The item is compact and quiet, and I now have many movies archived. The downside is...the hard drive will ONLY play them on a computer or laptop NOT on a Smart tv system. This hard drive is only good for archive STORAGE...which means you need to copy/paste any movies you want to watch on tv, onto a 'playable' memory stick. This 4TB hard drive has now become my movie library...just what I wanted.

This is a small external hard drive - works, no problem connecting - the only thing I would note is that it is noisier than other external HDs i've had - if resting on a table/desk it does resonate - problem largely solved by resting it on a pad of cloth - given the way it vibrates when plugged in, I'm avoiding leaving it plugged in when not in use
I bought the same device 3 months ago and its a great drive to have, not noisy at all and quick to transfer data to and from my pc/laptop. Its one of the best external drives out there in the market and is hard to find now. I confidently recommend it.
The hard drive is solidly constructed, compact and quiet. The price is quite good for 4TB. Write speed is sufficient for documents, photos or files 1 - 2 GB is enough. Only with large files, e.g. 10-50 GB you have to wait a bit.
I tried to copy hundreds of files onto this drive but they don't all get copied and some transfers are like that. Stops and starts will slow down the really big transfers unless we choose to skip files that aren't copied. From then on, it's pot luck what to do. The alternative would be less than a hundred files and taking note of any errors When the files permit the transfers using the move action then that's always pot luck, hence the safer option of copying files then verifying the number saved and their total file size agrees with the original ones. Right-click the files or the folder containing these, then select Properties or use a Windows Explorer-style approach and see the file details on the screen. Due to the really large storage on the Toshiba drives, it is easier to save very large video files and PC program installation setup files onto these rather than millions of jpgs. Use programs that provide a safe ejection for USB drives and remember that some drives ought to be disconnected that way prior to switching off the computer. Reconnect later after Windows has fully loaded the desktop setup and various startup programs. Otherwise, the computer may not start properly and pause during the initial checks.
