The manufacturer recommends washing the hat frequently, which is also a sign of good quality of the materials.The good design of the hat is also something I want to mention. The mesh in the the top of the hat should keep my head ventilated during summer heat. The hat can be tied on whenever it's windy. It repels rain. It can be slightly adjusted in size. There is even a label inside the hat where one can write the name of the owner and the phone number. So, if the hat is lost, there is a good chance that it will be returned to the owner :-)Overall, so far I'm very satisfied with the hat and would recommend it.

I received this as a birthday gift. I'm using it for walks/hikes and golf. It's Khaki-Olive, a very nice color. It has a smaller brim than my LTM6 but still offers good protection for my face, ears and neck. It does get warm inside, but not as much as a ball cap. It's one size larger than I normally wear, and it fits quite well. Washes easily and goes back into shape with little effort. If you don't like wrinkles in your hat, you won't be happy. I've been complimented on the look and color of the hat. It's a bit pricey.

Hi,This is my third Tilley hat.The LTM5 is perfect for what I need.I have a LTM6 and LTM3.Both of them, the front brim moves down and blocks my view, on high speed downhill sections, especially the LTM6.This one has a shorter front brim and hasn't bent down on me yet.My first one fits too tight and I went according to suggested way to order.Went one size up and next two hats are perfect fit.Nerd straps work amazing!Delivery was super fast too.I love how these hats keep the bugs off my bare head too, MUCH better than a ball cap!
For years, I'd had a Tilley winter hat so finally realized it made more sense to get a summer-weight one for the warmer months. Fortunately, my old hat still had a 7 and 3/8 label, so I took a chance and ordered the T5MO. Bingo! Exactly the right size, a perfect colour, and a hat I wear every day I go outside whether it's rain or shine. The cherry on the top was an easy, seamless ordering experience with Altitude Sports. It’s my second Tilley same model and I use both at different locations. Even though the first one is 10 years older, can’t see the difference with the newer one! Both still look brand new! Wash it regularly to keep the sparkle! Simply love the fit, the reliability and the fashion! It’s clearly the best hat on the market!

Paired with a big met, the wide brim keeps the net off of my face.I've washed it once and it comes back into shape pretty quickly once you wear it a few times. The air vents at the top work pretty well and I never felt hot in it, even in 25c humid heat. The mesh at the top is also a soft nylon type of fabric, not a hard plastic, like I was afraid it might have been based on the photos.I'm deducting a star because there were a few loose threads in the hat when it arrived. I read a lot of reviews about how the Canadian made versions were impeccable in quality. But this one is made in China and I had to snip off some dangly threads. I wanted a hat that provided more coverage than a baseball cap, flattered my head shape (short, round, big head), made of good quality materials, washable and bonus lifetime warranty. This fits the bill. If you struggle with finding a hat that looks good on you (not every one has a "hat head" most hats and touques I've tried on look terrible on me) give it a try!I took the recommendations of other reviews and would agree too that you should order a size up. My hat size is normally a 7 1/4 but I ordered 7 3/8. It was not too tight, enough wiggle room and can be tightened as well. Several years ago, a pal told me about his Tilley hat, and how much he liked it. After much thought, I saved up and purchased one. I use it for sunny activities like fly-fishing and kayaking lakes. It has seen a lot of hard use and been hand washed many times. It is cool in hot climates and always drys nicely after a scrub. Furthermore, it is crushable with not ill effect. I like that I can keep some cash hidden it the lining and the ID tag. I own many hats, but this one is by far my favorite.
very comfortable on my head but wish the top part of the hat was made of a thinner much more breathable material. I took out the white foam insert hoping to make it more breathable but that didn't help much. The top material seems to be a vinyl like fabric. I wish there was a version of this without the silly velcro pocket (i may cut this out)which essentially makes a double layer on the top of the head and a more lightweight breathable top - then it would be perfect. I know the stash pocket is a "feature" for them but i'll never use it. Leave the side mesh for some air flow but improve the top! Would only recommend this for cooler conditions. Not good for warm hiking unless you want a wet sweaty head.
