Was the first of this type I have purchased.Found it frustrating to use. Maybe that was because of my unfamiliarity with it. But usually I wouldn't need to use two hands to remove an oil filter. This one I did. The remover tended to crush the filter a bit and I was concerned it might break or crack the filter in half. Will more than likely purchase a traditional oil filter remover to replace this one.

Got me out of a pickle

I had a stuck on filter than the normal strap type could not remove, also the cap type that just spun on the filter. So off to SC and spoke to a bloke from the Launceston store and he suggested this one. There are a few with differing designs around the same 3 jaw system. So bit the bullet, I had vision of me having to belt the filter off if this didn't work. Should have worried, slipped it onto the filter and with a couple of extensions took the filter off with ease. It worked so well it put 3 nice indentations into the filter housing. The machined lines on the legs make the difference

I've been struggling for years with the conventional oil filter removers as I have arthritic shoulders. Was a bit concerned about the 1 star review (from the VE Commodore owner), and I hoped I didn't experience that problem (i.e. lack of room) - I have an AU2 Ford Falcon and had more than enough room to attach the spanner. Still had to use a bit of elbow grease to get the filter off, but I think that was more due to me using a small socket/extension and next time a larger socket with more turning power will be much easier. Very happy with this and if you have bad shoulders like me, and insist on doing your own oil changes, you'll be happy with this tool.

Hands Down The Best I've Used
23 April 2023

Brought this today after struggling for 4 hours trying to get my oil filter off my D22 YD25 Navara, instantly got it off, I will swear by this from now on. Best oil filter took, if the filter is on way to tight and you need to remove it this is your tool.

Purchased as a backup option for some "problems" I was having.it remains in it's packet at the back of the workshop, just in case I have the same "problem" again, but to be honest I think I could end up loosing some skin in the process.

Nil grip
22 April 2020

Desperate for filter removal, having tried two other types of tool i finally tried this. Of the three this was the least useful, with a mechanism that required you to keep the socket pulled tight, any release from the socket wrench turning the tool loosened the entire tool immediately resulting in it dropping off the filter. Finally, unable to use it at all, I tried it on an easily accessible filter and found when fully tightened it slipped uselessly around the filter with no grip from the 'grooved' prongs whatsoever, the tightening mechanism also having no strength to tighten harder. A most useless, expensive piece of rubbish.

Oil Filter change made easy.

Owning a AWD Ford Territory, changing the oil filter is a pane with this traditional style tools to remove those hard to get along with filters. With this Tool Pro 3 prong tool the job was a breeze, no cursing and barked knuckles.Love it.

Great tool. Mechanics overtighten the oil filter on the later service and standard cup tools kept slipping. Found the tool easy to use with a long extension piece on the ratchet handle. Just keep gentle pressure on the prongs to stop them releasing.

Ratchet oil filter tool

Good product. Help me get off the very old stuck oil filter that the normal strap tool couldn’t. Used a ratchet and extension bar. Bit tricky to hold in place but once it’s tight does a ripper job.
