!! "Baby Girl" for the first time was able to lay down and sleep through the worst storm we have had this summer so far!

If at first you don't succeed with the thundershirt, don't give up!
1 August 2022

Adopted a black mouth cur from the shelter. Escape artist, separation anxiety to the maximum. First time I put the shirt on her, I left her in the car while I ran into the store (no, it wasn't hot out! and I wasn't long. but I'd be wondering the same, reading the above!) When I got back to the car, though, she had the thundershirt Off! And she was trying to escape from the slightly open window, yelping! I honestly put the jacket back into the box because it has a money-back guarantee. I was going to send it back. However, "life" got in the way and I never mailed it. Lo and behold, came upon it a month later, right before a move of residence to another state. I put it on her and she immediately calmed, laid down and fell asleep for the 4 hour drive. So grateful I don't have to sedate her for long trips now. Works every time. Also, she was scratching herself, seemed like a nervous habit because no fleas, no nothing, just scratching. Put on the thundershirt and immediately calm, down, and asleep! No offense to my Vet, but they wanted me to give her apoquel and all she needed was the reassurance of the Thundershirt! Thank you!

Two years ago we rescued our now 7 year old pit bull. He came with anxiety from storms, fireworks, gun shots (we live near a large park in a large city), and suffers separation anxiety. He would panic even if there was a pressure change or a slight sprinkle- even if a loud truck drove by. He has ripped out teeth and cut his gums from being crated during storms on the few occasions we sadly couldn’t be home. For 2 years we’ve gone through so much Xanax for him, he was at the highest dose and would still panic through it. We tried a thunder shirt kind of out of desperation- I figured if Xanax wasn’t touching his panic then nothing would. Y’all. It’s Fourth of July weekend and fireworks and gun shots are popping off a few blocks away- he is asleep comfortably on the couch. We haven’t had to put it on him since. I’m sorry this is long winded but I could kind of cry writing this. Not only was it so hard to watch him suffer, pacing around panting heavily from his terror, but our 1 year old daughter who loves him was starting to cry when he got like that. I’m not sure how long this will last but right now we are beyond grateful for thundershirt.

I recently adopted 2 retired greyhounds and noticed my female would hide and pant before and during rainstorms. I bought these just a few weeks before July 4th since the firecrackers were already starting to explode in our neighborhood and my male grey refused to walk after hearing pops and getting spooked. I got 2 in XL: one in Camo with orange stripes and the sport in platinum which has a quilted weave and feels thicker so I could see if they had any preference since they both fit on either dog (they like them both). Just followed the directions for wrapping the shirts and it seemed to instantly calm my girl down to the point where she doesn’t want to take it off though eventually she lets me. I’ve already gotten my money’s worth knowing they like wearing them and seems to help them. I’m very happy I got them. Thanks for making these.

I have a 2-year-old Border Collie. I was sceptical about this product with my boy as his barking/anxiety is triggered by sudden noises outside the house, however, usually he does not like being held tightly. Initially when we first put it on him, he was not bothered by wearing it and he seemed a lot calmer through a set of Australia Day fireworks than he usually would be. However, I did notice that the longer I left it on him the less effective it would be. So, I think using it for him just for when he really needs it would be the most effective method. It’s hard to tell without trying it in different scenarios and over a long period of time. Will be good to take away camping with us to properly try it out then!Quality seems great and it fit him perfectly. I ... MoreI have a 2-year-old Border Collie. What a difference!

Our 9 month old pup Jack is a very different kind of a dog. We adopted him at 3 months for a lovely local rescue where they described him as being very sweet but unpuppy like. We started noticing a lot of quirks as days went by after his adoption, like a prancing high-step gait, sideways walk, circling, hesitation towards most things, trouble getting up and down like a much older dog, depth perception issues, and a seeming lack of short-term memory, to name a few. He wanted to give and receive affection but would back away, and he wanted to play with other dogs but didn't seem to understand how. He wanted to give and receive affection but would back away, and he wanted to play with other dogs but didn't seem to understand how. Our dog trainer recommended a rehab vet who informally diagnosed him with a neurological disorder having to do with his cerebellum, as well as a crooked and somewhat weak skeletal frame. All the pieces fit when we looked up that condition and answered a lot of our questions. She found that unbeknownst to us, Jack's lower back was very tender, so she prescribed some low-dose pain meds which made an immediate positive change in his ability to get up and down easily. For his circling and situations where he might get anxious, she suggested a Thundershirt. We ordered one and what a difference! Now when he seems unable to stop circling or when he can't relax himself, we put it on him and he calms right down. Jack will probably always have all these unusual idiosyncrasies but he is a happy, sweet dog who is learning to adjust to the world in his own way, and the Thundershirt is one thing that definitely makes his life easier.

The fabric is nice but being a snug fit, we're not sure how that might affect his temperature - Seems like it'd be a great jacket to wear during winter though.

I was initially confused by the Thunderbuddy as I couldn't work out how to put the product on my dog once unboxing. Was hoping for more clear instructions on this. The material was great and looked comfortable for him as normally he will try to remove any clothing as it annoys him. Using the instructions to introduce the product to him worked well or may have been a help to him being good to wear the item. I did not get the chance to use this during loud noises such as fireworks but it seemed to keep my dog relatively calmer during thunderstorms then he usually is. He paced less then he normally does on the one occasion we got a thunderstorm and did not pee inside our house like he normally does due to anxiety which is a good start. The size is also adjustable which is great as allthough it was a small, was still quite big on my Maltese x Shitzu. The quality of the material was also quite thick but seemed well put together. The product has a 45 day guarantee so I would try this on my other dog on that basis alone.*I was gifted a product sample to trial and review.
