Annoyed. Bunch of problems.

I never write reviews, but I'm beyond annoyed.I initially loved it, especially because it was a christmas (2017) gift from someone special. So I forgave it when after a while it would be off on the time (either because it was running fast or slow). Then, I was getting a serious watch tan, so I decided to give it a rest for 2 weeks -- in my SOFT cotton purse, with nothing else in there. When I decided to bring it back out, the stem had fallen off. Now, because it was a gift and they have no proof of purchase, they say they consider it out of warranty (just 7 months old) and will charge me if I want to fix it. Not happening. More annoyed because I hate creating waste, but this thing is useless to me.. I'm not buying anymore Timex stuff.

I bought this watch a little over two years ago, it has been a wonderful purchase. I am always a punctual person, but I hate looking at my phone for the time, and with the amount of time I spend outdoors I wanted something reliable that wasn't a 300 dollar digital phone. I wanted a classical slim look as well, as new watches are too fancy for a guy who is basically 90 years old at his core. In two years I have used it to estimate mileage travled, I have told people the time, and its been beatin on against rocks and submersed in water well past its recommended depth. Held up great, it did take a knock back in Feb, and the date twitches out a bit, but just click it and your good. Great watch, you want a simple watch to wear everyday.

This is a really great military inspired field watch. It's a watch with a great history as being dependable and durable. I love the indiglo function that illuminates the face for exceptional readability at night. The dial isn't too busy showing 1 to 12 in large arabic numerals with 13 to 24 in smaller numbers in the inner ring. I appreciate the watch looks very much like a Hamilton Khaki which is arguably the best field watch but the Timex scout sells the look at a much cheaper price. The arrow second hand also provides a little pop of color and it compliments the look of the dial perfectly. I usually don't like these woven nylon bands. However, that band that comes with this watch feels thick but it's also comfortable at the same time which is very uncommon for a ... MoreThis is a really great military inspired field watch. The water resistance rating is stated as 50 meters but I've had no problems with mine wearing it in the shower and swimming in the pool. If you like that classic military style field watch design you will definitely like this Timex scout. It's a timeless design from a well known watch manufacturer. Incidentally, these watches also are strap monsters. They're quite versatile if you want to swap out the strap for a nato or metal band. It is common for the second hand to not line up perfectly with the second indices but that itself is common with quartz watches of any price range.

Doesn’t last
17 September 2018

Have owned two of these in the past year and a half. Both watches have broken the same way. The date window will stop functioning. The crown will intermittently work to readjust the date, but its clear something is broken inside. The first watch I returned to the retailer with the crown missing, it had fallen off at some point. Unknowingly it was broken when I purchased it from the store. I’m taking the second one camping and expect the crown will vanish somewhere on the trail. This one was purchased online and won’t be covered under warranty.Overall a disappointing build on this watch. Unfortunately I’ll be looking for a new watch for next camping season, and am reluctant to trust Timex with that responsibility.

Good Watch/Indigo Light Not so much
20 March 2024

The indigo light button does not always work as intended. I sometimes need to pull the crown button out and then press it back in to make the light go on. Other than that, the watch itself is pretty good for what it’s worth.

My first watch in years
26 July 2021

So I wanted to buy a watch, I havent used one in several years. I went for this option and I just love it!Its very simple but very good looking. Indiglo is amazing, the second hand is really accurate!! The ticking is loud when the room is completely silent, but when you put it close to your ear its just very satisfying! I simply love it.Also the strap can be replaced to match other colors and fit your style! To be honest worth the buy all the way.

Quality Watch

I needed a watch for casual wear. This fit the bill. Would not recommend using for outside work. This fabric band does not hold up well without discoloration due to sweat. Other than that it meets my needs.

Returns are Difficult

Nice watch but I ordered it by mistake and want to return it. There is no easy way to return the watch. Several emails have been sent back and forth requesting instructions to return the watch. The response se has been terrible. I will.never purchase a watch direct from Timex again!

Review: Timex Expedition Scout - black dial, green canvas strap
27 June 2016

I recently purchased the black dial & green canvas strap version of the Timex Expedition Scout. After spending a little time with this watch I am quite impressed with the features like the large, easy-to-read military-like black 24-hour dial, date window, padded green canvas strap big enough for my 8.5 inch wrist, and the Indiglo night light. I've checked the accuracy against the U.S. Atomic clock in Ft Collins, CO and its timekeeping appears to be spot on. The hardened mineral crystal lens is c-l-e-a-r and makes acquiring the current time a breeze. The 50M water resistance rating is appreciated in the event I get caught in a rain shower, although I'll do my best to keep the watch out of water. The only design improvement would be to add "shoulders" to surround and protect the crown. If you are looking for a military style field watch or a camping watch, this is your timepiece. The bottom line: this watch looks great on my wrist, friends have complimented me, it is comfortable to wear, and it is very reasonably priced. My son-in-law likes blue dial watches, so he can expect one for his birthday next month.

Timex watches are the best going
2 April 2019

Excellent watch. Great Price. The Expedition models with the Indigo night light are great. I have had different versions and they all are outstanding watches. Anytime I had a problem with any Timex watch it wasn't the watch, it was me that broke the watch. I am 62 and have had Times watches all my life. Very dependable, rugged watch. Just like the old Timex advertisement says "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking" Would not buy any other brand.
