after trying other spring compressors and finding they all had clearance issues on my Head I found this one worked due to its large size and the double adjustment at both ends it gave clearance around the head on my 3.6L alloytec headd. The reason for 4 stars is simple, Even the smaller spring end was too large for the spring caps, I had to make an adaptor up so I could compress the springs first try every time.

After reading all the negative reviews I watched the video demonstrating it working, thought perhaps people weren’t using it right, but the reviews are dead on. This tool s utterly useless unless your valve springs are from a retractable ballpoint pen. There a absolutely no possible way of compressing an ordinary valve spring with this flimsy design and stupidly short lever which provide zero leverage as even if you are a gorilla and can move the lever, you’ll seem have fewer fingers thanks to the stupidity of the lever placement creating an unavoidable dangerous pinch point.Do yourself a favour and buy a large G clamp and a short section of alloy tube, cut a notch in the side of the tube, big enough to access the collets with a magnet.

I purchased this regardless of the crap reviews it received. I removed 16 valves and put back in 16 valves in my Holden 308 v8. Not as issue, items still look like new. All I can say is, use the item correctly. Very impressed

I bought this compressor yesterday and used it to overhaul a Mazda 3 head, worked really well. The adjustment is good and made the job easier
A bit clumsy, but not so hard to use, with a bit of practice. I used this to do the valves on a 2011 Ural motorbike. There are two fittings (on the left side of the photo), depending on size of the valve springs you're working on.
Absolute pile of crap, poor quality steel bent on first valve spring and completely broke on 3rd. Even the little nut on top that sets the valve spring width couldn’t hold tension so I had to weld it so it stopped slipping out of the tread. Had to make my own valve spring compressor to complete the job on my LSX heads because this pile of junk couldn’t even manage to do a half-job. You get what you pay for. Absolute junk. Highly do not recommend. As an enthusiast & collector that is always spending time working on high-end classics, muscle and Supercars. I don’t know if I’m ever going to bring my business to Supercheap auto ever after selling me such a useless piece of junk
Stupidly short handle requires herculean strength to release with any degree of control . Need 3 hands to operate. Falls to the side under load. But it did the job
Cannot apply enough pressure to springs, as it deforms (dangerously). The tips kept bending on the spring, and would slip off. It is very hard to apply enough pressure to the handle. I ended up buying another valve spring compressor from a local tool shop (same design, but more heavy duty), and it worked fine.
Item is flimsy and it is impossible to compress valve springs with the handle. Also, could not clear the edge of the valve cover surface when I finally got the spring compressed on my excel 1.5L
LOw compressibilty function / valve restraint bends needs to be stiffer and manual adjustor bar very small and difficult to turn.Found that handle lever was little of no function so had to resort to compressing spring with adjustment of bolt . Ended up throwing in Bin and resorting to using oversized socket and extension bar and hammering spring to diengage from cylinder head.. Very poor product...
