Compression is a critical part of an engine's combustion, without it, or more specifically, without the right amount of compression, your engine will not produce power efficiently. An engine is a sealed chamber designed to keep compression in. If your engine is not producing the correct compression, this can be due parts such as the piston rings, valves or head gaskets not sealing correctly. The ToolPRO Compression Tester is designed to tell you the exact amount of compression that your engine is producing. With these readings, you can then compare differences in compression between cylinders or against the factory service manual, to determine if engine reconditioning needs to be undertaken. Use the supplied 14mm, 14mm deep or 18mm fittings, this will thread into most spark plug holes, replacing the spark plug. When using a compression tester, it is always best to disconnect the ignition system as well as disable your fuel source to prevent the car from starting. Remember, when using a compression tester, you don't want the motor to kick over; you simply want to crank the motor in order to drive the pistons and produce compression. As this is an advanced tool, it is advisable to read instructions before use along with the service manual of your car.

ToolPRO Cylinder Compression Tester
Delivery between Tue – Fri $8.99

I’ve read on other reviews that these cheaper ones have issues. However I found that it does the job. It’s only been a few uses since buying. But at this point I can confirm that it’s sufficient for the home mechanics. If only it came with a protective/ storage case.

Seems to work ok my only concern is the accuracy of the gauge was only fixing a lawnmower and it’s operating again so all good

Good value for money, would benefit from an extension to get it out, brass is hot to touch and twisting the rubber tube to get out may break tube.
This product seems to function & operate fine. I did find the gauge dial markings a little difficult to interpret at a glance. To be specific, the numbering points above the scale, were not clearly delineated. I found I had to count off segments one by one until I achieved the correct value. A properly scaled unit should be able to be read and interpreted easily. I found that using a mechanics glove was handy when handling the warm to hot spark plugs. To be able to cycle through measurement of all cylinders as quickly as possible is an advantage, thereby achieving a more consistent reading across all cylinders at the same relevant measuring temp.
The valve that holds pressure reading didn’t seal and give incorrect readings. Valve spring fault. The extension piece will unscrew and remain down deep holes, no need to use extension. Floppy hose makes reading difficult. Hose crimp seal leaking. After fixing to my best ability, not sure i trust results, so what’s the use?
Pressure release valve didn't seal, had to tighten it down.Worked decently after that though
Great durable, accurate, easy to use and reliable. Worth the extra $ for this model compared to the short push in one
I bought this a few months ago and it does exactly what it says on the packet. Not much else to say about it really. The long extension is super handy for engines where the spark plugs are sunken into the rocker cover or nestled in between the runners of an exhaust manifold, such as on my V8. I can't vouch for its accuracy as I don't have anything else to compare it to. It did pick up a fairly significant drop in cylinder 2 though, so that's something
I bought this today to check compression on a 2.4L petrol motor 4g69 mitsubishi ,with spark plug access 100mm down the rocker cover tubes , screwed it in by hand and the o-ring sealed ok, worked just fine for me testing all 4 cylinders , $60 and job done
