This is very much the watch I need: not too fancy, but something a little more elegant than a digital watch.I wish I could advance the day of the month at the end of a 30-day (or less) month without cycling through a 24-hour turn of the hands. If there's a way to do so, it would be helpful to know, but the watch didn't come with a manual, which is another drawback.Otherwise it's a great watch.

I'm not sure why, but I love the look of this watch. I've just purchased #3 and #4. (#4 is to be saved for a later date.) I'm a bit rough on watches, hence the purchase of two of this model. I always prefer the Indiglo models for those times when waking up in the early morning hours, wandering what time it is.

I grew up with Timex. I remember sitting in front of the TV as a kid in the 60s and watching the Timex torture test commercials when theyd strap a Timex watch to the propeller of a boat, or place a watch on the bow of a motor boat racing through river rapids. And of course theyd end the commercial with their famous line, It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Good stuff. But on my last few Timex watches, when its time to change the battery, after removing the rear plate, I cannot get the plate back on. In my attempt at replacing the plate, Ive watched a number of tutorials, marked the watch case with a pen to ensure I placed it back precisely where it was before removal, and I even purchased a watch press. Ive had no luck. With no way of replacing the rear case, my Timex watches have essentially become a deposable watch. When the battery dies, my only option is to throw the watch out and purchase a new watch. Even with Timexs competitive prices, thats not only a costly alternative, but a waste of a good watch. My current watch battery has lasted 5 months after purchase. Sadly (I truly mean that), Ill miss my old faithful Timex, but Im now in search of a non-disposable watch brand.

Leather quality

The watch overall is very good, however just a light sweat from working in the heat for an hour or two is enough to darken the leather strap and make it look kind of gross until you've sweated enough to darken the entire strap. It's decently water resistant, it's made it through a few rain storms and hasn't had any issues and the glow in the dark face is great!

My father bought me my first watch when at 6 years old I learned to tell time. It was a Hamilton Boulton that I broke in one week. My father replaced it with a Timex. I wore that through the rest of elementary school and part of junior high school. I remember seeing the John Cameron Swazee ads with the motto, "Taking a lickin' and keeps on tickin'." I currently own two other Timex: another Expedition with a nylon strap with velcro and another with a leather strap. I wear the other Expedition when I ride my bike,go to the beach or exercise outside; it's easy to wash the nylon strap. This is meant for the summer. It keeps time as accurately as my other watches (all of which - with one exception - are quartz). Only my Bulova Precisionist keeps time better. It keeps time as accurately as my other watches (all of which - with one exception - are quartz). Only my Bulova Precisionist keeps time better. Most importantly the dial is fairly easy to read. The inner numbers for 24-hour time complicates that a bit, but not too much. Without exception all the timex watches that I own have Indiglo, something I have appreciated on several occasions. And in my experiences with my first Timex, I know better than to test its water resistance. I don't have to worry about a splash or two. But you need to nuts to swim or shower with this watch unless you're preparing to dispose of it. I have one or two more expensive watches. But on the weekend, my Timex watches are my "go-to" watches.

Never lets you down
3 September 2024

The Timex Expedition Indiglo watches never fail to please. This particular one has an easy to read face, off-white background with black numbers and easy to see hands. This is the first time I chose a black surround. I'm delighted with the choice. And of course the Indiglo makes it so easy to light up the watch face in the dark to read the time. These watches last forever. After many years, the strap will eventually break. The watch is so affordable, it is cheaper and easier to buy a new watch than to replace the strap. Can't go wrong with this watch.

Don't expect to receive what you order anytime soon, absolutely terrible shipping. 3 weeks after ordering I still don't have the watch. How do you expect me to review your watch? Y'all should review your shipping policy'sDo yourself a favor and pay more at a retail store. Heck the watch could be garbage and I will send it back when (if) I get it. This will my last purchase of a Timex watch.

The elegance is it's simplicity. The watch I bought has a black face and gray case. The Arabic numbers are generally easy to read, but the contrast and size of the numbers isn't as great as Timex's Easy Reader line. The printing on the face is actually a very light gray and not as white as it appears in some of the photos. Those who have aging eyes like mine may have some difficulty reading the watch as ambient light fades. The hour and minute hands are phosphorescent, but their brightness/contrast depends on ambient lighting and preceding "charge." The Indiglo works best in very low light as it only faintly illuminates the watch face with the numbers and hands appearing dark. (Remember that the watch face is intrinsically dark, so it doesn't let as much "glow" across as would a lighter-colored watch face.) However, I'm not taking any stars away for the above. The watch is elegantly simple, just the right size, accurate, readable, water resistant to 50m, uses the commonly available CR2016 button battery. This has become my everyday-wear and travel watch. (The watch band is made of a nice and supple genuine leather, but I replaced mine with a ArtStyle NATO-type watch band for better durability under constant hand washing, swimming, outdoor sports, etc.).

I would have been happier if it had an actual dark brown 'leather' strap and that I didn't have to pay an additional $20. then offered at Amazon for the same watch w/suede band, when I preferred a real leather dark brown band. when analog items are becoming obsolete you should pay attention to details like the description of the leather band was misleading, its suede and nor dark brown, its medium brown. I love the watch and will wear it but not love it the same as my original watch and band with an actual dark leather band. Most my friend have Apple or Samsung watches I continue to wear my Timex. Consider being more loyal to your customers who have been loyal to you.

Very nice watch for the money. Would be 5 stars, but the band was not the same as shown in the picture above. The picture shows a dark brown smooth leather band, but the watch came with a lighter brown and more of a suede band. Still a nice watch, just not exactly what I was looking for in the band.
