I set out to expand my Tombow brush pen collection and saw this blue while going through the color list and realized I needed it. It's a pretty color, a bit darker in person but I think that is the nature of some colors. Depending on how many times you overlap the color when creating a swatch will make a color appear darker or lighter. I don't mind the color discrepancies, as they are usually due to user "error" if you want to call it that.

Excellent range of colors, average watercolor quality and nibs.I very much appreciate the excellent diversity of colors available in the dual brush pens. There are great subtle lighter shades of grey-green, ochre, and dusty pinks and golds that are hard to find in many brands. However, the brighter colors like vermillions and saffrons tend to be a little washed-out and less saturated looking than a top-quality watercolor pen like the Royal Talens Ecolines. As markers, they are very serviceable and I often use them for backgrounds or getting a specific color into a piece. The fine nib is nice for touch-ups and quick sketches. As watercolors, they are so-so. They do not move around as smoothly as I would like with water. The brush nibs fray pretty quickly, and they aren't replaceable so you might be stuck with a pen full of ink but no working brush nib, which is frustrating. While I often use one or two Tombows on a piece, I don't use JUST Tombows to complete anything more involved than a sketch. They're not bad - better than many alternatives - but I would not recommend them for daily heavy users or as your only watercolor pen.

The right discount offer finally came up (from Blick), and I got a full 108 color set. Now I replace individually as needed. Although I have other markers, I always go to Tombow and prefer to use if at all possible. Wonderful, vibrant colors, although there's some missing I wish they would add. Brush tips are relatively hardy and offer great control and fine line capable. However, besides my wishlist of addional colors, I have 2 complaints: 1) Tombow should make AREPLACEMENT BRUSH TIPS available so I wouldn't have to buy replacement markers so frequently, wasting ink in the process. I am very picky about pristine brush heads and have a hard time with clean lines if they are worn. 2) Tombow should either make the nib end a finer point, or make a same color set of ... MoreThe right discount offer finally came up (from Blick), and I got a full 108 color set. Regardless, I love these markers, and I use them daily. My drawings don't fade, they resist bleeding, and are relatively fairly priced (if purchased when on-sale or with a good discount code) compared to similar quality art markers.

Love these markers!
11 October 2024

I use these markers LOADS for my journal/planner and for sketching. I've used them on a few different notebooks and sketchbooks and they've worked with everything. There's no bleed-thru with even the darkest colors if you're just doing one pass - you don't start to see that until you're using a few layers. They play well with Sakura pens, Winsor&Newton fineliners, and Faber-Castell Ecco Pigment Pens - no smudging when I put marker on top and no problems putting pen on top of marker as long as the marker is dry. I don't really use the clear blenders or try and smoothly blend colors, so I can't really speak to their ability there.#sweepstakes

My new favorite art medium! I love how you can move it around the piece using just water and watercolor brushes. My technique is to color in all the darkest darks and then use the brush to move it to medium and light spaces. I use the darkest spaces like a palette for the lighter ones. Really lovely medium. I'd give it 6 stars if I could! #sweepstakes

I also use the brushes to sign items that I make. I was getting them from a different company and they only carried about 6 colors and priced individually. I went into a Blick's Art Supply store once near Roseville, MN and spent hours walking around and looking at all the supplies. When I need drawing/drafting supplies, pens, brushes I go to the website and find what I need. I do not know of anyone else having the color selection of Tombow Dual Brush Pens that Blick's has.

[Rewarded Review] Great brush pens with nice colors
15 January 2023

I bought about 10 of these Tombow Dual Brush pens and really enjoy using them. I got mostly muted tones though I did buy one or two brighter ones The brush tip is pretty flexible but holds its shape. The pointed side is like a medium felt tip pen. I use the brush side more often. The only thing I would caution if buying them without trying first, is that the colors of the caps often do not closely depict the actual color of the ink. But overall I really love these pens and will most likely be buying more of them. I’m not an artist. I use them mostly for journaling in my Hobonichi planner and pretending to make art.

[Rewarded Review] Tombow Dual Brush Pens
25 January 2024

I recently bought a set of Grayscale Tombow Brush Pens, and was very impressed with how they handle. I especially liked taking a water brush to them after sketching to create value and shadows. So I decided to pick up a few colors to complement them and put together a limited palette for an upcoming trip. I purchased this green, along with a warm yellow and a dark and light brown. Tombow offers an extensive range of colors, which enabled me to find what I needed, and I’m looking forward to putting them to good use. They’re a nice alternative to using my watercolors.

[Rewarded Review] Very Good Quality Brush Pen/Detail Pen in one.
15 April 2024

I have been using these brush pens to finish a "Color Me" jigsaw puzzle. Other markers/highlighters were too saturated and dark for use in this village scene. I was so happy to find three or four very light-colored brush pens that would allow a varied tonal quality-- instead of one consistent range throughout the scene. Also, being a brush pen, it was able to go into the valleys created by the puzzle pieces---making the composition non-spotty.

[Rewarded Review] You should totally buy some of these.
29 March 2023

I bought a few different packs of these tombow brush pens and I am having a lot of fun. They have such bright and rich colors. They also blend together alone or especially with the blending pen, so make sure you get one of those too. They are also self cleaning so you can blend without fear of ruining your markers! You can add water and they will become sort of like watercolor but easier to control. If you aren’t very good at watercolor I suggest trying these instead. I got a pack of water brushes too so I don’t need a cup of water. Like I said, I’m having a lot of fun. Very good for coloring eyes! Highly recommend.
