I had a functioning modem that was a few years old and I was unsure whether purchasing a new more powerful modem was worth it considering Australias internet speeds arent that high anyway. I also live in a small 2 bedroom apartment and already had 4 bars in the whole place. But DANG this made a huge difference in the quality and latency of all devices on WiFi, especially my TV in the other room. Well worth the price - shouldve done it earlier.

I've had mixed experience with a number of home routers at the value end of the market. They started to need a reboot; this became more frequent; and then they died. The AX10 goes on and on. Bandwidth tests consistently show I am getting 100% of the Mpbs I pay for. Others go up and down according to God knows what interference. OK, my demands are not high, but they appear to exceed the performance of a lot of devices! Interestingly, the Wifi has a higher bandwidth (from reasonably range) than ethernet! Cannot recommend the AX10 highly enough for a value-minded, home user.

Decent router, a bit limited

This is a reasonably priced router, which on the bright side has more than enough CPU power and memory to do the job, and an easy interface with easier firmware updates than older TP-Links. The down sides are it insists on randomly switching to a named address (tplinkwifi.net) rather than the IP, so if you have two Archers you will get moved to the other one fairly frequently while trying to set it up; and it's a bit limited in terms of controls, again compared to older TP-Link models. Despite the huge antennas, its power isn't vast, and despite the misleading OneMesh web page, it is not available with OneMesh, and I doubt it ever will be (I personally suspect OneMesh is being phased out, given how much more profit they can get from the Deco systems). I've found TP-Link gear to be pretty reliable over time. The default settings should probably be tinkered with, using a laptop WiFi mapping program, if you live in a densely populated area; it's not good at guessing bands. I had best results from shutting off SmartConnect and turning on OFDMA, and setting the bands myself.

Fantastic to pair with your lNBN modem. Super fast
12 May 2022

This is the best purchase ever. The default NBN modem/routers that come from your provider are very bad. But you can use them as modem only (as a bridge) and pait it with this fantastic and superfast Ax10 Wifi router. I have seen my speed go up spectacularly and the connections are way more stable! Also great for wireless connecting Oculus Quest 2 to the PC (Wifi-6)!. Very happy with the purchase.

Great price, super-fast NYC wifi and ethernet, easy setup
19 March 2020

As usual, a B & H product specialist gave me great advice-- by recommending this router. Setup was a breeze, the quick start instructions were easy to follow, and it was working immediately. I should have upgraded my router much sooner! The improvement in speed and continuity of my connections is remarkable. This delivers wifi and ethernet connections that are as fast and stable as I could ever want. I am using this in a co-op in a big NYC apartment building, crowded with neighbors' competing router signals. Yet this router maintains solid connections at impressive speeds, both wired and wirelessly. Its radio signal is strong in every corner of the apartment, even with old-time, solid structural walls separating the rooms. I had a great experience with my quite old, prior TP Link router, so this one is true to form. I highly recommend this router, especially from B&H.

Is it fast?

Is this going to improve my internet speed? That is easily one of the top questions when considering purchasing equipment like this, (Which I'll get to). First, if you are still paying your internet service provider to lease their equipment, I'll save you time and just recommend buying it right now. Depending on your internet speed, you may also need to purchase a modem. You'll not only save money in the long run, but you most likely will see a boost in your internet speed. TP-Link's Archer AX1800 is a good router and is a steal with its price tag. Setup is straight forward. Use your smartphone to scan the QR code, download the app and it will walk you through the easy setup. The AX1800 claims Wi-Fi speeds of 1.8 Gbps *. I was a few feet away from the router when I performed these tests. The 2.4 GHz topped out at almost 105 Mbps. The 5 GHz topped out at just over 677 Mbps. Not quite the speed advertised, but still very fast. For the price and the speeds, it would be hard to find a better entry level router.

Solid router

So far the router has been working flawlessly. Easy to setup. Had it up and running within 10mins. Has good wifi range. Covered my 3 bedroom house no problems at all. The one thing a hate is that it has to connect to a top level domain server every 30sec. Its to check to see it your internet is still up and running. A heat beat. Block it and the router stops running.

I had tried two other brands of routers (WiFi 5 standard) before trying AX10, as my connection speed often dropped and routers struggled to keep multiple active connections.Setting up AX10 was simple. There are no dropped connections or speed lags even while multiple devices are connected at the same time. You will find significant improvement in connection if you have a WiFi 6 enabled device. You are getting Confused Michael!
15 April 2022

Sorry Michael but I don't think you understand how it works, this is not a Modem/Router, it is a Router only which means that it needs a modem connected to it to get the internet that it then routes...it most certainly DOES support FTTN!!! And all other internet connection types! As long as the modem has a pan port and you connect it to the WAN port of this router it will work. I have FTTN and this router is currently working better than my internet ever has through an FTTN modem!
