I loved this movie. Still great to this day. I have also just watched the new one and like them both. But this one is a classic. Lots of action & adventure. A true love story. Highly recommend seeing both movies.

I bought this 4K remaster of TOP GUN a week ago. I have always been a huge fan of this movie and watching it evolve from VHS to DVD to Blu Ray and now 4K. It just keeps getting better and better. It's a movie you can never get sick of watching. The remastered video quality is brilliant. Little to no digital noise in the picture like other 80s movie remasters. Beautiful HDR moments throughout movie. Colors are vibrant and accurate. Ok now the SOUND review. If you have an ATMOS setup at home. You'll be rewarded with a next level experience. They have done a sensational job at remastering the soundtrack. You have to hear it to believe it. Highly Recommend having this in your collection.

Still one of the best action movies of all time, and the movie that catapulted Tom Cruise into stardom like a aircraft carrier catapulted those planes into the sky. The action and soundtrack in this movie remain some of the best of all time. The streaming services rarely offer this one, so I decided it was time to go ahead and purchase it. Though I got it on Blu-Ray, a plain DVD would do. It's not like this movie was filmed in high definition or anything, so it's going to look the same no matter what format you own it on. It just comes down to how much you want to spend. It's fun to watch movies from my own childhood with my kids to see their reactions to them. They loved this one almost as much as I did back in the '80's!

I hadn't watched this film in years, I was bored by it. However, after enjoying the brilliant sequel, I decided to try it again. Bearing in mind that the last time I watched this was on VHS, this was completely different. First of all, I really enjoyed this film, maybe it's because my attention span and interests have changed, and because I don't mind character driven film over constant fx being thrown at me but this film was very enjoyable, and it looked amazing on 4k, far better than it could have looked, it literally looked like a brand new film. I can definitely recommend.
Many years ago when I lived in Oceanside, CA several streets were blocked off and I asked "what's going on here?" I was told "they're making some movie with Tom Cruise" LOL. Turned out to be the scene where he rides up to the instructor's house and rides away. This movie has stood the test of time. It's difficult to believe it was made 35 years ago. The Atmos soundtrack will give you goosebumps..I don't remember it sounding this good when I saw it in the theater years ago. This disc contains a commentary track and hours of special features to keep you entertained.

I got through the first nine minutes of the movie when the screen froze and it went to the blu ray dvd home menu. I tried inserting the dvd several times hoping to get a different response but all that showed was “NO DISK” or “This Disc Cannot be Played-back” I tried playing the same dvd on different DVD players but it was the same response. I even played different discs and they played smoothly with no hiccups. The next day I went back to Walmart to exchange the disc for another top gun DVD. This should be a film that is in any Top Gun, Tom Cruise, or film fan's collection, especially now that Top Gun: Maverick is out. It's a film that never gets old no matter how many times you've seen it. Tough to beat its great soundtrack, tons of memorable quotes and action sequences, and more extras than many other releases from its era.
Hadn't seen this movie since late 80s but because of the success & awesomeness of the sequel, I decided to give it a try on blu-ray. The blu-ray quality overall wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It was grainy. It was fun to see the movie again but wish the HD quality was more crisp. I've seen movies older than this converted to blu-ray & look spectacular, like the 1st Rambo. This one, not so much. Still recommended because of its tie to the sequel.

Wow, the whole movie from start to finish was eye popping. The 4k resolution and HDR revitalises this movie like it was made yesterday. The Dolby Atmos audio sounds superb through my surround sound set up. Best of all I purchased this movie at a very competitive price. My whole family really enjoyed this edition of Top Gun and to top it off there where no letter boxes, so my whole tv screen was utilised. I highly recommend this nostalgic movie, especially in the 4k HDR format.
