I was looking for something in the middle that gave me the best of both worlds, then I found this amazing mower.Thoughts:This mower has treated me extremely well and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I've heard great things about this mower and got to feel and look at the great quality of the mower before purchasing at my local dealer and I was instantly sold.Engine:The powerful 10ft lb. torque engine purrs like no other engine and puts other mowers at shame. To pull start the mower you need a good arm due to engine size but personally, I haven't had an issue with pull starting and I've always had it start first pull which is great. Many commercial fleets use this mower and for a good reason, the engine is a top-class commercial grade engine from Briggs & Stratton which will definitely last for over 3000 hours with good maintenance.Personal Pace:Toro's choice of using their personal pace technology on this mower was definitely needed due to the sheer weight of this mower (150lbs) and ease of use. Personal pace does take some time to get used to if you're coming from a regular one-speed mower as you are just used to the mower "pulling" you across the lawn with no control of the actual machine. Personal pace also has great power and torque for hills compared to other mowers which are great. Due to personal pace, I don't consider this mower a push mower, it's more like a walk behind as the mower takes care of all the hard labor.Wheels:Another area where you can see some effort was put in is the wheels. These wheels are huge and use actual rubber compared to other mowers that have tiny plastic wheels. These huge grippy wheels are great for leverage when not using personal pace or just pushing the mower in general.Deck Quality + Wash Port:The deck is your average deck from a Toro mower so not much to complain about here. The wash port works great as long as you drop the deck all the way down for increased vacuum. I've been using the wash port after every time I use the mower and there is no buildup under the deck yet which is great. Just make sure to put on the wash port quick-connect correctly or it will not work at all.Blade Stop / Clutch:Blade Stop works nicely but just make sure to engage blades slowly to not damage belts/pulleys. My only pet peeve with the blade stop is the safety handle located on the right-hand side of the blade stop handle, I see why they added it but I feel like it slows you down and is an extra annoyance for nothing.Quick-Stow/Handle:Handle adjustment options are great, you're guaranteed to find the right handle height for your personal comfort. Quick-stow is simple enough to use and can be a nice space-saver in the garage.Con - Extremely Small Gas Tank:The gas tank is one of the most annoying things about this mower, I find myself refueling the mower 2-4 times while cutting an acre of grass. They could have made the gas tank bigger to support the gas guzzler engine that is equipped with the mower. There is also a blue “sponge” in the tank that a lot of people complain about (including myself). The sponge is there to help prevent slosh but it makes it impossible to see the fuel level and you can easily overflow the tank if you're not paying close attention.Final Thoughts / Closing:I am satisfied with the mower and plan to use it for many years to come. This mower is definitely the king of saving time while doing it in a luxurious way. I've had no issues with starting the engine or bad/uneven cuts. (Keep in mind I've been using the mower 1-2 per week for 2 months). If you are debating buying this mower, just buy it I guarantee you that you will not regret it. There's not much to say besides that Toro definitely did a great job with this mower.

While a bit pricey, the 30 inch cutting size reduces mowing time considerably vs a 21 inch. The electric start is a nice feature, so no worry about hard starting in the cold weather. It has a trickle charger to keep the batteryh charged while sitting in the cold weather. Have almost an acre yard, lots of thick fallen branches, drainage ditches, and this mover cuts the thickest grass like butter. Great for mulching, easy to lower the blade height with just 2 levers. This mower has 2 blades to insure uniform cutting. It takes a bit getting used to its power, as it can really move fast. Great for cardio workouts as you can run with it, although not recommended!

Large Clean Cut…almost effortless walk behind
21 May 2022

As a senior, I chose a walk behind for exercise to cut my 12,000 sqft back lawn, but my 21” mower was working me to the point I was fairly useless afterwards. It was taking 2 hours as I bag my grass and the bag was small- many trips to empty the grass bag. The time master lives up to its name and more. It starts easily and runs smoothly. The self propelled feature runs even without the blades being engaged which is nice when just moving the mower. I waited a year before purchasing because I thought the mower would be too much to handle. I was wrong. It’s amazingly easy to change cutting direction. Now the best part. When the blades are engage and cutting the mower sounds like a turbo charger. The cut is a full 30 inch with less need to overlap the previous cut like with my 21”. The grass bag is larger which means fewer trips to dump the bag. I have a tall fescue lawn which is a cool season grass….and the Time Master wheels are adjustable to 4-1/4 inch which this type grass likes when the heat of summer comes. Best of all, cutting time is now 1 hour and 10 mins and since the self-propel drive is so responsive I’m much less tired and able to continue with weed eating and blowing when I used to do that on another day. Oh, and there is a nice must have mower cover for storing the mower outside. It completely covers the full length of the mower and includes secure strapping underneath - easy on/off. In a word, I’m “thrilled” with this mower.

Lasted less than 8 minutes (minutes not hours!)
10 April 2023

I was so excited about this purchase until the belt shredded and blades collided in first few passes, 7 minutes and 50 seconds to be exact. The sound of the blades colliding is very horrifying and made me think my lower body was in danger. Prior to using I almost returned the product. Once I got it out of the box I was a little surprised at the low level quality of the plastic molded parts (large amounts of flash and you can see just about where the parts were cut off from their molding gate locations). There was a large amount of weld splatter and some scratches on the bottom side of the deck. I thought to myself then I hope this isn't foreshadowing the quality of this mower... Partly my mistake I purchase from a place that once you put oil and gas in it they won't have anything to do with the product. All the local dealers are almost 3 weeks out for service before anyone can even take a look at it. Now I am stuck mowerless in the spring time for the next month while the lawn needs mowed 2x a week. So very disappointed in this product I had such high hopes for :( Maybe if I would have purchased from a big box store where I could walk in to exchange it and be done in minutes or purchased from a real dealer where these things are checked over first, maybe my thoughts would be different. I will say I was surprised how easy it was to maneuver once running and the personal pace system is nice.

Leaves a Great Look to Your Lawn
9 July 2023

After doing some research and asking a few Lawn Mower dealers for recommendations, I decided to purchase the Toro 30" TimeMaster. I wanted a mower that was wider than the typical 21" homeowner single blade type because I don't like the finished look of many small "stripes" in my lawn. I didn't want a riding mower or a full landscape mower either, so the TimeMaster seemed to be the perfect compromise.I've been very pleased with my finished look of my lawn with the wider "stripes" the Timemaster leaves. And since the dual blades actually extend out past the wheels, you don't need to overlap each pass as much, the way you would with a typical 21" mower. The electric start is also a nice feature, but I don't always use it. If I could wish for one improvement to the TimeMaster, however, it would be to have a small alternator to charge the battery as the engine is running instead of having to plug it in to charge.Overall though, I'm very pleased with the mower and highly recommend it for anyone who wants to cut down their mowing time and have a nicer finished look to their lawn.

New Sheriff in Town

Moved into a new house a few months ago with a fair amount of yard to mow in the front and back. I thought I could make do with a battery-powered mower from the most highly rated brands out there. I was wrong. It would take me close to 3 hours to mow my lawn, swapping out batteries sometimes as many as 4 times during my session. I was pushed to the brink. I knew a typical 21" deck was not going to get the job done. Toro has the market cornered when it comes to mowers and the TimeMaster is the King of residential push mowers. I opted for the electric start model and I am glad I did. Impressive machine, cuts through all types of grass no problem, strong transmission, clean cut, no random strays sticking out. It's only been 2 months, and I can say I've never experienced a machine like this. I can get through my lawn now in about an hour, and I also opted for the striping kit, which leaves behind some amazing looking stripes! It feels good knowing I have the best looking lawn on the block thanks to this machine and a proper lawn service program. My only wishlist item would be for a slightly bigger gas tank to handle a larger lawn, but that's not a big deal. This is not an inexpensive purchase, but if you are someone who values and takes pride in how your lawn looks, I can at least vouch for it and tell you it puts a smile on my face every time I stand back and admire my lawn after each cut.

Nice mower
14 November 2022

I've had it about a year. Used it for 1 summer plus part of the first. It's a really good mower, but the flexible guard on the bottom rear of the mower that stops things from coming out from underneath, ripped apart terribly after maybe 4 months of cutting! I finally cut the rest off. I did order a new one, but I'm not sure I'll even put it on, because nothing really comes out from the rear of the mower anyway. I might put it on in the spring. But I've heard other people have had the same problem too. Now I'm basing some of these remarks, and comparing the mower to the 32" commercial mower I used for years. So my other concern is the buildup of grass under the deck. It's pretty bad sometimes, and I have to tilt it and pull all the grass out, and start mowing again. ... MoreI've had it about a year. But, if the grass is real dry there's usually not a problem. And I wish this mower had a little bit bigger gas tank, but I might be spoiled from my 5g tank in my other mower. So, other than these things, this is a really good mower - very solid! When I ended my lawn and landscape business, my older mower had had it's time...probably 25 years, and there were a few major things I think were going to happen, so I decided to get a new mower. And after mowing with my 32" Toro for years, I wasn't going to get a 21 or 22", so I got this one. I'm very glad I did!

Powerhouse, and time saver...

I really like this mower. It makes quick work of conditions that my old 21" Super Recycler would struggle with. And Personal Pace is THE BEST!!!Lighter and quieter would be better, but the tradeoffs are worth it IMO.My only disappointment (and a big one) is that the battery for the electric start did not last 6 months. The plug-in charger blinks red every few seconds, and never charges the battery. Fuse is fine.Part of the reason I bought the mower, with electric start, was because of a shoulder injury. For the money spent, I thought Toro would just ship me a new battery. But to get this addressed, my local Toro repair shop is telling me I have to bring the entire mower in. Because of my shoulder injury, I can't do that.

I am impressed so far with my new Toro, have used it four times so far. Our son purchased the same model a few years ago, giving me someone with firsthand knowledge to talk to before making the purchase. Several neighbors complemented the job the TimeMaster does on our yard and one is even looking to buy one now to replace his Honda. So far I have mulched, bagged and used the side discharge and am pleased with each option. Adjusting the cutting height is very easy and the hose attachment works pretty well. I like the one lever to change the push bar position, makes standing the mower up to clean the deck or service the blades a breeze. The only drawback is the small gas tank mentioned in other reviews. I’m able to gauge the speed by the load on the engine when the grass is heavier, and it will mow as fast as I can walk too. Overall, I am very pleased and would buy another one.
