Disappointed with the colour. Was way to orange / yellow. Spoke to Dulux and this is not an uncommon remark. You can tint it but with covid-19 the prospect of getting a tin returned for tinting is a little difficult right now. I've used Enrich oil in the past, and at halve the price the colour is better IMO as its more reddish. But... I've not had time to see how this product works over time. So perhaps (if I remember) I'll review again and comment on the longevity. I hope its better then Enrich otherwise I just wasted money.

Did the job beautifully, althougg I realised too late it wasnt clear, it looks fabul oous nonetheless. Instructions were straightforward, so worked with a mop and brush. Had to brush a few times to get it even -wiping excess off you need a towel. Water certainly helped too.

I found this product very easy to use and provided great coverage, took me less than than 2 hours to cover a very large deck ….. not bad for a 70+ old lady with arthritis …The one coat only does what it says …. I used a deck brush and found this superior to the lambs wool mop …. easily coats the inside gaps of the timber …

I always used oil based decking oil in the past because of durability but just took way to long to dry 2 days plus. Now that I have dogs needed something that dries quick so gave this product a go. It's very thick so need to mix it really well. The finished product gives a beautiful rich red brown look on merbau and the best part dries in 3 hours where my dogs could walk on it and return furniture. Also so easy to wash up being water based. Very happy with end result hope its as durable as oil based time will tell.
I was expecting a product with some body, but this has the consistency of water. So thin that it is impossible to apply at the recommended rate of 12 sqm per litre without it dripping all over the place. Hard to believe it will provide much protection.
Horrible. Basically a mission brown glue paint. Conceals all timber features and a nightmare to remove. Hours of water blasting with timber stripper to get it off and the residue sticks to every surface. Sanding is easier but still will take time.
We bought this to cover our 53sqm jarrah deck. 10l was not enough to do that area. We bought a second 10l to finish the job and we will use the remainder for hopefully, a second coat before the weather in Perth gets wet. It remains to be seen how it copes with getting soaked with rain. And why did BPaints add a yellow tint to the oil ?Totally unnecessary. Does not do jarrah any favours.
Yes, this product will alter the colour of your timber - it's deck oil, not a clear lacquer. For the intended use, it's great. Very easy application, nice finish. I used it on a large slab of old hardwood, and it looks great.Only down side was the very thick layer of substance on the bottom of the can that required a good deal of mixing. Some small bits remained. I would rate this 4 stars due to this, but I bumped it up to 5 to counter the silly 2 stars of a previous reviewer who expected a deck oil to give a clear finish on light plywood!
I have an 80m2 tallowwood deck, that is totally exposed and faces north east and it's 12 years old. Being totally exposed I knew it would need treating every 12 months. In the first 10 years I did this religiously and tried most brands and both types of water based and mineral based decking 'oils'. By the time the 12 months was up it didn't seem to matter which one I used, from middle price point to high end, they all performed about the same.....pretty bad. The one corner under a large mango tree was always great because it got no sun. Two years ago decided to try British Paints decking oil. Mineral based and 2/3 to half the price of the others, chisen due to a health issue ( not even covid) and lack of funds. I decided it needed doing again, but it wasn't looking ... Decided to use British Paints decking oil again. One coat and it only took 10 litres and is looking shiny in places apart from under the mango tree. Unheard of in the past, even after onlyv12 months. I'll give it another coat and I know it will be all it needs. I think the secret is in the slow drying nature of the product. Yes, it may be inconvenient for some but it is protecting my deck in its slowness, and an 80m2 deck wouldn't be cheap to replace. This is definitely a case where you get way more than you pay for.
I've used many many brands on my 13yr old decking and purchased this about 5 months ago knowing I was going to put 2 coats on regardless of the marketing. I am impressed! After 2 coats there was some left in the can so used it as a 3rd coat in a small 2x4m section. It's the best section, repels water to this day, withstanding my muddy boots no problems.
