The Nakiri’s broad rectangular blade allows for quick and efficient chopping, dicing and mincing of large vegetables. The height of the blade also allows cutting through harder root vegetables with a straight down chopping motion. The Nakiri may also be turned upside down to use the spine of the blade to scrape ingredients across the chopping board without damaging the blade. The blade profile with its straight, flat edge works best when using an up and down chopping motion. The Nakiri knife has a long, thin, and rectangular-shaped blade with a straight edge, and a flat, blunt tip. The Nakiri’s shape can be mistaken for a cleaver but be warned that it is not made for heavy-duty work like cutting bones or frozen foods. The thinness of the blade also ensures that delicate vegetables can be cleanly cut without ripping the skin, and helps to achieve crisp edges on each slice.

Was expecting this to be a Japanese made knife. Please provide the COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE FOR EVERY KNIFE listed for sale on your website.Although the quality is decent, the performance and finish of this product falls short of being impressive. Unfortunately I won't be patronising this business anymore and mind you, I've bought over heaps of knives from them before, right from their retail days.

Bought this knife to try a cheaper new Nakiri, but was disappointed with the quality of the knife and how sharp it was out of the box, even at a cheaper price point. Handle is crudely glued to the blade and looks quite cheaply made, and it’ll need a good sharpen before you can use it.

The Reigetsu is a fantastic budget knife that is very light, easy to use, very sharp straight out of the box and easy to maintain. The handle is deliberately very lightweight and whilst it may appear flimsy, it actually works very well for the design. My only gripe is that the top corner of the spine of the blade is very square and pointy out of the box. It's not sharp enough to be dangerous, but it can mean you catch your finger or hand if using the spine as your chopping position. About a minute with a cross-cut file and that was rounded and polished, so it was a really easy fix.Otherwise, highly recommended, especially if you want to try a nakiri knife to see what they are and how they work.
I bought this to try out before buying a more expensive nakiri, as I usually just use a chef's knife and santoku. So far it's held up well with some tougher veggies and finer cutting work. It's nice and light, feels solid and looks quite nice, especially considering the price point.
I bought as a gift. Quick delivery and it's now chopping up a storm
Easy shopping experience, knife cuts like butter.
Super sharp straight from the box. Great shop to deal with. Awesome communication and service.
Excellent - a little surprised and quite pleased to receive such a rapid response to my request for care and sharpening info for my new knife set - and on the weekend! Thanks Ken
I ordered two knives by Reigetsu, the blades seem fine but the handles are weird. I don't know if it's a traditional style, but the wood is unfinished - which makes me nervous to get them wet. Also the heandles are also extremely lightweight so the balance of the knives are weird. and finally the black piece of plastic (yes plastic) at the top of the handle seems cheap and on one of the knives it's actually slippped off the wood already (after 2 weeks of use). I wouldn't be surprised if that little piece broke in the not too distant future. Definitely do not recommend.
