I was very skeptical when I first considered purchasing a toniebox this past Christmas. I have 4 boys (1-7yrs) and between them being so rough on things and falling out of love with toys as quickly as we get them, I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the expense to just end up collecting dust in a corner a week later. He will take it from room to room and collects all his tonies together in a bag to carry around with it. Great idea - good execution (not perfect) - way too costly.Let's be honest - we know why this box costs as much as it does and its not because its one of the best speakers or tech purchases you will make, its because of the licensing.It works well and the idea is really good. The controls could be a bit better. We emailed Tonie and were working with them on it, when the problem just disappeared. It seems they might have used a cheap headphone jack.
We bought this so our 4-year-old who doesn't do well with screens would have an option for listening to stories. The pieces all came in great condition. We found out during setup that our VERY AVERAGE wifi is 5ghz, not 2.4ghz. So, we either have to use our data (paying more) to set up every single Tonie or figure out how to split our wifi.We have a standard wifi setup. It's frustrating that the Tonie is only compatible with a 2.4ghz wifi set up. We're going to call our provider to see if they can split it for us. If they can't, we will return this unused. Glad I decided to try to set up before Christmas and the kids haven't seen it yet.I think Tonie should feature this more prominently in their advertising for the product.

Can't get ahold of tech support, they won't answer the phone and they sent an email stating they would call the next business day and didn't. Between me and my other families we spent close to $400 on the toniebox, figures and accessories.It is for my 4 year old Autistic daughter who would have loved it. We spent close to 7 hours trying to get past the code hedgehog and NOTHING will work. Even my brother who built his own computer could not get it to work.A children's toy should NOT be this difficult to get it to work. If we do not get an answer from the company by Friday we have no choice but to return everything. So that we have enough time to get a refund so we can buy other Christmas gifts.Make sure it works before you gift it to someone!
