Fragrance Notes - Mandarin, ginger, lavender, cistus, Akigalawood, coumarin. Fougere dArgent is a bold reimagining of the classic fougere, a structure that traditionally revolves around lavender, oakmoss, and coumarin. With oakmoss no longer available, Tom Ford has re-worked the model in a provocative manner, substituting moss with Akigalawood, a Givaudan captive derived from patchouli that has a wonderfully spicy, woodsy bitterness. What emerges from Fords confident handling is a scent that smells truly masculine “ earthy, herbaceous, and rich, with a radiantly spiced muskiness that billows around its wearer. The aromatic topnotes of lavender, ginger, and citrus notes give off a formal Savile Row vibe, with the sort of soapy, minty freshness one expects to emanate from a gentleman wearing an impeccably-tailored suit. Akigalawood stands in most competently for the traditional oakmoss, its spicy, mossy sharpness softened by the buttery labdanum amber tucked away into a corner. What marks out this fougere as a particularly modern twist on an old format is its use of coumarin. Whereas in traditional fougeres, the coumarin adds a dry hay-like grassiness, here the coumarin is taken in a sultrier, more oriental direction, emphasizing the musky sweetness of the tonka bean from whence the coumarin was extracted.

Fougère d’Argent by Tom Ford is a Amber Fougere fragrance for women and men. Fougère d’Argent was launched in 2018. Fougère d’Argent was created by Olivier Gillotin and Linda Song. Top notes are Lavender, Ginger and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Akigalawood and Labdanum; base note is Coumarin, according to Fragrantica. Fougère d’Argent is branded unisex by virtue of its inclusion in the Private Blend line, but even a deviation from the traditional fougere rings masculine. Tom Ford strongly bounced back to his significant sense, with this fragrance and once again earned my respect and my money. FA opens with a beautiful mouthwatering "ginger-y" orange scent, so juicy and vibrant to my taste. The opening is actually quite nice! I don't smell any mandarin, but it’s fresh somehow! There are absolutely no sharp tone whatsoever as usually found in citrusy notes. It smells like warm gingerbread cookies dipped in chlorinated water. That would be the ginger and lavender! The main stars in the opening and makes the transition to mid are ginger and lavender which gives that barbershop/shaving cream classy vibe. Fougere d'Argent is noticeably sweeter than most fougeres and perhaps that's in the more modern trend of masculine fragrances leaning sweeter! In the dry down the coumarin, lavender and ginger gives this a distinctly minty accord. I’m also get hints of incense here that just makes this scent linger in the air or maybe it’s the Akigalawood which apparently is a note I love as its supposedly like patchouli, pepper and oud. This may be a fougere scent but its definitely not as traditional and rather blended quite well and takes a twist on a genre that many may find dated and modernizes it. FA it’s a very elegant and sophisticated fragrance which could be used year round in any situations. It has great longevity 8+h and the silage is at arms length for about 3 to 4 hours. #tomford #perfume #fragrance #parfum #scent #cologne #duft #fragranze #dapper #sotd #fragrancelover #scentoftheday #perfumelover #fragrancecollection #eaudeparfum #blogger #nicheperfume #perfumeblogger #infuenster #influencer

Tom Ford's line of Fougères are what I consider professional fragrances for men. Fougère Platine is the best Fougère in his lineup and also the most underrated. To me, this is the perfect office scent for someone aged 25-50. This is a multi-season fragrance with one to two sprays only being necessary for the summer months with the lavender, green and citrus notes giving it enough lightness for the humidity. The tobacco, woodsy and olibanum accords give it depth for the colder months and also anchor this fragrance for a massive sillage and duration that's around 10-12 hours, which is something one should demand when shelling over $250+ for an eau de parfum. This fragrance isn't for everyone, if you're a guy under 25ish especially unaccomplished, this parfum simply ... MoreTom Ford's line of Fougères are what I consider professional fragrances for men. This fragrance isn't for everyone, if you're a guy under 25ish especially unaccomplished, this parfum simply outranks you giving you the appearance of a pretender. This is a 25+, tailored suit or business casual, office scent, also suitable for a post-work happy-hour rendez-vous. This has become my preferred year-round signature office/professional scent. Lastly, Easily a 10/10 in almost every category. Platinum Fern indeed! The scent is divine! Super "wow" moment for me both times that I've worn it so far (once to bed to test and then today to work). There aren't many fragrances that I think smell really "professional," but this is definitely in that category. Although I'll probably do it sometimes anyway, this doesn't smell like shorts and a T-shirt; it's a Brioni suit... or at least business casual. It's also perfect to go along with your date at a swanky restaurant after work. This is totally "gentleman in a bottle" as I'd like to call it. It's not a soft floral; it's masculine without being some form of stench-y or at all generic clean. Totally fit for a king! To me, it's almost edible--kind of gourmand, like a chocolate note of some sort. Maybe I'm crazy. The lavender sits in the backseat to me while everything else is driving, but it's still ever-present and asking "Are we there yet?" occasionally. I get tobacco (but not a dirty one), mixed perfectly with this beautiful wood--primarily cedar to me. The color of this is a dark shade of British racing green, as it's got some green notes that tie wonderfully. Fall is probably the best season for it, but I'll wear it year-round with no issue. It's versatile enough for that. The scent rides through humidity with great projection. Performance is great! Just half a spray is quite strong with above average longevity. It became a strong skin scent for me with nearly a full spray on the wrist after about 6-8 hours today. Before that, it was radiating probably about 3-5 feet or so. I showered 11 hours later, and now after 14 hours I can still FAINTLY smell it on my wrist. When you almost exclusively shop niche and high-end fragrances, you begin to get a little bored/jaded with what's out there. It takes something very special to capture my attention like this has, and I'm very fortunate to have it! I've bought about 20 fragrances the past year, and this is in the top 5 for sure--perhaps top 3.

Absolutely incredible!A very noticeable fragrance, and yet not very overbearing to the point that it is only appropriate for special occasions. Bright and energetic, Fougère D’Argent brings a unique taste that comes off a bit tropical in warm weather, as well as sweet & earthy in colder climates.

This is a beautiful fragrance and my first ever “blind buy”. Warm, sensual and musky notes perfectly balanced for a delightful olfactory experience. I believe trying it first would be best as it slightly leans toward the feminine side of unisex.Highest quality product and fragrance as would be expected by Tom Ford.
Ordered this on a whim never having spelt or tested it before. And of course, Tom delivered. This scent is initially masculine, you can smell the woody, warm spice and ginger right off the hop. After about 30/45 min The TopNotes settle in and the undertones come through, that mandarin and lavender combination makes this unisex scent Devine. I even smell vanilla and a touch of citrus. Idk how this brand manages to get perfumes to have such unique and different waves of scent pull through from one perfume. Amazes me truly. I personally love unisex scents and I’m glad I took a chance on adding this one to my collection. Don’t be fooled, you don’t need a lot so yes it’s pricy, but you’ll have it for a long time.
Perhaps one of the best all around created scents that the house of Tom Ford ever made. It has a smoothness and unassuming quality about it while having a uniqueness to it. Theres a warm spiciness to it from the ginger that is blended flawlessly with the lavender in which they work in harmony neither one overpowering the other. There is a bit of citrus off the top but, it really is gone within the first 10-15 minutes that gradually leads into a woody and slightly resinous and semi sweet leather like accord. There is still an overall green aromatic hue to the fragrance but, its counterbalanced with this lovely leather and spice smoothness that makes it superbly balanced for wearing at anytime for any occasion. I work in healthcare in a pretty affluent area and I had a French patient of mine who always smelled SO GOOD but because I didn’t want to be rude I never asked what he wore. Ordered this without having sampled it honestly because it ranked as the top rated when I sorted the results for woodsy winter fragrances. As soon as I opened and sprayed this I realized my French patient wore definitely either this or something in the fougère family! It is delightfully balanced and smells sophisticated and expensive. One spray is all you need. I will say that at first it starts out smelling a teeny bit on the masculine side, but on my skin at least once it dries down and the day goes on, it opens up and smells softer and more feminine.
I brought this on whim since it was on sale for a larger size. I read the other reviews and it was very mixed but decided I'd try it anyway. Ordered it for in store pick up and when I got to the store, I went to counter to see if I would like it and I really did. I'm no cologne or smells expert but I know what I like and this smells amazing. The problem is that it does not last (like the other reviews said). I have problem gone through a quarter of the bottle already and I just got it since I have to re-apply it so often. All of the other TF I have, I follow the same routine...shower, lotion, apply to same places and they last all day and stay in my clothes until the next day. This one, not even close and for the price point, I'm going to return it and try another ... MoreI brought this on whim since it was on sale for a larger size. So happy that Very have finally started selling Tom Ford’s private blend range! It smells amazing, this particular one I would say is slightly more on the masculine side, but it’s not too much, which is what I love about TF fragrances, they’re so versatile anyone can wear them. It lasts ages and you only need a small spritz. It is pricey, but that’s what you pay for with the more luxurious brands, and like I said, it lasts ages as you only need a small amount. I absolutely love this fragrance, it’s so incredibly unique and truly unisex. When I wear it, it feels sexy and feminine in a sensual (not at all floral or sweet) way, and when my husband wears it it smells rich and masculine. If I’m feeling like I want a “sweeter” iteration, I’ll layer this with a tiny spritz of Tom ford soleil blanc which is just the most delicious, creamy combo. And for a moodier texture, fougere d’argent layered with ebene fume is utterly gorgeous- like satin and leather and cigar smoke and red wine. Obviously it’s fantastic all by itself but I love the way these fragrances play together so effortlessly.
